On a Gold Standard Auction 01/19/2023 - 01/22/2023 I purchased $ ********* the value of numismatic coins that Gold Standard Auction represented to be authentic and had a certain MS ***** that I went by to value these coins. Then again on an Gold Standard Auction 01/26th-29th I purchased $ ********* of more numismatic coins and gold and silver bullion based again on there representation of the MS ***** and the description of the items they had in there Auction. And then again in another Gold Standard Auction 02/09/2023 I purchased $ ****** of numismatic coins again based on there representation of the coins . And again on Gold Standard Auction on Feb. 23- Feb. 26th I purchased $ ******* the value of numismatic coins based again on Gold Standard Auction MS *****. Also in a Gold Standard Auction March 2nd-5th 2023 I purchased another Coin valued at ******* based again on there value of this coin. Since then I have taken some of these coins to, 2 Local Coin Shops and I found out that the coins were valued at 10% of what i paid for them. Once I found this out I contacted Gold Standard Auction and talked to an employee named ** and he told me that he would have the Owner ( ********* ) get in contact with me. After several attempts to contact him ********* did finally contact me. When I told him my problem with the coins he told me to take then the South ****** Coin Exchange ( **************) and see what they told me. I did and was also told that the coins weren't valued at the value that Gold Standard Auction had them valued at based on the MS ***** that they advertised at. I then called Gold Standard Auction back and again talked to KJ and he said that he would have ********* contact me to talk about the issue I had with the coins. And ********* did call me and I told him what South ****** Coin Exchange ( ************** ) told me, at that time he told me that if wanted to I could send the coins back and he would sell me Gold and Silver in there place. So in April I sent him $ ********* plus $ ******* Buyers Premium for a total of $ ********* and in the meantime i sent 4 of the Gold Coins to PCGS a leader in numismatic coin grading . When I received the coins back from PCGS 1 had been cleaned another was damaged and the other 2 would not cross over. During that period Gold Standard sent me an email and offer to reimburse me $ ********* of the $ *********.I want my money BACK !

We here at Gold Standard Auctions take customer concerns very seriously.  We will discuss internally and reach out to consumer to address his concerns.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 09/24/2023

I am rejecting this response because:   Gold Standard Auction has had 6 months to talk to their team and they havent tried to give me anywhere near what I paid for the coins that I returned to them. So now the only thing that I am willing to do is return the entire purchase to them for a full refund of monies that I paid them in good faith based on their representation of these numismatic coins and the Guide Price that they said they were worth and the MS ***** they represented them to be !!!

We here at Gold Standard Auctions take client concerns very seriously.  We intend to address this concern this week.  We would ask that consumer doesn't respond to the automatic "Are You Satisfied" message you will get from the BBB as we will not have spoken to consumer until this week.  We will address this week.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 09/29/2023

I am rejecting this response because:   They said in there response that they would be reaching out to me this week and as of 9/29/2023 at 12:49 pm I havent heard anything from Gold Standard Auction. This is same response that I have received from them since I started trying to work with them in March. No RESPONSE !!!!!  They have my phone number and my email address if they were going to try and work this situation out they would have done so by now.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 10/18/2023

I received Gold Standard Auctions reply that they would be in contact with me the week of 9/25/23-9/29/23 and as of 10/18/23 I still haven't heard anything from them to resolve this problem. So my next step is to contact the ****************** and file Theft and Fraud charges against them for taking $ ********* worth of the coins that I sent back to them that were supposed to be replaced with Gold and Silver and also for selling me Damaged and Cleaned Numismatic Coins. They offered me $ ********* for the coins that i had paid them $ *********.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 11/07/2023

I purchased some numismatic coins from this business and they were represented to be a over $ ********* of Numismatic Coins from Gold Standard Auction and when I received them I carried some to my local coin dealers and they said that they weren't worth anything near what they had shown as the value Gold Standard Auction had advertised based on the MS ***** that was advertised and also what they advertised as a guide price for these coins. I sent some of the coins to PCGS a professional coin grading service and received a report that one of the 4 coins was cleaned and that made the basically worthless one was damaged and it also was worthless and the other 2 would not grade. I sent $ ********* of these coins back to the in April and now I can't get them to refund my money of send me the coins back. If you look at the ***** Attorney Generals Website you can see that this is a regular practice for this company.

    Customer Answer

I bought quite a lot of coins over the last few months. Many of which I sent into grading with PCGS. 2 coins came back as counterfeit, one was a **** ****** than had the mint **** shaved off to make it look like a more valuable coin than it actually was. The other was an ****-***************** that was completely fake. Almost all the others came back as having been cleaned, tooled, or repaired. At that point the coin is worth the content of the metal and not much more. Most of these coins were given a very high estimated price and grading by GSA in their auction. The counterfeiting crosses over from unethical to illegal. On occasion you'll come across a coin graded by one of the reputable grading services and those should be safe but you'll pay nearly full price. One coin I won was a **** ****** graded ms62 by ANACS. I managed to win at a low price, unsurprisingly GSA did not send the coin. when I caught the mistake they tried to spin a story how it was shipped separately then lost in transit. GSA had never shipped a coin separately and no tracking info was ever provided. When I contested their story they began to cover their tracks and spin a completely different story. they sent a screenshot of a cancelled tracking number that was made the day that this issue was brought up but had never been used and nothing had been shipped with it. Very deceitful, unethical, and criminal behavior.

we here at Gold standard Auctions take customer complaints and concerns very seriously.  We do all we can to resolve any issues that our clients may have.  But we are at our wit's end with trying to make ************ happy.  So first, ************ had a complaint about one coin.  We gladly refunded him.  But that wasn't enough.  ************ then came back and wanted a refund for two more coins.  However this time, Mr. ********** didn't want to return the coins in order to get a refund.  We explained to ************ that there is no company in the world that would give a refund before the merchandise was returned. ************, dug his feet in and refused.  He then made this complaint and numerous others.  To try to satisfy him, we wrote a binding agreement to make him feel more comfortable about returning the merchandise.  ************ once again refused. Bottom-line is we are willing to 100% refund ************ and our offer will stand.  But we can't give a refund without a return of the merchandise.

    Customer Answer

GSA refunded money back to a credit card that wasnt even used for this transaction. The other two coins came back to me from PCGS after the original complaint. Also GSA has failed to address other concerns. GSA has lied throughout the entire process and no point has been forthright. I didnt accept their agreement because I have no faith they will abide by it.
the original complaint revolved around a purchase that I didnt receive. They never told me it wasnt sent and it was by luck that I caught the omission. GSA then dragged their feet and concocted a story that it was shipped but lost in transit. The story didnt add up so I challenged them on it. GSA double down on their story. It has come to light that they story was a complete fabrication. I would like GSA to acknowledge that and quit playing victim. They couldnt have shipped that coin because they had already sold it on ***** It couldnt have been lost in transit and the **** tracking they created to try and cover their tracks was an absolute lie. What if I hadnt notice the coin was missing from the package? Why would GSA accept funds for a coin they already sold? Why wouldnt they be transparent and take initiative to refund the money back the same way it was paid when they realized they had no coin to ship? Was G.S.A. hoping I wouldnt notice and be able to profit more?  Ive been told over and over by GSA they are being forthright and honest but that just isnt the case.

Nearly every coin that I purchased from GSA  has come back from grading service as cleaned, manipulated, repaired to look like it is in better condition than it was, or outright counterfeit.  GSA advertised and showed these coins as being higher grade and value than they actually could ever be. They are very deceptive in their marketing and sales practices. Through their attorney i also asked if GSA would consider buying back these coins that Ive purchased over the previous few months. That was never acknowledged neither was asking about the original complaint.

I am rejecting this response because:   GSA has failed to address complaint in satisfactory manner. They continue to advertise and market in deceitful manner. They still wont acknowledge that they had fabricated the story regarding missing item. They have yet to explain why they took my money, shipped the rest of my order with the item missing, and at no point notified me that the item I was awaiting wasnt available because they had already sold it on ***** I caught them in their deceit and they then refunded money back into a credit card that wasnt even used for this particular transaction.

I have asked about the rest of the coins I overpaid for based on their deceptive practices. I would like to return as much as possible including the counterfeit items they sold me.

at no point has GSA even acknowledged they made a mistake let alone acted fraudulently. I will continue to pursue this matter with the various platforms they use for auctioning items. Live Auctioneers fraud team is already reviewing the matter as well as *****

Gold Standard Auction is claiming grades to coins that are not backed up back a legitimate source and since they didn't provide me any documentation, not backed up at all. This is all to run their prices up on their auctions. In my uploaded pictures you can see that they clearly marked the picture for this coin as MS64. Then the verbiage they put on called it "Choice BU" giving it a value near $35k. After being forced by the company to get it professionally graded to fight their grading claims, it came back as a XF91 which is worthless compared to the MS64 they claimed they were selling. I've never had coins graded before so they cost me a PCGS membership, a grading fee and shipping as well has they loss of my money I spent on the coin during the duration of this issue.

We here at GSA take client concerns very seriously.  We have previously speaking to this consumer about his concern however, consumer is upset about the length of time it has taken to resolve this issue. We have asked our staff to expedite this resolution.  We are looking to resolve this with consumer.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/16/2023

We here are Gold standard Auctions do our best to make that all consumer concerns are addressed.  What is unique about our business is that we are an auction based company.  Our consumers make purchases on the perceived value of a certain product.  The issue is value is relative. One person's opinion of value can be completely different than someone else for the exact same product. Our buyers are never guaranteed a perceived value and there is a risk that all buyers take on.  Such is the case with this consumer.  While we would like to resolve the issue but unfortunately, consumers demands are based on perceived value.  GSA stands by out decision to not offer a refund in this instance.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/16/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

Lets start with two quotes from GSA in previous communications. (The entire email thread is also attached for review.)

As a rehash of that email, we would require documentation from one of the grading companies supporting your concerns of artificial toning. Once the information is provided, we can go ahead and process a resolution at that point. GSA 6/21, 10:51?AM

Yes, you would need to have it sent to a grading company if you do not have documentation stating your concerns. We are aware that coins sent in for grading can take some time so we do work around that. GSA 6/21, 10:51?AM

In previous communication the requirement to kick off the refund process was getting the coin graded, which I did based on your request. I have met the requirement by getting the coin graded by PCGS. I have also confirmed that your grading was not accurate.

In addition to that, grading is not a matter of perceived value. Grading is a matter of a product's condition. The perceived value *** vary for different grades, but the grade doesnt vary based on dollar value.

GSA made the claim in the front picture for this coin that it was MS64. (which is also uploaded to BBB) In the verbiage GSA claimed it was Choice BU which would put this at MS64+. Now that it's graded by PCGS as XF91 we know this was not professionally graded for those claims.

It is playing to see that GSA attempted to send me on a wild goose chase thinking they would never hear back about this. Now that I actually followed through with the grading they are attempting to play a perceived value loophole which is not the case.

It's really simple. Through GSA I bought a MS64 1874-CC Silver Trade Dollar. They provided me with a XF91 1874-CC Silver Trade Dollar. Time for a Full Refund.

************** as to why the BBB would not take both sides of this issue into consideration.  Bottom line is not every conflict is going to be resolved to bot h sides satisfaction.  we do not agree with the consumer,  nor do we agree with his gripe.  To make the states that we didn't make all efforts to resolve this issue is just not true.  We did take what the consumer issue was into consideration but we just don't agree with it.  It doesn't mean that we didn't try to resolve this issue.  We ask that the BBB reconsiders their position on this. Thanks

    Customer Answer

    Date: 09/12/2023

The BBB is only looking at the facts.

Fact is I met your request to get the coin graded. Which I had to do because it was never graded. Meaning GSA had no right to labeled the product online as MS64.

GSA literally focuses on selling coins. There is no excuse to exaggerate the condition of a coin.

Its clearly in GSA's best interest to get the highest bid on any auction. GSA has no fear in fraudfully labeling product because they can simply refuse returns and keep the money, even when they are in the wrong.

In your About Us on www.bidgoldstandard.com you mention that GSA provides "a reliable and trustworthy place for collectors." I thank you for making it laughable.

I hope having this thread online for the world to see prevent further consumer fraud with GSA.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/08/2023

We did our absolute best to try to make this work.  We are sorry that the BBB has chosen to allow to consumer to decide if the complaint is resolved or not.  By doing so,  the BBB is stating that until we completely satisfy the consumer, than the complaint is unresolved.  We wish the BBB would be more open minded to the fact that that consumer is not always right and not hold companies completely responsible for the times when they have an unrealistic complaint from an unreasonable customer.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 12/08/2023

This can remain closed and unresolved. No longer care to play debate on here.

    Business Response

    Date: 12/11/2023

we are happy to try to resolve this issue with a reasonable resolution.  However, the BBB determines if the complaint is unresolved based only on the consumer's version of events.  As we previously stated, not all conflicts can be resolved to a point where both sides are satisfied.  Because of this,  the BBB determined that this complaint is unresolved but the consumer wasn't happy.  We believe a mediation service like the BBB offers should take both sides into consideration.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 12/11/2023

You are out of touch with the companies operations.

Nah don't come back after 3 months of cold shoulder and try to make me sound like the irrational one.  Even right now I can see ungraded coins with fraudulently advertised grades in your auctions. Took the liberty of attaching one. I hope this leaves some type of stain on the companies name.

on 10/03/2022, I bid on and won a **** Shield Nickle graded MS-67 by PGA. The coin says It's "Precise Grading Authenticators". I brought the coin to a local coin store to show them what I got and he proceeded to tell me that the coin is actually encased in an NGC holder and not an MS-67. I then found out that this PGA service has been out of business for several years. Fraudulent sellers often inflate the grade of the coin they are selling so they can charge you many times the coins actual value. Others use false grading services or grading services with inconsistent standards. Some dealers will use slabs and certificates that are out of date and reflect lower, past standards. In this case, Gold Standard sold me a coin that was purposely placed in another company's slab. To me, this is fraud.I have called their phone number and was told to email description of problem. I emailed to *************************************** as directed on 5/12/23 with full description of coin including pictures and my contact information. Have not received a response.

I checked your site and my complaint status. According to the site, my complaint was satisfied. The company never called or sent me a message resolving the issue. The only thing they did was to send the message below to BBB. They did hire a PR firm that talked to me (*******************) around June 12, 2023. I sent ************** pictures of the coin and some details. I received an email from ************** on June 20,2023 saying the company wanted to settle, but I never received anything from them.

Please keep my complaint open until I can find out what is going on. Thank you.

********************* sent me an email yesterday asking if my complaint was resolved. The answer is no. The last email I received from Gold Standards Auctions (GSA) was on June 8, 2023 saying that they would get back to me within 2 business days. They did not. Then on June 12, 2023, GSA  responded on your site saying they are reviewing the complaint and have included a third party. ******************* was that third party and he contacted me on June 12, 2023. I did not hear back from him, so on June 20,2023, I sent him an email. Bottom line, **** said that GSA said they would settle with me, but they never contacted me.

So I would like you to keep my case open or please tell me what I have to do next to continue with my complaint. Thank you.

The only response was that it would need to be forwarded to management. This request is now over a week and there is still not credit on my card. It should not take this long to resolve this issue when they are clearly wrong by all industry standards. All 3 coins were graded by PGCS the leading coin grading organization. All came back as harshly cleaned or scratched and cannot be graded, which makes these coins impossible to sell at a future date. Cleaned coins worth between 10 and 25% of original value, harshly cleaned coins worth even less. This is a clear case of misrepresentation, All coins listed as uncirculated. After reviewing the images, not only were the descriptions wrong, but the coins did not match what was in the pictures. Pictures were clearly doctored. If they were uncirculated why would they need to be cleaned? Hmmm? It doesn't take much thought here to see that you need to do the right thing and issue a refund. ***Suggest nobody do business with this company***

    Business Response

On May 10th, **************** reached out to us, and we had a conversation regarding his concerns. When he messaged the following day, we informed him that management would need time to review his concerns, which might take approximately a week to provide a definitive response. We explained that the owner was currently out of the office at the time who is the one who makes those decisions. Today marks the seventh day, and as promised, we sent **************** an email this morning assuring him that he would receive a response by the end of the business day.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 05/18/2023

I am rejecting this response because:   The business did respond as promised, however they only offered 2 options. A store credit which would not work because why would someone want to bid on more cleaned coins that are worthless. Plus after reviewing their upcoming auctions, none of the coins they are selling are particularly of interest. The 2nd option was a 90% hammer refund, so that would equate to 75% of what was paid which is ridiculous. I might have accepted this if it were only a few hundred dollars, but we are talking thousands of dollars, and they get the coins back, so that would mean I would have paid 25% of the cost for nothing. What dream world are these people living in? This is like selling a new car, claiming it was new, and then when the customer receives it, it is all scratched and dented and the muffler is falling off, and all they did was repaint the car and claim it was new. Then they would try to keep 25% of your money for nothing. This is forgive the pun "highway robbery". Same thing with coins they claim were uncirculated when this was clearly not the case.  I have sent a follow up email to the company in regards to this response and have given them an additional week from today 5/18/23 to apply a full refund to the purchasing credit card. Should this not be resolved within this time frame, I will have to take further action with my credit card company and with the Attorney General of *****. As of this time 2:00PM Est. on 5/18/23 this issue has not been resolved.

GSA refuses to refund $3285 for 3 auctioned coins where they misrepresented grading and value. My coin dealer was interested until he saw the coins. He took pictures in black box to confirm his apprasial and sent them to his ** expert. He wanted it to be the $20,000 coin as he already had a buyer. ** confirmed his apprasial and the gold coin value was only $550. As for both *******, my dealer knew that the Morgans had been cleaned. He showed me the same grade ******* that have not been cleaned. They were worth around $40 each, not the $500 and $600 I paid. I emailed GSA and offered to either return the coins or keep them at the appraised value and take a partial refund. THEM: As mentioned previously, I reached out with management and the owner regarding your concerns. Per the owner, the owner is willing to take the coins back for reconsignment. If agreeable, please let us know so we can get a return label sent to you. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.ME: So, you just put it in writing that your company will misrepesent the same coins to another unsuspecting buyer? You also give no guarantee of return, but are going to take additional money from me to prepetuate this misrepresentation? And, you would have the coins in your posession. Your lack of integrity is frightening. THEM: No, we aren't saying that they are, have been, or will be misrepresented. We guarantee the authenticity of our coins. Grading, however, is subjective. This is because of the subjective nature of coin grading, opinions will vary depending on several subjective factors of personal preference such as the quality of the strike, luster, location and severity of contact marks and blemishes, color, toning and overall eye appeal. If the coins are, in fact, a different grading as you and your expert state, we will review that and ensure that the updated grading is on the listings once they go up for auction if you wish to go for that option. FRAUD! PERIOD!

I am rejecting this response because:   As a senior citizen I feel foolish for falling for this companies misrepresentation of the value of the coins.  I have bid and won other coin auctions with reputable Auction Companies on HiBid with great success. I foolishly trusted that all the Auction companies on HiBid were reputable.

My rejection to their response is purely for principle. I may never get my money back, but I wish to save other seniors from the same loss of money, if there is even anything the BBB can achieve.

I spoke to the owner *****************************, he told me to not seek legal counsel he would refund me when he returned from a business flight when he returned and contacted me, he said he was not refunding me that I had to buy coins from him at graded book value for the ****** I spent this is a scam! I want a class action lawsuit brought against this scamming company if they do not refund my money upon receiving the coins they were nowhere near the amount they advertised them "as is" and 1 coin was fake.
