Exeter Finance owes me a refund of a gap insurance contract in the amount of $894.66. At their request the dealership from which I purchased the vehicle overnighted them a refund check on 05/14/2025 (after the warranty company issued the refund to them-************ of Columbia (owned by ***************************)) with Exeter Finances name as the recipient. Exeter Finance told me to allow 30 days for processing and a check be mailed to me to address ***************************************** (my last address on file). However, after multiple failed attempts to get an answer from their customer service department via phone and email, I am demanding a refund of the monies owed.Business Response

I have a financial contract with Exeter Finance in Irving ** that was set up via ************************ in ************ ** my account was for 14k and Ive been with them for over 5 years and still owe over 7.4K. Every time ive made a payment even payments higher then my monthly there are extra fees that appear and now for the month of July Im being told I am late making said payment and my car was repoed from my place of employment without notice and now after paying $900 to have my car released they are refusing to release. The tow company they engaged is from ******** and they too are refusing to release the car back to me. I have personal property inside the vehicle including medication thats needed and yet I can't get anything. This company and the tow company they do business with are stealing from us and not doing things legally I feel.Business Response

On 7/3/2025 Exeter. Finance contacted me in regards of a payment I stated to the Employee Under the ****** I am requesting no further phone calls. Please send all future communications in writing. If you continue to call, I will ***ort this harassment to the ************************************. The Employee responded and said that they cannot do that. She said that theres money that is owed on this account. I stated to Employee, can she transfer me to a manager? The manager got on the line said that theyre not able to give anything in writing. What was stated in the call, my account information nor the request to stop the calls. I asked for the name of the previous *** I was speaking to name she stated give me a min I waited on line that manager disconnected the call. It was a pushback in regards of stopping the calls and getting anything in writing, they both refuse to give me anything in writing. In result of this harassment . I am requesting to remove this charge off from my credit due to the harassment.Business Response

I contacted Exeter regarding ***ossessing my vehicle. They said they would have someone come to collect it but needed to have it be approved. I told them I can not pay the monthly amount and the ***air from a recent accident. The car was drivable but I was told it needed ***airs on the rear differential. My apt complex had it towed before the bank. I contacted Exeter again to explain the situation and was told by their *** that they would be able to pick it up from the holding area for the company that towed it and not to worry. I waited a few days and contacted Exeter again o my to be told that they deemed the vehicle to be not in their interest to pick up and they would continue assessing fees until the maturity of the loan in 2030 so I would be responsible to continue paying. I told them that collection laws have not worked that way and they had said theyd pick it up. I was then told that if I had the car in my possession then they would get it but if they came to my home and did an inspection they could still reject taking possession of the car so the only option I had was was to continue paying on it until the maturity date since they could not guarantee that it would go into collections or any future settlement offer so it would be in my best interest to continue paying the approx $600/mth they were charging.Business Response

I Recently reviewed my credit report and noticed an account that was not reporting accurately, i had two late payments on an account that i was in fact paid on time The consumer reporting agencies need to report all information with complete accuracy, This account has not been late payments I've attached a copy of my report to this complaint on the following dates (***** ***** - ********** ***********). On June 22, 2025, Exeter Finance repossessed my 2019 Tesla Model 3. The repossession agent provided a handwritten note and verbal commitment that the vehicle would be stored at ********************* for ******************************************************************************************************** proper sale information. This is deceptive and unreasonable handling of collateral. I want records, correction of credit reporting, no deficiency collection, and resolution for the harm caused.Business Response

I financed my car in 2018 and I have been goin back and forth with Exeter about the unexplained fees added to my account on the statement of my account the are strong arming me in to paying extra fees (other fees) totaling $937.44 that they will not explain to me what they are for every time I call they say they are going to look in to it and will call me back and don't. when I call them then I am left on hold then the *** hangs up.Business Response

Yes last month an agent called me since I was past due by half of the payment, I advised I post my job she said once I make last months payment that was for May that I will qualify to skip up to 3 months of payments, so I did even if it put me in a bind and so I called today like she said and they said it was denied since I need to make June payment but thats not what the agent said last month when she called me and the manager didnt care and was rude that I spoke to today I even advised to speak to her manager she refused and didnt care what I was toldBusiness Response

When I initially set up my auto loan through the dealership ( ***********) I set up auto payments to Exeter Finance , then the money never came out of my account so I tried calling them after 8 am to make the payment but theyre system kept saying to call back during business hours and I already had been. So before my next payment I called again and got someone and scheduled auto payments for my next paycheck and they didn't come out on the scheduled time so I manually paid with the automated phone system. Well I checked my bank account and all 3 payments have posted and I want one returned, but again I can't get in contact with them.
