I had two conversations while shopping for a mortgage. The first person I chatted with was polite and helpful. He said he would connect me with a loan officer. This loan officer was the biggest clown I have ever tried having a professional conversation with. Because of the nature of my job I talk to people all day every day. I have probably had over a hundred thousand conversations or more in the last decade. This person takes the cake as my WORST interaction. Not even close. First, he spent 5 minutes shaming me and doubting that I got qualified for a 400k mortgage with my income. I make 95k with a 10k annual bonus. My debt to income was coming in below the figure, and I had not one but two preapprovals. Why the **** are we questioning my approval worthiness when much more credible institutions have both done so already? I then asked for a rate quote. He then pretended this was not something he could provide me and conflated this with giving me a rate lock. I didn't ask nor need a rate lock. I wanted a quote to compare. That's it. I mentioned I had already been quoted rates and was quoted rates when I bought my home in 2018. I never said "rate lock" btw. This "professional" then proceeded to tell me that was "the dumbest thing he has ever heard". I don't know where you find people like this, or why anyone would think someone who talks to a potential client this way is bringing value to their business. I essentially told him to go kick rocks and ended the call. I talk to people on a daily who make 3-4 times what this man makes, and never have I had any issue communicating with any of them. Maybe he felt some type of way that he can't get approved for a 400k loan on his own as I can at age 33. Either way, I can understand why these people have the rating they have. I don't want to dox him, but he is named after a bitter beverage you brew. He lost you my business. Expect more negative reviews.
