yearMy car was towed in Arlington ** from a spot that allowed 30 minutes parking. My son and I stepped out from the car to get a ********* (withing the shoping center) and use bathroom, it took us less than minutes to get back to car, we realized car was gone. My son had soccer tournament, we stepped out without jackets, he only had his jersey on as we literally walked less then minute outside to the *********. Poor thing was freezing outside while we had to walk to get our car that was unlawfully towed. Towed my work truck for the 2nd time , I have a handicap decal , condo decal , but they always find excuses or reason to town my truck , the harassment is incredible , racism is incredible, disrespect and lies about they ******************* told them to tow my truck . There is no light to see street marks and the are other cars also parked between marks that you cant see at 2 AM !!but they town my work truck .. because they are targeting my personal.Initial Complaint

I parked on the parking lot behind **************** in Claredon. I paid for 1 hour parking, when I arrived to pick up my car, it was towed even when it was 3 min left. I went to the towing company parking lot but the lady told me I passed the time. They said they picked up the car 6 min after the expiration. I tried to call them 16 times without any luck. I am a food delivery driver for **** **** and had hazards on, parked without obstructing traffic for less than five minutes directly in front of ** ****** in order to come inside and pick up the order, when I was towed by this predatory company. Was charged 215$ for leaving my car unattended for 5 minutes, and arriving at the tow center within half an hour. According to 14.3-7, 1A of the Arlington County Towing Code, they are required to post outside their business all fees they charge, but as the picture I have attached shows, their sign does not include all of the fees I was charged, and does not even include $ values for some fees. The tow center attendant refused to take card and only would take cash, despite it being 10PM at night and me being without cash, which violates 14.3-7 1B. For this reason, I called the non-emergency police to help due to the attendants refusal to let me pay with a card payment. Most importantly, however, the back bumper of my car was damaged in the process of towing, with a scratch and indent I have provided a picture of. This company has been featured on many local news sources for having recieved hundreds upon hundreds of complaints filed on them in recent years, and it is a shame that nothing has been done to change their horrible practice, that is sucking the life out of Ballston and abusing Arlington residents.Initial Complaint

On December 4, 2023, the Advanced Towing Company towed my boyfriend’s car from the lot located **** ****** ****, Arlington, VA. The two of us arrived there around 5:45pm as we are members of the ****** *** and were there to workout. We parked in what we thought was an open parking spot and were in the gym until 7:27pm. The parking spots of that lot are not clearly marked and have not been repainted in what seems like years. The lot is also shared amongst four other local businesses. It was also evening time and with it being fall, it’s gotten very dark much earlier.
We leave the gym at 7:27pm to see that our car is no longer in the parking spot. We assume the car was stolen but notice the parking sign with Advanced Towing Company phone number. I call and a staff member informs me the car was towed from the lot at 7:22pm. The company would not release the car until I paid a ridiculous fee of $185. They also scanned my license to confirm my identity. I sincerely felt coerced by the staff members to pay this fee.
My boyfriend and I were in gym apparel and have proof we were in the gym when we said we were thus entitled to utilize the parking lot as we have a membership. I am certain this company utilizes “look outs” and monitors parking lots. My desired outcome in the situation is a refund on the fee and a moratorium on this company operating on that lot in the name of these local businesses. A suspension of the towing contract that is in place in that lot would also be a positive outcome. I spoke to a staff member of the “******* ********” location adjacent to the ****** *** and they had no idea why the company would tow our car. This company has been terrorizing the Arlington community for over a decade now. I will be filing a complaint with the Consumer Protection Bureau and the Arlington County Government.Customer Answer

Paid $155 on 11/17/2023 a little before 4:00PM after getting my car towed at the Arlington ******* ****** (******** **** malls ma,***** drive up lot) while my hazard lights were on because I was going inside to pick up an online oreee for my cousin who passed aways 12 year old daughter. He was only 40 years old and passed away from leukemia this month and this dress was specifically for the funeral today, Saturday 11/18/2023 which I explained to the driver of the tow truck because I saw him as I came out not even 5 minutes after going inside towing my vehicle (he was possibly ****** ******* never got his name). He got smart and told me I could either pay or that was it, as I was talking to him, KINDLY speaking him to even going as far as calling him brother and explaining what I was doing and that I didn't know I couldn't park in that side, he drove off out of nowhere. I explained this all to the customer service rep at the two company and she cussed me out and told me I had to pay in cash because she refused to let me use credit or debit so I couldn't dispute it. There were other cars there and I've read that he sits at a lot nearby waiting for cars to go there. In my honest opinion, he saw a young ***** male in me and wanted to show off power instead of doing it to any of the ********* couples/drivers that did the same exact thing BEFORE me getting there and were still there during all of this. I've read too that in 2021 the Virginia attorney general has a consumer lawsuit against them. This business is fraudulent and racist and something needs to be done about it.Initial Complaint

We dined at a restaurant and was towed in less than 10 min of the time however we were held up by staff over mishandling on their part of our bill. The issue I find predatory is the tow company had taken the car and disappeared clear out of the area in such short time. It’s very predatory not to have any grace period. They may have some relationship with the area stores or something with the parking lot where they literally give the person notice and then the time It takes to walk There they have already stolen your vehicle so my bill On my anniversary as a veteran and wife went from $100 To $300+ because of their predatory practice. Additionally, the worker who answered the phone was rude as hell!
