I dropped my car off at AAMCO Transmission on ************** on July 21st. The car has been there for 5 weeks with only 3-6 hours of diagnostic work done to it. After multiple.***** calls every week with someone different telling me something different every time I call. The shop manager has been telling me he would have an estimate to me for days and still no estimate.

When we do a diagnostic, we try to get an idea of what's wrong with the car and what the customers complaint is. This gentleman said he worked on it and all he wants is this done or that done. The car was here for quite a while. The manager at that time told him it would be 3 weeks because we were backed up with people that were already here. We told him we would try to get a preliminary diagnostic to see what was wrong.

The vehicle was diagnosed. We told him he might want to reconsider investing this much money in the vehicle because there was a slew of things wrong with it. He didn't like that. He wanted some repairs done but not all. He has picked up the vehicle. He just wanted to get his car out of here. He was charged for the extended diag which he approved but not for the initial diag fee.

If he hasn't had any luck getting the repairs done, because I don't think anyone is going to work on his car, I'd be happy to have him back and try to resolve this.

My transmission was slipping so I brought it to Aamco for diagnosis and repair. The told me I need a transmission rebuild. I authorized them to do so and paid them about $6100. Within weeks the car was doing the same a before. I brought it back to them and they now said it's a $30 part and covered by the warranty (which is 90 days) so I don't have to pay anything. However, a few weeks later it's doing the same thing, but now they are saying it's something that is not covered under warranty and I'm going to have to pay. This whole situation seems extremely fishy, they told me rebuilding my transmission would fix the problem, it didn't, and now they won't refund my money. I don't know what to do, but I need help resolving this issue. I have talked to the owner about the situation and he flat out told me "I will not refund you anything".I can provide the supporting documents, I just don't have them right now.

(NEED TO FIX TO KEEP WARRANTY)Tech stated that engine is making upper eng noise (tapping).
Check engine light P06DD code is a eng oil cooler code.
Eng oil cooler leaking bad, and reason CEL is on.

(NEED TO FIX TO KEEP WARRANTY) customer didn't want to pay after telling them that external leaking lines were not covered under warranty so we fixed it in good faith.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

[Provide details of why you are not satisfied with this resolution.]

My argument is that the original issue was misdiagnosed, and if I was told of the full extent of the issue before hand I would have chosen not to proceed with any work, because the over all cost of the repairs would be more than the car was worth.

Once this job was approved to start work we gave him a price range on every bill. Every step of the way they were notified. We did the build, however we did find other issues with the vehicle and let them know. Then we found out this gentleman was using the vehicle to tow, which voided his warranty. The problem with the vehicle is that it had an outside issue that was not in the warranty. It was leaking in the radiator transmission lines. We took it in good faith and took care of the leaking lines. The last statement where he's stating whether the vehicle was worth it is his opinion. It was worth it for him want to begin the work.

I DID NOT use the van to tow anything, there is a tow hitch installed and it's been there since I bought it. The value of the car is not an opinion, it's a value that can bee looked up and referenced. If I was told the full extent of the issues before you began I would have never have authorized it. Also, within weeks of it being completed the tech who performed the work was fired for over building. Meaning he did more to my transmission than needed, and it didn't even fix the problem. I have the original codes that you were presented, and the same code still exists.
