we were charged a 100 dollar reconnect fee in january 2023 along with my regular water bill. this is a charge levied to customers that are delinquet on their monthly payment.. i dont dispute the late fee.however i do dispute paying 100 dollars for a reconnection fee when it was never disconnected. the fee was paid but never did they disconnect or reconnect my service, so we paid for a service that didnt exist. i find this unacceptable and a way of milking hard earned money from people that are having a difficult time financially.. its as if were being punished and penalized for being poor..( ok you dont have the money you owe us ,well just add another 100 to it) i feel like im dealing with loansharks that just make up stuff as they go. weve always made our payments and were not challenging or complaining for our bill of service .however charging for services that were not done is fraudalant and unacceptable. were asking foir a credit of the 100 dollars rendered to the utrility district. i am a secondary name on the account at 520 beidleman creek rd.. and im speaking for the primary account holder as well.thank you for your time and consideration in resolving this matter.

We here at South Fork have policies in place in order to receive payments in a timely fashion every month. Due date for monthly bills as well as the disconnect date are printed on every bill that leaves our office. Our cutoff date is on the 5th or the following Tuesday if the weekend falls on the 5th. Our payment policy is structured for fairness of all customers on our water system. If you live close to the shop and do not pay your bill you will be cut off first, if you live on the other side of the system, it could take us hours to reach your home in order to turn off your water. It would not be fair to those who live close if we did not charge everyone the same charge on cutoff day. Utility Bills are mailed out depending on the weekends between the 6th and the 10th and these bills are due on the 23rd. However, we allow customers to the 5th of the following month to pay their bills before their service is disconnected due to non-payment. While the water not being cut off may be a mistake on our part at 7 am on the disconnect day all customers who have not made the necessary payments are placed on the disconnect list and are required to pay the 100 dollar past due fee regardless of whether or not their water service was actually cut off.  We want to be fair to all of our customers no matter where they live on our system, and this is the only way to make things uniform across our service area.
