In July hired this contractor to put in 11 new energy efficient windows and 3 doors (2 storm and one regular). We were told this would be done in first or second week of October. We did not hear a word from them during the entire month until we finally received a call October 29th and were told November 1 & 2. (1)
The first day they came first thing they put a sign in our yard (advertising for the company) without asking for being given consent to do so. (2)
They installed 9 windows the first day and left at about 2:15. Not sure why the other two were not completed on day one.
Second day guy showed up by himself. I asked why some of the windows had major condensation and were fogging up. Showed him the ones concerned about. Response was I don't know I installed same as others. He must have called Mitch as a little while later up drives Mitch. Guy started doing doors. Two of which are wrong. Front storm door has little buttons which could be a choking hazard if swallowed by a child or a pet and asked Mitch about and his response was I assumed that was what you wanted. No we wanted exactly what we had only new. Second wrong door was supposed to be 3/4 glass on back storm door and we got 1/2 glass same as regular door which was to be 1/2 glass. Mitch laughed at me while I was expressing concerns and told me it was humidity levels and to go get two dehumidifiers 1 for downstairs and 1 for upstairs –very condescending so much so that he had me so upset I raised my voice and he could have cared less he wanted his check and didn't care whether the job was done satisfactorily or if the correct doors were installed just give me a check now. He told us to hold some back until the job was complete but wanted the majority of the money then and there. So we install energy efficient windows and are told to go spend extra hundreds on equipment not to mention monthly electric bills. Mitch also told us they could not do the 2 remaining windows that day as it required two people but it would be done within a week. This was on 11/2 it is now 12/20 and we have never heard from the company. (3) They have the windows as they were on the porch but when guy packed up they were put back in truck.
Mitch was so worried about bragging over using a relatives military ID to get a discount on a wide blade mower for his son's grass cutting business, telling us about the dealer offering him 5,000 more than he paid to buy his wife's used car back and telling us about his culinary skills making a chicken broccoli and cheese dish in bulk after buying ingredients from warehouse club so everyone can eat when they want that he totally ignored listening to what we wanted and assumed what he gave us was enough. Who does this? What happened Ethics, honesty, integrity and quality, not to mention job completion?

      Business response

      01/11/2022

As the customer states, her job was contracted in July. As most are aware, there are extended lead times on many materials due to the global pandemic. While we hope to get our doors and windows withini 8-10 weeks, in many cases it is taking longer to receive them. We schedule our installs as soon as we know the material is available.
It is standard protocol to put a job yard sign in the ground when we begin an installation, We have never had a customer question that before but would absolutely remove it if we were asked to do so.
The stor doors are manufactured by Provia. They are a large window and door manufacturer that has been in business more than 40 years. All of their materials are safety compliant. There are no choking hazards on any door. The doors were ordered as selected and written in the contract.

The day after the first 9 windows were installed the customer noticed condensation on a couple of the windows. Windows do not cause condensation on the interior of the home. Humidity/moisture inside the home cause this. Please see this link for additional information on what causes condensation on the interior of a window:
      https://www.thennalwindows.com/condensation.php

Our salesman explained this to the customer. Reducing the humidity in a room and additional air flow will resolve that particular issue.
We have 2 windows remaining to install. We need a particular installer/crew to do those and have been dealing with ***** ***************** issues the last couple of months, The customer still owes $3575 on the job, considerably more than the cost of the 2 windows remaining. We have every incentive to get this job done to close out the contract. We will be contacting her soon to get those scheduled.

      Regards,

      Sheila S**** *ffice Manager,

      Richard Felser Company
