More than a three month ordeal trying to select my **** provider so that I can actually use my benefits, and still no resolution. **************** seems to be incentivized by number of emails sent rather than actually resolving situations. Don't use for insurance if you actually ever plan to use you benefits. If something as simple as selecting your *** provider is this bad, good luck if there are ever any billing or other issues.

Straight up rip off. Omitted information about high deductibles and co pays. Locking customers into ********************** plans that pay out nothing. This insurance is useless! Can't even go to a primary doctor with out paying $3500 deductible. What use is that? Is it just for show? We pay the premium every month for what? Not able to use basic doctor visits, have to pay into the insurance through premiums and deductible to have 80% of a doctor visit paid for! Completely unethical and immoral! Yall should be ashamed of yourselves! Once the rip off of being locked into this sham for a year, I'm dropping you! This should be illegal!

Like others here, I had two major issues. First, using the "Auto Pay" option on the web portal resulted in mis-billing, and automatic cancellation of coverage for NOT paying. What's the point of using Auto Pay if they can't even charge their customers correctly and result in loss of coverage. Then, when my 8yo needed to have a tooth removed, they let me know -- well after the fact -- that their business practice is having us pay for coverage, but then not actually covering anything. Debacle after debacle with this company. Do not use this company for dental insurance. You're better off with an honest company that isn't going to squeeze you and your family for every *****. 0 stars.

Dental Plans: I would give 0 stars if it was an option. Crooked business practices. They have a list of providers in network. I went to an in-network provider FROM THIER LIST and they are denying my 1st and only claim saying the doctor is out of network (the only doctor at the facility). Again, they emailed me the list! They give the insured an explanation of what the plan will cover, which is false advertising as it is VERY different than the FaxBack sheet of coverage that only the dentist office can see. There is a 90 day "healing" period between having your teeth examined and x-rayed (not worked on, just a regular 6 month take a look type of exam) and a cleaning, which they trick the insured with by saying there is no "waiting" period for these services...semantics! While speaking to their representatives over the phone, they expect you to know codes, which is insane. One representative will say one thing..the next another. Crooked business and absolutely SHOULD NOT be one of the market place options - they are horrible, sneaky, and just steal your money from monthly premiums until you get wise enough to cancel. The WORST of the WORST.

Most reviews here have to do with dental coverage. But they also provide health insurance. In my case, EMI is a "third party administrator" for Aetna.EMI/Aetna won't pay for the new Alzheimer's drug (Leqembi) that is proven to extend lives. I have spent $60,000 out-of-pocket as my wife has Alzheimer's. ******** and BCBS both will pay for it.

They literally over charged me on my deductible and refuse to refund the amount over payed. I would consider that fraud/theft.Someone needs to investigate this company!

We would be happy to explain why it may appear that you are paying more than the expected deductible because you made a plan change and you are seeing an out of network provider. If you would like to discuss this in more detail please contact us at ******************************

Extreme case of the run around with the usual, "there is a 12 month waiting period", I've had coverage for 17 months;"Please submit a copy of this letter along with the x-ray(s) and narrative to dental-predet at emihealth.co", the provider has submitted the information 4 different times,"all services were determined not to be covered", they are covered according to my policy and the usual customer representative saying they will address the issue, and nothing happens, and the pre-determination representative actually asked why did the provider need to know what EMI was going to pay for the services provided. These people should be investigated.

I am currently having a terrible situation with EMI Health. I signed up via Market Place for dental insurance, my plan started 5/1/24. On 5/6/24, my tooth broke. I called in to receive my ID number in which they informed me there was a 6 month waiting period to use "basic" services. This information was not readily available during my plan selection.I spoke with a customer service advocate twice and had sent an email. They all told me the same thing, there's nothing they can do for me. I spoke with a supervisor, I offered to pay the 6 months to bypass the waiting period, again no. They suggested I find another plan! Terrible service! It's obvious they do not care about their customers.

Unfortunately, dental waiting periods are an industry standard practice to maintain the cost of premiums at lower rates. I'm sorry for your situation. We would love to keep your business and continue our partnership to protect your dental health.

Very difficult to actually get reimbursed for payment. I had EMI starting June 2023. In March 2024, I still have not been reimbursed for services from July and September 2023. I have called at least four times in these months to request payment along with additional contact from my dentist. I've received a digital EOB stating that I should be reimbursed, but still have not received payment. On a different call closer to the date of payment (perhaps August or September) I remember being told that their system "couldn't tell" if they had been billed by the dentist or if it was being processed. Weird. Also, money paid for services above "allowable" amount don't count towards deductible. This means if you pay $114 for a covered service, but only $49 is "allowable" and you are at the start of the benefit year. This means that they don't have to pay $49 because it is still part of the deductible- the other $65 doesn't count towards the deductible. This might be normal, but isn't clear when one signs up for EMI's insurance. While I recognize that health insurance is scammy by nature, this company seems particularly egregious and difficult to deal with. My dentist historically has been incredibly competent in dealing with insurance and has been regularly in touch in addition to my contact, so I know that it is not an error on the dentist's end. Don't get EMI insurance. I won't do it again!

Appalled. Two 45-minute phone calls only to finally be told that they cannot even give me an approximation for how much they will reimburse for a standard office visit. Had they just told me that upfront I would have been annoyed but I would have understood. It's eye popping to be told outright that basic transparency in health care fees is not within the rights of customers.
