I was told by a salesperson I would be able to cancel a one year contract after my 7 month lease was up, but that there wasn't a month to month option I could use. I was told all I would have to do is provide a copy of my lease to end my contract. There was no discussion of a penalty, just that I could end service after I moved out of my apartment. When I got a charge after I moved I realized I forgot to cancel and called to be told by customer service that I would have to pay $199 to cancel or I could move service to another address. I left several low reviews and was contacted by customer service again who gave conditions to cancelling the contract that I was not informed of by the person who sold me the contract. My current address since moving already has pest control and I would prefer not to have even more pesticides on the property but the business is making it impossible for me to cancel this contract as promised unless I provide proof I moved outside their service area.
Furthermore, the business has made no promise or mention of making sure their salespeople do not continue to lie about the nature of the contracts they sell.Business Response

Both documents clearly outline the monthly service fee and the early termination policy. By signing and initialing the agreement, and reviewing the Welcome Letter, you acknowledged and accepted the terms and conditions of the service.
If you have relocated to a residence where pest control services are already provided, we may be able to close your account without applying the early termination fee. To proceed, please submit a copy of your signed lease agreement (signed by both parties) that explicitly states pest control services are included. Once we receive and review the necessary documentation, we will follow up with next steps.

This company is a scam. With very smooth and professional sales people and LOTS of talking, they lock you into a long contract and fail to deliver on what they promise. Buyer beware! They made great promises for their routine pest control service . . . I must say I was impressed. That is until it was time for them to deliver! They promised to clean all of the eaves and overhangs from wasp and spider webs. They did none of this! They were to spray "3 feet out and 3 feet up" . . . it was more like 3 inches total. We never had an issue with our previous service . . . no real problems began till after we switched to Hawx. They totally breeched our contract by not delivering on the services as promised. They are in breech of contract.
Even worse, after admitting they dropped the ball, they still want to charge me $199 to "get out of the contract", and have started adding on late charges -- a contract they didn't even begin to uphold.
I have repeatedly communicated with them, and they act as if I am ignoring them. Each time, it's with a different contact number, emails and texts are ignored, and each phone call results in talking to a different person who has not clue about what is going on, their sole intent is to get you to pay. I have NO intention of paying. I have kept track of every method and instance of communication with them . . . These records will come quite handy when they decide to put a lien on my house or take me to court!
Poor communication, zero accountability, and shady business practices. I regret signing up and can't wait for them to stop harassing me!!!. Save yourself the stress and money -- look elsewhere.

I am rejecting this response because: As I've already stated, they did not deliver what they had promised on their very first visit. They did not schedule a second visit. I had to call them to be scheduled for their second visit . . . I waited at home ALL day for them to come on that day and late in the day I received a message from them stating that they were unable to service my property that day. I cancelled my service that day. . . . what little credibility they had at that point was lost. I have responded to all of their text and emails stating they had breached the contractual agreement and I wanted to be free of them. I have called then on two occasions to discuss this with them (in addition to my text/email responses). Both times I was asked if I was ready to submit payment . . . I answered, "no" and they hung up on be . . . both times. I have absolutely no intention of paying a service cancellation fee to a business that has not lived up to its promises. If you look at their reviews on Yelp/Google and with the BBB you will see this is a common complaint from many unsatisfied customers.

Subject: Formal Rejection of Response and Request for Account Closure Without Penalty
I am formally rejecting Hawx’s response regarding my account and cancellation. Their reply fails to acknowledge the core reasons I discontinued service, instead focusing on peripheral issues while disregarding the initial breach of service expectations.
To clarify:
• My cancellation was not solely due to the inconvenience of having to call to be placed on the schedule for what was supposed to be a recurring appointment.
• Nor was it simply because I wasted an entire day waiting for a technician who never arrived, only to be informed late in the day that service would not be provided.
These issues followed a more fundamental failure: the initial service itself was not performed as promised.
• Hawx committed to removing spider webs and wasp nests from the eaves and overhangs. This was not done.
• They also stated they would spray “three feet out and three feet up” around the perimeter. I personally observed the technician perform a single, minimal pass—approximately three inches total—which clearly did not meet the described standard.
At that point, it was evident I was not receiving the service I had been sold. When compounded by scheduling failures and lack of communication, I made the decision to cancel.
It is my understanding that a service contract requires both parties to fulfill their obligations. I was prepared to pay for services rendered as agreed. Hawx failed to deliver those services, thereby breaching the contract. As such, I do not accept any cancellation fee and request that my account be closed without further charges.
I urge Hawx to consider the full scope of this situation—not isolated incidents—and to reflect on the broader pattern of similar complaints documented in online reviews. Rather than pursuing unwarranted fees, Hawx should focus on improving service delivery and customer care.
Finally, I reject the suggestion that I should call to “discuss this further.” It is clear that the intent is to collect payment, not resolve concerns. I respectfully request that Hawx cease further contact regarding payment, refund any applicable charges, and confirm that my account has been closed.

I called company line, asking to cancel service. I had noticed high levels of activity around my home. The gentleman on the phone said they were overdue on service, apologized and acknowledged there was no service even scheduled. I told him I wanted to close my account, he said he would provide me a credit and I would only need to make a partial payment. I made the payment and he proceeded to tell me he couldn't close the account. He needed someone to come out and provide service and then I could call back and have it closed. This would have brought me into another month and required another payment. It was a bait and switch and he refused to close my account with a zero balance. We argued for a short time and when I hung up he told me the account was closed and I had a zero balance. I have proceeded to continue to get e-mail saying I still owe money. I called again today and the person I spoke to said I was wrong and the charge was valid. The previous gentleman lied and did not close out my account. I had not gotten my quarterly service, he acknowledged it was a mistake and that my account would be closed and clear. Bait and switch tactics should not be permitted.Business Response

Supervisors or managers of the company refuse to discuss with the customer the inability to schedule a suitable appointment time. Trying to make an appt for Saturday between 8 and noon. This appointment is never available on the app, and so when I call to try to make an appointment, I am told that there is never an appointment available at this time. When I ask to talk to a supervisor or manager, they refuse to let me speak to anyone higher up. We initially signed up with Hawx for pest control in 2024. When the contract expired, we wanted a couple more months. Apparently they had my wife sign the contract renewing the first without the original contract (so she couldn't see the fees tied to ending the contract) and just updated the names. This underhanded technique not being enough, they treated our property when we explicitly requested they did not, they had someone claim we had an infestation another group saw no evidence of, and their mailing address for cancelation in the contract was not even valid. Yet, after all this, when we just want to end our relationship with Hawx, they insist we owe them a fee. After falsely claiming we had an infestation, treating despite our request, and playing underhanded games with the contract, they still claim we owe them money. We want nothing to do with them and would be content to simply go our seperate ways.Business Response

I spoke with ****** account manager on 08/8/2025 to cancel my service because I am selling my home. ****** offered to have someone provide a final service on 8/12/2025 because the account would close on 8/19/25. Today I reached out because I see two charges from Hawx pest control on my banking app. I called today 9/5/25 I spoke with ******* who advised that I was supposed to call and confirm my cancellation. I was not advised that, I was advised to tell the buyer of the home that they could transfer the service for $50. They continue to send sales representatives to our house to talk about future services, and we have asked them repeatedly to be taken off their lists--some of these **** have been quite rude, insisting on not taking "No" for an answer. Consumer protection laws are in place for a reason. This company sold us a monthly plan and then tried to charge us an early termination penalty that was never disclosed in our discussions with the rep. Furthermore, there services did not work. On [insert date], a Hawx Pest Control salesperson visited my home in Frisco, Texas. I made it clear that I did not want a contract and only wanted a one-time pest control service. The salesperson agreed and performed a one-time service.
However, after the service, the company began contacting me and falsely claiming that I had agreed to a year-long service contract costing $438. I never signed any such agreement nor authorized recurring services.
Since then, I have received repeated calls and text messages demanding payment, including this message:
“We wanted to send a quick reminder that your $438 payment is due. Please log into your Hawx portal to pay. You can reach us at ************.”
I have requested that Hawx send the salesperson who promised the one-time service to clarify the situation, but they refuse. Instead, they continue to harass me for payment for a service plan I never agreed to.
Why I Am Complaining:
This is misrepresentation and an unfair sales practice.
I explicitly refused a contract and only agreed to a single service.
The company is attempting to collect money for services not agreed upon.
