I've used the Good Contractors list on several occasions. The most recent was when I used them for a broken garage door. I'd called another company that is well know and their price was approaching $2,000 for a repair. Plano Garage Door did it for less than 1/2 of that. They were punctual, friendly and fast. The other company was aggressive and told me that their price was "only good if I did the repair right then". I like Good Contractors List and I like Plano Garage Door. Well done.

I’ve loved using the contractors on The Good Contractors List! I’ve used them

Sister suggested I check The Good Contractor list because didnt like using ***** list.Needed all windows replaced and used **************** from The Good Contractor and they were fantastic! ******** was not pushy and crew were excellent. Will definitely use this list again and recommend to friends and family. Liked being able to see which contractors can do the job. You dont have to give your information before they show the company list and you select for estimates, like ***** list, then they start calling you! On three different occasions, I've used ************************** Company. I found this company through the Good Contractors list and am completely satisfied with the communication with GCL as well as ***** Overhead Door. I take comfort in their $10,000 guarantee, and frankly I'm happy that I've never had to ask for it. I used the good contractors list to find a roofing company to fix some leaks. They suggested I have my insurance adjuster look at my roof for hail damage and as it turned out I needed a new roof! I was very pleased with the results! I had a project manager assigned to my job he handled any questions and when I was interested in additional maintenance and repairs to my home he got estimates and handled all the scheduling for me. In the end I had a new roof, new ****** board fascia and soffits, house pressure washed and painted, new gutters w/ screens, exterior doors repainted and one interior room repainted including all of the trim. They did an excellent job! As an older woman it has been hard for me to find contractors that I trusted not to take advantage and as a result my house was in disrepair... I am so pleased... my house looks new again!Good Contractors LLC (aka The Good Contractors List)

I was initially a big fan of The Good Contractor's List (TGCL). I even went out of my way to refer them and some of their listed companies to families and to "********* ***** Talk" on ********* However, once I started trying out other companies on their list, I started noticing major issues. The contractors that are supposedly trustworthy are NOT. 1. I found a company on TGCL that does sprinkler repairs. This company was very rude and condescending because I didn't know sprinkler system jargon. 2. I found a handyman service. They just sent someone to my house and assumed that I would be doing business with them even though I made it very clear in writing that I only wanted an estimate first. 3. The biggest offense by far was when I used TGCL website to look for a solar company. TGCL gives me a roofing contractor who poses as a trustworthy solar installer. But he is NOT! He just subcontracts for another NON-BBB accredited solar company installer with poor reviews! So essentially, I will be dealing with any solar issues and concerns with the NON-BBB solar installer. I blame TGCL for this specific incident because they specifically advertise on their website that they have a TOP NOTCH screening process for ALL their contractors and only work with with BBB A+ contractors. However, this is clearly not the case as this roofing company posing as a solar installer found a way around this. When I brought this up to TGCL, they wanted me to help them fix this by sending them documents sent to me by the poser solar company. However, I am a customer and not an employee of TGCL. When I asked for a reasonable compensation for my inconvenience and most importantly to reestablish trust, TGCL just rubs their terms and conditions to my face. I write this review for all other homeowners to be aware that TGCL just gives people a false sense of security of thinking they are working with the best contractors when, in reality, TGCL's screening process is flawed.Good Contractors LLC (aka The Good Contractors List)

I apologize for any inconvenience. As far as I can tell, you didn't enter into any work with any of these companies. Our guarantee is for any actual work that didn't get done right. This is the first we have heard of any issues with a sprinkler company or a handyman company, so not sure what to do there. Maybe contact us and give us their names so we can speak to them? The complaint you submitted to us was on the roofing company that also did solar. Originally this roofing company was working as the solar contractor and used a solar installer that would fall under his company name. When you alerted us that he wasn't using his company's name on the contract, we immediately investigated and found that he changed the solar installation sub (that we had investigated) and was passing leads on to a different company that paid them a sales commission. We immediately removed their company from our list. That was definitely a shady way for them to do business and not what we had agreed upon. Fortunately you didn't conduct business with them and we avoided what could have possibly happened if the solar company (not on our list) didn't perform well. Thank you for letting us know, so we could take action. It is true that we can't guarantee that every contractor will be flawless in every way and we can't compensate people for feeling inconvenienced. We can only stand behind contracted work completed by someone in our organization and we count on feedback like yours to help us keep the good ones on and find anyone who passes our entry investigation that veers off course. It saddens me that you are no longer a big fan and hope you don't choose to go unprotected when hiring contractors because of the inconvenience you experienced. Thank you.Beejay L

So after your entry investigation, your company doesn't do follow up quality control and just hope that customers speak up about bad experiences AFTER the fact? And your $10,000 guarantee is a joke for anyone else who went with the previously mentioned poser solar company and could have easily spent $100,000 because they trusted your company's backing. Yes I will choose to go "unprotected" in my future projects without your $10,000 guarantee because at least that is better than the false sense of security that your company wrongfully advertises to others.Good Contractors LLC (aka The Good Contractors List)

Again, I apologize and understand your logic. There is no way to keep track of every job every contractor on our list does or who they subcontract. We can only hope that if there is a bad experience, someone would reach out to us...and they do. It has cost us money at times, but the very large majority of times the issue gets resolved. We are doing our best to help people with what we have. We are a small company that is taking on a huge responsibility and doing more than companies with tens of millions of dollars in assets. No other contractor resource attempts to truly help anyone or put their own revenue at risk. Those that use our list are "protected" to at least some degree and we have the customers that we have helped to prove it. I am sorry that you felt like we should pay you something for being inconvenienced. We don't guarantee that you will like our process or have a perfect experience every time, no company or process can offer that kind of guarantee. However, if you would have used one of our contractors and the job didn't go well, then we would have been able to do what sets us apart from going unprotected.
