I have been contacted by Taxing Authority Consulting Services, PC for a debt not owned by me.It is owned by someone with the same first and last name but does not have the same birthday, SSN, and does not live at the same address. Taxing Authority Consulting Services did not perform any research on the debt, they simply looked up my name and started harassing me for a debt I do not own. Even worse, they also contacted my employer without my permission to withhold my future earnings, which threatened my job security.Their negligent behaviors have caused immense distress and disruption to my personal life.

I received a letter in the mail a week ago from this company trying to collect taxes for a vehicle I legally sold back in 2018. This letter also stated it was the FINAL NOTICE when I never received a first or second. I have not lived in ******** since 2018 and moved across the country, hence why I sold the vehicle.

Our firm is a collection law firm retained by the local government to collect taxes that have been duly assessed.  Any correction of the assessment must be done by the local commissioner of revenue.  Once any adjustment to the assessment is completed, our office's balances will be updated.

I have had an issue with this company since February. I have wrote them and asked them for information regarding this claim but they refused to write back. I had to contact the State of Virginia's tax offices. When contacting them they told me this was a dead file or a dead claim (something along those lines) and since it was over 10 years old they were not pursuing it. I also told them that I haven't lived there since 2010 in which I was transferred to 3 different people who all told me that TACS was wrong for digging up such an old file. As I said earlier TACS never replied back to the letter uploaded as "TACS - VIRGNIA BEACH.pdf". I even have the proof of delivery confirmation where a *********************** signed for it uploaded as TACS CERTIFIED DELIVERY with a date of March 3, 2023, but still no reply back to any of my questions as to why they are looking for payment of a debt over 7 years old. The most recent letter I received from them is uploaded and labeled TACS RECENT COMMO which I received July 3rd. Again, they have not sent a reply to my letter answering any questions I asked, but just stating I must pay on a debt older than 7 years old which the State of Virginia said I should not have to pay. From all the comments I see on different sites about this company I have come to believe that they are fraudulent and must be shut down. I also know there is a statute of limitations on debts, and that each debt collection agency must have a license to collect or even operate if they are outside of their own operating state.

The ********************** obtained a judgment against **********************, III for delinquent personal property taxes related to tax years 2009 and 2010.  The case number is GV14011374-00.  This remains a valid outstanding obligation and we will continue to pursue collection activity on behalf of our client.  Taxes are not consumer debts and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act is not applicable to the request for validation.  Please contact our office to arrange to have this account paid as soon as possible.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action is not honest. Please have them show proof from ************** on what is owed, versus what TACS says before I can proceed on any taxes from 2009 or 2010.

This is the second time that this company has reached out to me in the last year and I am unsure why. I paid them last year but now I am being asked to pay another $58.62 without any explanation as to why. There letter claims that this is the 'second attempt' but it is not. If you review other complaints you will see that this is a common practice of theirs. I do not understand why I am receiving another letter for money when I already paid the balance owed. I also do not understand why the letter claims that it is the second notice - which is the same thing the other letter that I received last year stated. This is the first letter for this amount. I want an explanation as to why I am receiving this letter and also why your company claims that this is the second notice when it is the first. The ***** is ******.

It appears that the account was paid in full in 2022 and after the funds were forwarded to our client for posting on their side, which is the system of record, an adjustment to a 2018 account was made.  The variance between the posting on our system and the system of record for the City likely related to an account that had not been placed with TACS for collection, but was still showing active on the City's system.

I will have staff review the account adjustment with the City and we will contact ******************** to let him know what we discover.

The second notice resulted from prior communication having already been sent on the open account.  While it is in fact an additional notice on the account, I understand the confusion.

This business served a lien on my bank account and did not provide me with any notice of the lien. The last correspondence I received from them was nearly 2 months ago. They alleged that they sent out a letter, but it is a week later and I have still not received any letter about the lien, which I believe the law requires. When I called their office, it took me several attempts to actually get through to somebody and the woman I spoke to was extremely rude, unprofessional, and condescending. This should not be allowed. I had also sent to debt verification letters to this business, which they never acknowledged, or replied to. When I previously spoke to someone there, and advised that I had sent an FDCPA letter, they said they would send me verification. What they sent me was a print out from the tax assessors office in Petersburg, but that did not explain any of the charges.

TACS sent me a delinquent notice in the amount of $294.72 for personal property taxes for the ****************. I lived in the city from January 12th 2021 - August 7th 2021 at which point I moved to Henrico. They were charging me for January 7th 2021 - present. As it stands, the vehicle in question was SOLD on March 10th 2022...therefore the debt in question is 100% illegal plus I have been paying taxes on Henrico. This company refuses to do anything except threaten me over and over again. The **************** has stated that the only taxes due are $161...in which they are WITHHOLDING $221 from my state tax return which would cover that amount due.

TACS is a law firm working with ******** local governments in the collection of certain delinquent taxes. TACS does not control the assessment of tax and only the ********** of ******* can ***** or relieve any duly assessed taxes, neither can we ask the City to ***** charges as this is the taxpayer's responsibility to ensure the jurisdiction knows of any property changes or changes in address.  ******************** will need to provide information to the City to verify that that property was sold and the date of transfer.  If DMV records were not updated when he moved to Henrico, the taxing jurisdiction would not know of the situs change.  In the event that a hold on a tax refund pays the amount in full, our balances will be updated by the City and nothing additional would be owed.

I have reviewed the offer and/or response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

They neglected to read my full complaint. The amount they are saying I owe was incorrect and illegal. They are attempting to collect on an illegitimate debt and I refuse to accept anything other than them admitting that they were wrong in the first place and correcting the issue. Their outright refusal to do anything but twiddle their thumbs is asinine. Illegal actions face legal consequences. The **************** admitted to NEGLIGENTLY overcharging and this company refuses to accept that. They are defrauding the public and I will not stand for this behavior.

I stopped by City Hall on April 20, 2023 to pay my Personal Property taxes with the amount of $256.98. (Itemized bill attached) The receptionist stated that my bill had been sold to TACS debt collection. I went ahead and paid TACS online. (Confimation attached) I emailed ******* Treasurer to make sure that they received the payment made through TACS, but they stated that still owed TACS $10.57 but I never received a notice from TACS. I would like TACS to waive collection fee. As I told TACS debt collection I can not pay more than $256.98 because I am currently on workers compensation since September 27, 2021.

Our law firm is retained by the *************** ****************** to collect certain delinquent tax accounts.  Previous mailings from our office indicated the correct balance that was required to pay in full.  Statements from the ****************** would not include the attorney fees that are added to the obligation by statute and local ordinance.  ****************** even called to inquire about the balance on the day of the payment and whether it could be negotiated and continued to pay less than the amount shown due. Any remaining amounts due must be paid in order to redeem the account.

I received a letter of Lien to garnish my wages on behalf of Park *******. Which is a local Parking garage. I called TACS and was told the lien had been zeroed out and they sent me a release of lien right away. They could or would not tell me how this happened. I then called Park *******. They said I do not and have not owed them anything. My wages were garnished 25% for a lien I do not owe and now I have to work to try and get that money back. No company should just be able to take money they were not owed. No one protected. no one verified that I actually had a debt how was this company allowed to take my wages for a debt that does not exist. Per the company the y supposedly represent. This has been stressful at Christmas with 4 kids every bit of my paycheck counts. I have anxiety issues and have suffered from multiple panic attacks as a result of this company's negligence and Fraudulent practices.

Taxing Authority Consulting Services, PC is a law firm working with the *************** to collect certain delinquent tax and other accounts.  There are in fact sums due the City and we were attempting to collect those amounts. Pursuant to ******** Code Section 58.1-3952, administrative liens are permitted to collect the sums due for government obligations.  It appears we have discussed the matter with the taxpayer and a payment plan has been reached allowing the liens to be removed.
