On 12/16/20222 my 86 year old dad paid $800.00 to this company for cyber help under suspicious circumstances. We believe our dad mistakenly clicked on a link and had a conversation with this company for some sort of IT service. The irony is my brother and I both are IT professionals and our Dad doesn't need this company's help. We called to get a full rebate on 1/11/2023 as it seems like this company is a scam artist or at the very least taking advantage of elderly people. Instatfixus created a temporary email account with our Dad and then they created a custom check for the $800 (since our Dad wasn't able to use his credit card it seems) of subscription service for three years. The creation of the online check seems possibly like bank wire fraud and we're about to reach out to a lawyer and the state of Massachusetts to see if we have a case as the company refused a full refund and were VERY rude on the phone. Before we file a complaint, we request the company return the full amount as the business has for many other people via this forum In the last year.Business Response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because the business sent the echeck to the "fake" email account they setup with my father when scamming him out of the $800.00. The email address the **checks were sent was created the same day they "worked" with my dad and the email account is NOT accessible. Can the business send these echecks to my account please?

To: <[email protected]>
Hello,
It has been almost three weeks since the last messages and I want to resolve this case. The (fraudulent) business wants my email address/contact info so I can receive the $800 for my parents but I also want to discuss the fraud this company engineered on my dad between the online check, temporary fake email account (Which they sent the 800$ too), and rude support. There are ample examples only our site of people accusing them of basic fraud and separately their business should be reviewed for aggressively going after seniors.
They can use this email to send the rebate too - ********************. My Dads email is ****************.
Thanks,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Please stop scamming senior citizens insrafixus for IT support. There are way too many complaints where you did the same thing to my parents. Horrible but thanks for finally sending the check correctly.

The transction took place on Dec 26 2022. My credit card was charged $700 - supposedly for 3 years' service. I couldn't reach certain sites, so Instafixus took control of my computer. The result was that my inability to get to these sites INCREASED! I protested the charge to my credit card company. Then I phoned Instafixus and asked for a refund. I was offered $100 and declined. Then I was offered $300 and declined that. I checked with BBB and found that I am hardly alone in considering Instafixus a scam operation.Business Response

I ******************* contracted for the services of INSTAFIXUS for computer protection. On the date of 12/08/22 at 8:47 am. I got a call from a person calling himself ***; he left me a voicemail message. He told me he is with "INSTAFIXUS". *** went on to tell me "INSTAFIXUS" was going out of business. He went on to say they're going to refund me $699.00 dollars and to contact him at ###-###-####:he called me from phone number ###-###-####. I called *** at "INSTAFIXUS" he checked the information he and "INSTAFIXUS" had on me, he then realized I would only be due $299.99. When he corrected the amount I'd be owed I thought this was a legit. *** then went on to ask me about my type of computer and the bottom row of key's on my computer. He told me they would be sending me a check. On the date of 12/12/22 at 3:13pm. I received another voicemail call from *** at "INSTAFIXUS". On the date of 12/13/22 at 12:15 pm. I called *** at "INSTAFIXUS". *** told me he needed more information to make sure the money being sent to me would get into my bank. He asked me if I was close to my computer. I told him no. At that time I went to "INSTAFIXUS" homepage. I found they were still advertising for business. At that time I looked for The B.B.B. on my computer.
