    Consumers allege LawnStarter:

    Fails to complete jobs
    Does not honor service dates 
    Charges unauthorized fees for "long grass" (even when provider reschedules appointment causing a service delay and hence longer grass)
    Charges for services not started
    Does not resolve property damage complaints. 
    Continues charging for services even after consumers cancel services

    In September 2020, BBB submitted a written request to the company encouraging them to address their pattern of complaints. In June 2023, LawnStarter began addressing outstanding customer complaints however, as of July 2023, BBB conducted a follow-up investigation and concluded the pattern of complaints previously noted remains.

    As a result, BBB submitted an additional written request to the company seeking information including how they intend to address the pattern identified within consumer complaints and customer review data. As of August 25, 2023 LawnStarter has not responded to BBB requests.

      I signed up for service that was SUPPOSE to be a one time charge of $19 for a mow and edging deal and then 2 more mows at $55 (bi weekly) The dates talked about with sales was April 23 or 24. When the "provider" contacted me he said April 22. I told him no that was not correct He said he couldn't change the scheduled date with out getting a bad **** against him I told him it is not a matter of rescheduling, the office retold him the wrong date to begin with. After ALOT of phone calls to Customer ********************** and a few red flags , we got it for April 23 or 24 (which is what it was suppose to be) April 23 rained so we assumed he was not gonna show (never contacted us to say that but we assumed) I started asking him (and the sales office ) on the 23 what the time frame for the 24 would be.. NO ANSWER. so April 24 rolls around and again, after ALOT of messages being sent AND NO RESPONSE I was getting very frustrated so we canceled the service entirely. About 2 hours later ...when we were not home and couldn't stop him he showed up. we saw thru our doorbell camera . NOW they want to charge $106 when my initial cost was suppose to be $19 with 2 more mows at $55 we would have paid 55 since the 19 deal was based on 3 total mows BUT when i got the email stating it would be 106 I said no, i don't think so, They did the service AFTER we canceled and if the long grass fee was to be applied they were Suppose to text us that for approval first according to THEIR guide lines.Here is the email:Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 08:03:08 PM CDT, LawnStarter <********************************> wrote: LawnStarterHi ***,The LawnStarter pro who mowed your grass on Wednesday, April 24, filed a Long Grass Fee Report.What this means: You will be charged a Long Grass Fee of $52.00, so your total price for this mow is now $106.99.
