I repeatedly demanded Podium to stop calling our business for years. They never stop calling and if you don't call them back, they will never stop leaving voice mails. Now I must take action.

Years of calls and voicemail torture to finally reach out to the BBB (which is the first time I have ever done so). I couldn't take it anymore and your company would NEVER listen to me when I begged to back off. Worse part, we could have done business if it wasn't so obnoxious. Thank you.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID REMOVED, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

    Complaint Statement

I am submitting this complaint regarding Podium, Inc., a software communication and marketing platform based in Lehi, Utah.

My business, REMOVED, entered into a subscription agreement with Podium in June 2025 for services intended to support business communication, messaging, phone services, and social media integration. The monthly cost of the service is $609.15.

Since the beginning of the agreement, the platform has not delivered the functionality represented during the sales process. A major issue has been the inability to connect and use Instagram integration, which was presented as a key marketing component of the platform. Despite repeated communications with Podium representatives, this integration has never functioned for my account.

Additionally, the phone communication system has not worked as an effective business channel. The vast majority of calls and messages received through the system are unrelated to my medical aesthetics business. As a result, the platform has not provided the expected business functionality or value.

For approximately the past two months, I have attempted to resolve these concerns directly with Podium and requested a reasonable termination of the agreement due to the lack of service performance. Unfortunately, I have not received a meaningful response or resolution beyond being told the contract will continue until the end of the annual term.

Podium continues charging $609.15 per month for services that have not functioned as represented.

I am requesting assistance in resolving this matter and asking Podium to release my business from the remaining contract obligation without penalty due to the ongoing service deficiencies and lack of response to repeated concerns.

    Sincerely,
    REMOVED

I work for the company Port Hope Chrysler, Podium has been repeatedly contacting us for about a year now, we have repeatedly declined their services and told them we are not interested, they just keep calling and refuse to stop, we have asked to be placed on their do no contact list and they wont do so, they just keep assigning us to new agents and the whole process starts over. We would like them to stop contacting us across the board, we have unsubscribed from their emails and advised them not to call, but they refuse to stop.

I am formally disputing charges from Podium for software that was misrepresented and unusable. The salesperson promised the system would integrate with my CRM, provide reliable text-to-chat and web-to-chat, and operate without issues. In reality, web-to-chat was never provided, text-to-chat was unreliable, and the voice AI performed poorly. The system double-booked appointments and repeatedly failed, frustrating my customers and harming my business.

I spent significant time meeting weekly with Podium engineers to help fix the platform, but the system progressively worsened. Despite a 12-month contract, the service never functioned as sold. I stopped using the system over six months ago because it provided no usable value. Podium failed to deliver a working product yet continues billing and is now threatening collections.

I have notified Podium multiple times in writing that the software was unusable and that I dispute the charges. I have requested documentation of the contract, billing authorization, and proof of usage. Podium has not resolved the issue and continues collection pressure.

    Desired Resolution:
Immediate cessation of all collection activity, removal of disputed charges, and written confirmation that the account is closed with a zero balance.

This company has relentlessly contacted us; has spoken to multiple people here and has been told many times that we are not interested and to stop contacting us. After being told this multiple times on the phone, now they are emailing us and I don't even know how they got our email address. They lied to us from the start about what they were calling about and then after being told not to contact us, then they email us. We tell them we don't want to be contacted and they just obviously put us on the bottom of the list and then somehow our name rotates back up to the top every so often. We have even tried not answering the phone when their name comes up on caller id and they just keep calling back until they are told AGAIN that we are not interested. DO NOT GIVE THIS COMPANY ANY OF YOUR TIME

I am rejecting this response because,

I was a customer of REMOVEDfor 2 years I was never told during sign up that it would automatically renew every year. The contract is should not renew especially on year 2 without the ability to cancel at anytime. It is a predatory behavior and should be investigated. Company with good morals and product does not have to use such practices.

    Sincerely,

I am filing this complaint because Podium is attempting to enforce an automatic annual contract renewal even though they cannot produce the contract that supposedly contains the renewal terms.

Our company originally signed an agreement with Podium in 2021. In 2022, we signed an amendment that specifically stated it was “coterminous with the Existing Agreement dated 6/8/2021,” meaning the renewal terms, cancellation window, and contract length are determined entirely by the original 2021 agreement.

When Podium notified us of a renewal in November 2025, we requested a copy of the 2021 contract so we could verify the renewal clause and the required cancellation process. Podium then informed us that, due to a system migration, they no longer have the 2021 agreement and cannot provide the terms they are trying to enforce.

Podium has only provided a 2022 amendment, which does not contain any renewal language on its own and is not a standalone agreement. Without the original 2021 contract, there is no way for us to confirm or validate:

    • whether an auto-renewal clause was part of the agreement
    • what the renewal term length was
    • what the cancellation window was
    • what method of cancellation was required
    • what terms we were expected to follow

Despite being unable to produce the governing contract, Podium continues to insist we are bound by a renewal they cannot substantiate.

Our requested resolution is simple and reasonable:
REMOVEDTermination of the renewed term and release from any associated chargesREMOVED, since Podium cannot produce the contract that they claim authorizes the renewal.

We are not disputing past valid payments, only the enforcement of an unverified renewal based on missing documentation.

We have attempted to resolve this directly with Podium, but they maintain their position while still unable to provide the underlying agreement.

We are asking for BBB assistance in resolving this matter.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/08/2025

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention through the Better Business Bureau. We take your complaint very seriously and appreciate you giving us the opportunity to review this matter.
We have conducted a thorough investigation into your account history regarding the 2021 Service Agreement and the subsequent 2022 Amendment.
We can confirm that, as you stated, we were unable to locate a definitive copy of the original 2021 Service Agreement in our current system, which contains the governing terms for the contract length, auto-renewal clause, and required cancellation window. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration this system migration issue has caused.
Since we are unable to produce the foundational document that establishes the auto-renewal terms we were attempting to enforce, we agree with your requested resolution.
We will be processing the cancellation of your service and terminating the alleged renewed term.
Your dedicated Customer Success Manager will be calling you later today to finalize this cancellation process, discuss the exact date of termination, and ensure all your remaining questions are answered.
We recognize the importance of providing full documentation for the terms of service, and we regret that we fell short in this instance. Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve this.

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Misrepresentation and Deceptive Practices by Podium

    Dear BBB Representative,

I am submitting this complaint regarding Podium, a company that provides communication and marketing software for businesses.

When I signed up for Podium, I was misled by the salesperson, REMOVED, regarding the features of the plan. I made it very clear that my main purpose in joining Podium was for marketing and client communication through text messaging. REMOVEDassured me that the plan offering “250 bulk texts” would be sufficient — and I was led to believe this meant I could send up to 250 separate bulk text campaigns per month.

However, during the onboarding process, I discovered that the plan only allowed one bulk text per month to up to 250 recipients — which is completely different from what was represented. I immediately informed REMOVED, the onboarding representative, that this plan would not meet my needs.

Additionally, REMOVEDasked me to falsely state that I had two employees, which I found highly unprofessional and unethical. When I reported this to REMOVED, he appeared very concerned, and REMOVEDwas later terminated from Podium.

This experience has left me with serious concerns about Podium’s sales practices. The misrepresentation of service terms, combined with deceptive behavior, invalidates the contract I signed under false pretenses.

Furthermore, I have been receiving fake phone calls that all start with the number “2” through the Podium system. I had previously told them that my business rarely receives phone calls, so the sudden surge in these suspicious calls seemed designed to make it appear as though the platform was generating legitimate activity — when it clearly was not.

Podium was unable to fulfill the promises made during the initial meetings. The primary purpose of signing up was to obtain a service that would provide text updates to my customers. Podium stated that they could do this. Once the contract was signed, it was determined that the texting request could only be fulfilled by having an outside contractor write code at CAP's expense. However, we later discovered that the CRM was not compatible. I simply want this contract cancelled and monies refunded, since Podium cannot provide the services promised.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/13/2025

    Hi REMOVED,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback — I completely understand your frustration and am sorry this experience hasn’t met your expectations.
After reviewing the details with our team, including notes from the original sales and onboarding discussions, it appears that the integration you were hoping for (automated text reminders through your CRM) would require custom development by a third-party developer. This was discussed during onboarding, as it’s not a native feature currently available within the Podium platform.
Your account remains active with full access to the core services included in your plan, and our team is happy to help you continue getting value from those tools. While we’re unable to cancel or refund the contract, we’d be glad to work with you on alternative ways to achieve your goals — such as exploring workflow automations or other texting solutions within Podium that don’t require custom coding.
Please let me know if you’d like to schedule time to review those options together.

    -Podium Team
