Important information
- Advertising Review:
On November 28, 2023, BBB requested that Conservice substantiate, modify, or discontinue advertising claims made on their website at https://www.conservice.com/
Objective Superlative:
The business’s website claims “nation’s largest,” “the nation’s #1 multifamily utility management service provider,” and similar claims. According to BBB’s Code of Advertising, superlative statements in advertisements about the tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service are objective claims for which the advertiser must possess substantiation as they can be based upon accepted standards or tests. As statements of fact, such claims, like ‘#1 in new car sales in the city,’ can be proved or disproved.
Environmental Benefit:
The business states to provide “green energy,” and other similar statements. According to the BBB Code of Advertising: advertisers should avoid broad, unqualified environmental claims such as ‘green,’ or ‘eco-friendly.’ Other claims such as ‘degradable,’ ‘recycled,’ and ‘non-toxic,’ should only be used when substantiated and properly qualified. Environmental Certifications and seals of approval may be used if properly issued. Additional disclosures are needed if not issued by an independent third-party.
Claimed Results:
The business’s website claims “energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste minimization” and similar claims. According to BBB’s Code of Advertising, claims relating to performance, energy savings, safety, efficacy or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.
At first, the business was responsive but as of April 4, 2024, the business hasn’t fulfilled BBB’s requests to substantiate, modify, or discontinue these claims.
