When COVID hit this gym shut down for 3 months. When it reopened I called and was told by an employee over the phone that they would cancel my account. I questioned the employee if there was anything else that needed to be done to cancel and was told NO. I have now found out that they continued to autocharge my account until 2/3/21. The autocharged stopped then because I cancelled the credit card they had on file. Today, 12/17/21 I received a text that said they will send me to collections if I do not pay my balance. As far as I knew I did not have a balance. I called the number in the text (************) and was told that they will continue to charge me every month until I pay the outstanding balance of over $350.00 and they will not allow me to cancel over the phone. I have to either go there and cancel or send a certified letter. I asked them to give me a fax number and I would send a signed letter but they refused. I have not stepped foot in their gyms since 2019 and they continued to charge me until my credit card changed. They will not let me cancel and then tried to tell me if I pay them $99.00 over the phone today they will cancel my account and take my balance to zero. This is extortion! Is that even legal? I refused to pay them anything today and instead opened this claim. I truly hope you can help.
