My vet of 25+ years recently retired, so we needed a new veterinarian. Thrive ******** in a suburb of *******, was right across the street, so we decided to give them a try. I was escorted to an exam room for my dogs annual exam and vaccines, but they did not perform any exam, bloodwork, stool sample right there in the exam room. They removed him from the room and took him in back to do all of the testing. At my previous vet, the techs and vet did everything right there in the exam room with us present. I wondered what they were hiding? I also inquired about getting his teeth cleaned and they quoted me almost 4 times what my previous veterinarian charged for the same service. In addition, they couldn't perform the service at this location. I would have to go to another location in *******. When I was there, I asked about getting his heartworm refilled when it was time. I order a three-in-one heartworm/flea/tick medication from an online company, because it's cheaper. They said that was not a problem, but denied the request and wanted me to come in for a heartworm test. They let my dogs heartworm coverage lapse, so now I will have to find a new veterinarian and probably have a heartworm test done before they will prescribe anything. I will never return to Thrive due to their incompetence! I would give them 0 stars if I could! It should also be a red flag that their own website does not allow you to leave a review.

I would not give this business any stars but had to toleave this review. This is a three ************** hospital that was sold to Thrive Pet Healthcare in ******, **. They have completed destroyed what used to be the ******** hospital in the area. They are so understaffed that no one answers the phone, the wait time is about three hours for long established patients, and the poor people who work there are quitting in droves because the environment is SO unpleasant for clients, doctors and staff alike.

Our Dog was treated by North Star I. Maple shade they diagnosed him with some type of tick disease. They said it wasn't Lyme's. They gave us antibiotics and pain medicine for him and they said within twenty four to forty eight hours he would be back to normal we told them he has not been eating or drinking and he can't seem to walk on his right front paw and his back right leg. He is only 10 months old. Well that was on a Thursday. He did make any improvements form the medicine. So I called North Star in Maple shade and told them. Thei was Saturday Oct. 8. They advised me to take him to there other facilitiy in *********** **. We took him there and the nurse came out to get his vitals. Then she said it will be a little wait. We got there at 3:40pm. I saw other patients coming in and being taken back before us. I asked how much longer they said well you arrived here at 3:40 it's now six and bc you arrived late you have six people ahead of you I asked why were other being brought back they didn't look like they were in need of immediate medical attention. She say they had appointments. Well if you are an emergency facility why do you take appointments over emergency.??? Her answer was well that is the way it is. We finally get taken back and waited another twenty min till the doc came in. North Star in Maple shade said they would call them and send his records. Well the doc said not all his records came through. So again I explained what is going on with my German Shepherd. He has not had anything to eat for a week we gave him eggs and I told her I was having a hard time getting him to take his medicine. He refuses treats and won't take the pain medicine. So she give him a shot of methodoine so they can ex ray him. We sit and wait another half hour just to have him exrayed. She said the exray shows some type of bone issues that ********* get. To keep him was very costly. She said it could be this or that. So we left after waiting for seven hours the worst place ever

Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists gave our dog a death sentence and we took her home and I worked with her all night and saved her life. She was shaking, almost dead and these people don't care.We recently adopted a dog, and she became sick and started vomiting and would not eat. She had all her shots including *****. We took her to Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists: They gave her a Parvo test at a cost of $260, which came back negative.Further they wanted to do $1200.00 dollars in additional tests to see what was wrong with her. They suspected all along she had an obstruction in her intestines but was milking the gig and attempting to take all our money before they kicked us to the curb.It is obvious that veterinary care has became more about money than the health of your family pet.Something I learned awhile back on ****** I tried with her. I put my arms around her and gently worked her intestines.I heard a sound in her guts and continued to love her and message her all night. The next morning, she woke up and was highly active and hungry. I gave her a small amount of food and gave her water.Later she pooped a little red ball which she had a swallowed. She is doing so much better now and hoping she has a 100 percent comeback with no thanks to Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists. ***************************************************************************************

I believe NorthStar Vets is an ******************. A few years ago I Adopted a sick ferret with a chronic illness made many trips to the emergency room. If the triage nurse felt my pet needed immediate care they took him in right away if not I had to wait my turn. I also own a mini dachshund who recently had back surgery by the neurologist at NorthStar vets.. in my opinion, you couldnt get better care. Yeah one or two people at the front desk are not the friendliest but that happens anywhere you go. The doctors there have many years of experience. People come from all over because its a ************** with excellent doctors! Just wanted to share this with anyone who needs help for there animal.

Took my cat in for an exam, he had fur missing on all four legs. He had not been scratching at all and was on flea meds. Staff took him back supposedly to be looked at by the vet, they told me he had fleas and was covered in flea dirt. Ive had cats for 20 years, I know how to check my cats for fleas and flea dirt, he didnt have either. They told me my flea meds werent working, that only ****************, and charged me $79. I spent the money for the Revolution and waited two months, no improvement. I took my cat to a traditional vet and found out he had a staph infection that was causing his fur to fall out, 30 days of a basic antibiotic and hes completely better. The traditional vet cost me $130 with the medication. Thrive apparently doesnt have qualified vets on staff, or the vets arent actually seeing the animals. They dont do the exams in the room with you so who knows what they do in the back. Thrive is a waste of money and dangerously incompetent when my pets health is at stake.

If you need anything more that a rabies vaccination for your animal then I would recommend going to a traditional pet.I used the ********** location a number of times for routine things like vaccinations and nail clipping. I recently switched to the fountain view location and was so horribly disappointed and frustrated I will no longer go to any of their locations I don't care if it is literally across the street from my house. The staff is so confused, unknowledgeable and unable to assist or even speak clearly it is a disgrace. The number of times they require you to come back for a minor break in a foot was absolutely ridiculous and stating that they are available for walk ins is laughable!!! They will not see your pet if there is an emergency!!! Everything they say they are... THEY ARE NOT!!!!! If I could leave a negative rating I would have!
