DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! We became owners late Nivember 2024 in ******* ********.. We were lied to about how many points are needed to make an exchange. Lied to about the property where we owned 3 deeds. They told us it was in disrepair and likely would be closed so we would have no units to deposit with II and make exchanges with. Told us we would be locking in our maintenance fees which was a lie. They went up in January. We went to the so called " owners workshop" which was actually not at all a workshop but rather a sales meeting trying to upsell us. These people are relentless in that they wear you down, promise things that are simply not true, take your money and never look back. You are held hostage for HOURS not 90 minutes. We have had problem after problem since we became owners. Charged 3 times for points protection on an exchange we made. Still waiting for a check that was supposed to be processed within ***** business days. That date started was June 9th. Still waiting. I have spent hours on the phone, sending emails and talking to people in ****** to correct all the things they do wrong. Upper management people seem nice at first but then they never get back to you. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! We are truly unhappy after 29 years of owning our 3 deeds. Again we were lied to about the state of the property we owned at. I am going to do my best to discourage EVERYONE from talking to Capital Vacations Club people and doing business with them. They get your money and move on to the next victim. No follow through from upper management. They will likely answer this complaint stating they tried to reach me...untrue or that they value great customer service and are" deeply saddened" to hear of our dis satisfaction. I ****** on sending a written formal complaint letter to ***** ******...the owner of the company. I doubt he will follow through either. Unhappy all the way around after 29 years of lovely vacations.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: We were LIED to in our initial sales meeting about the status of our deeds as well as how we would be able to use Capitals point system. The fact of the matter is that we were 100% satisfied with what we had owned fir 29 years. We were told our deeds were worthless and we would have no deposits made into interval Internationals system which we could trade with. Our maintenance fee's were HALF what they are now and we could vacation TWICE as many weeks wirh the points we had versus the points we now have. We will NEVER recommend Capital to anyone and if asked while vacationing whether or not we like our ownership we will answer with a firm hard NO. Capital has been given over $45,000.00 and I am guessing they want more $$ for us to be able to exit our ownership with them while they now have our deeds as well. Their presentations wear you down to the point you just give in to escape being held prisoner as we were the first time (8 hours) and over 6 hours the second time. We do not wish to EVER meet with them again for their so called "owners updates". We feel like we ate stuck and we're taken advantage of.
Sincerely,
***** *******Business Response

I purchased a $300 vacation package from Capital Vacations, but due to changes in my personal circumstances, I likely will not be able to use it. Since May 2024, I have received 1015 phone calls and more than 6 text messages pressuring me to schedule or redeem the package.Despite multiple documented requests to stop contacting meincluding replying "STOP" via text several times and directly asking representatives not to callI continue to receive unwanted messages and calls. At this point, the repeated outreach feels more like harassment than customer service.I am willing to forfeit the package entirely if that is what it takes to be removed from their contact system. I am simply asking Capital Vacations to respect my request and permanently stop contacting me.Business Response

I am writing to request a full refund of $499 + $50 deposit due to Capital Vacations failure to notify me of a schedule change for a presentation originally set for Monday, June 30 at 1:30 PM.I drove over 3.5 hours from *********, ** (a 7-hour round-trip) specifically to attend this meeting. The text message I received on the morning of the appointment still confirmed the original 1:30 PM time, and I was never given any notice of a schedule change. I arrived on time and prepared, only to be told the appointment had been moved to 2:00 PM, something I could not accommodate for the full presentation time without missing another appointment I had structured my day around. This is not a matter of refusal or cancellation on my part ; I upheld my end of the agreement. The breakdown came from Capital Vacations failure to communicate, which led to:Complete loss of access to the services and gifts I paid for Waste of 7 hours of travel time and gas Disruption to my carefully planned schedule Additionally, I want to highlight that the terms and conditions tied to this package were not presented to me prior to payment or confirmation. The transaction and confirmation were conducted entirely over the phone, and the terms were only provided afterward. This denied me the opportunity for informed consent. Any effort to deny a refund based on post-sale terms, that I was not given the chance to review before purchase, is both unfair and, potentially, a deceptive practice.I am requesting a full refund of $499 +$50 deposit. I do not wish to rebook unless you are willing to offer additional compensation for the time and cost, Ive already incurred due to your internal error.I would prefer to resolve this matter directly and professionally. Please let me know how you intend to proceed.I have retained all related communication and confirmations, including the text message confirming the original time and phone calls.Business Response

My problem with Capital Vacations is regarding the mismanagement of my timeshare with Causeway on Gull, which they now have taken over managing. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare and I am so frustrated. Over the last few years, Ive repeatedly tried to cancel my timeshare contract due to legitimate reasons, including health concerns and the property's inaccessibility. My communications have been mostly ignored, and when responses do occur they are dismissive at best.Capital Vacations recently took over management responsibilities, and I had hoped this would finally lead to a resolution. But despite reaching out via multiple emails to both Causeway on Gull and Capital Vacations, I got zero acknowledgement from Capital and silence from Causeway on Gull, except for a single dismissive response from a ************** member named ***** *********. The constant lack of communication or care for my situation is unacceptable. I have been a loyal customer for decades and deserve to be treated with respect and decency. The miscommunication and neglect are causing unreasonable and unnecessary stress and financial burden. Ive spent over $17,000 on this timeshare expecting quality and service that I have not received. Capital Vacations accreditation by the BBB would hopefully suggest a standard of professionalism and accountability that frankly has not been reflected in my experience! I need immediate action to address my concerns because I have exhausted all other avenues and am left with no choice but to report this here and hope for assistance. I just want a fair path to return my timeshare ownership, allowing me to move forward without further stress or trouble.Business Response

Capital Vacations stands by its earlier response to the ***** family. To clarify, the ***** family holds a vacation ownership interest at ******** on Gull and are not owners with Capital Vacations. I purchased a 3 night 4 day vacation from Capital Vacations for ****************** in ******* with access to a water park called ***********. I made the reservation for 6/27 I was told I to pay ***** to attend a time share presentation but would receive it back after attending. and I had to pay the taxes for the accommodation. I was told I would receive a call what time my tour would be. Never happened I had to contact them. When I arrived I was charged additional ****** . When I tried to call Capital Vacations they would not refund my money and left me on hold for over 30 minutes. After driving 4 hours I ended up staying at a place called Calypso Cay resort which was filthy and had roaches. I called early in the AM and was told there was nothing he could do I had to wait until the manager came in at 11:00. I walked over to a Spring Hill suites and asked if they knew about Capital vacations and they said no They used this hotel to get you to buy there scam. Then after going to the sister hotel at *********** they transferred me there. Promised a free vacation for me and my cousin. They were refunding my money to which did not happen I payed 150 for the new reservation. Sat through the presentation for 2 hours. Was given a certificate for this not so free vacation at over 450 in fees for a 2-3 star rating resorts. This is fraud and violates trade names. Bait and switch and sales tactics that extremely abusive when I would not buy the sales *** called me bipolar and walked away.Business Response

Id like to file a complaint regarding Capital Vacations, based in ************. Over the past several months, my experience with their customer service and timeshare services has been frustrating and disappointing. Numerous attempts to address these issues have been ignored or mishandled, and Im now seeking assistance to have my concerns properly addressed.Since November, Ive repeatedly tried contacting Capital Vacations to explore options for exiting my timeshare agreement. After emailing their representative, ******* *******, as requested, I never received a follow-up. When I eventually connected with another representative, *****, he stated I would need to pay $1,700 just to bring the account up to date. I explained this expense wasnt feasible for me, yet ***** was dismissive, stating foreclosure would follow if I didnt pay. He ended the call abruptly without offering any alternatives or advice.I also explored their Graceful Exit Program, but I found that participating would require me to pay off my loan and all associated fees in full. This cost is out of reach for me and makes the program anything but graceful. While customer service insists nothing further can be done, I feel that my concerns are being brushed aside.Beyond the financial struggles, Im dissatisfied with the overall timeshare experience. I was promised flexible vacation options, but I rarely find availability at preferred times or locations. When I do manage to book, the accommodations are often lower in quality than advertised. On top of that, every stay requires me to attend lengthy, high-pressure sales meetings that push unnecessary upgrades. I was also led to believe that unused weeks could be traded or sold, but this hasnt been the case.I believe these deceptive sales practices, unhelpful support, and lack of realistic solutions need to be addressed. . I hope the BBB can assist in holding them accountable for these issues. Thank you for your time.Business Response

I purchased a vacation package from Capitol Vacations by Discover based on a sales presentation that was entirely misleading. I was told I would receive ******* vacation points usable at any of their 90 resort locations, and that I would only need to complete another tour if I chose one of a few select properties. This was completely untrue. When I attempted to book my trip, I was informed the destination I chose was not included in the packagedespite being specifically mentioned during the sales pitch. I contacted Capitol Vacations immediately. They admitted they had recordings of the call and acknowledged what I was told, yet still refused to issue a refund due to being outside their rescission period.I was unable to rescind the contract in time because I was told it would take days to receive the package materials and 2 weeks before I could use itmeaning I had no way of knowing I was misled until it was too late.Additionally, I have since found numerous similar complaints on BBB from other consumers who were also misled by sales **** and denied refunds. This indicates a consistent pattern of deceptive marketing practices. Their salespeople, who act as licensed real estate professionals, are obligated to provide honest and accurate information under the law.I am requesting a full refund and that Capitol Vacations be held accountable for false advertising, breach of verbal agreement, and manipulative sales tactics that deny consumers a fair opportunity to rescind once the truth is uncovered. Desired Outcome:A full refund of the amount charged and removal from any ongoing obligations with Capitol Vacations.Business Response

Capital vacations sent the invoice for the Hollytree maintenance fees to an address that I have not lived at for two years. Instead of trying to reach me by email or phone (both contacts they have on file), they chose to simply send the account to collections. Now they refuse to deal with me at all, even though I have repeatedly offered to pay the *** fees in full excluding any additional charges, since they made zero effort to contact me. I have asked them repeatedly to allow me to pay the *** fee, and they simply state it is out of their hands at this point. I have also tried to work with ********, the debt collector they hired, to get this paid, and they refuse to work with me as well. I am doing my best to get this resolved with zero effort on the part of Vacations, or Meridian ************* ******** has gone so far as to add derogatory remarks to my credit report, which will ultimately impact my credit score of over 800. this exceptional credit score clearly shows that I pay my bills on time every time. I am rejecting this response because this company did not reached me at all. Whatever correspondence they claim they were sending was going to an outdated address that was almost 2 years old. Instead of trying to find me or reach me via email or telephone, both of which they have on file, they simply sold this timeshare fee owed to a collections company with no further efforts to ensure I knew the debt existed. They did absolutely nothing to help. When I finally learned of the debt, I immediately reached out to them and offered to pay my bill. At that point, they said they could no longer work with me.
I then asked them to approve the correct amount of the timeshare fee with the collection agency and they told me that they could not help me at all in this manner. They simply pushed me off to this collection company.
The fact that they pushed this debt to a collection company without ever sending me proper notification might possibly be against the law and I have an advocate currently researching that. The bottom line is, all I ever wanted to do and made very good faith doing it is to pay the timeshare maintenance fee that I owed. They had zero interest in that.
