  • Advertising Review:

BBB promotes truth in advertising by contacting advertisers whose claims conflict with the BBB Code of Advertising.  These claims come to our attention from our internal review of advertising, consumer complaints, and competitor challenges.  BBB asks advertisers to prove their claims, change ads to make offers clearer to consumers, and remove misleading or deceptive statements.

In November 2025 BBB contacted SelfPublishing.com regarding advertised claims on their website https://selfpublishing.com/  and social media.

SelfPublishing.com advertises a “Bestseller Guarantee,” “We’re the #1 resource for writing, self-publishing,” claimed results such as; ”Become a Bestseller/I sold 10,000 copies of my book in the first couple of months/My book has brought in royalties, it’s caused me to get speaking engagements/increased Sales/Start booking more speaking engagements/more revenue/hundreds of business owners to boost their income with a bestselling book/ we made $50,000”…and associated claims,” and advertising that includes Testimonials and Endorsements.

BBB Code of Advertising states claims relating to Warranties or Guarantees, Number one claims, efficacy, or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data. BBB requires substantiation that consumer endorser's experience should reflect what users generally achieve, unless there is a clear and conspicuous disclosure of what the expected results will be.

BBB requested SelfPublishing.com provide any evidence including but not limited to studies from recent and competent testing or other objective data substantiating their services and claims of their specific products or discontinuing any statements claiming results.

As of January 2026, SelfPublishing.com failed to respond to BBB's request to substantiate or discontinue the advertised claims.
