Extortion. Plain and simple. I had to pay $2K in storage fees after they had my car and failed to fix it. I also had to pay for a tow truck to come get it and take it to another facility because it was torn apart and not repaired.Initial Complaint

Leifs had my vehicle to fix a collision and they were to replace the wheel that was damaged. They replaced it with the wrong wheel i provided them with the part number for the correct wheel and asked for it to be resolved and they said they would take care of it. But after 7 emails asking for updates they have not replied to a single one.Business Response

****'s Autobody has had my vehicle under repair for over 120 days now. They are a scam shop. All they do is bilk insurers of their money by tearing down a vehicle after the initial inspection and keep finding things "wrong" with the vehicle so that they can charge the insurance company. ****'s has been deceptive from the onset of my repairs, advertising that they can get the job done quickly and to pre loss condition. They also will not allow my insurance adjuster on site to inspect the progress for fear of being found out. ****'s has threatened to call the police and trespass any insurance adjuster that comes into it's property according to my insurance agent. This indefensible behavior by ****'s has caused me grievous financial harm because I must rent a car well past my reasonable allowance by my insurer. Right now I am several thousand dollars into a simple rental because of the ineptitude of ****'s staff and internal corruption.Business Response

We would appreciate that the BBB starts vetting false complaints before posting reviews that are clearly authored by Allstate. Allstate came out in early January and approved repairs. Waited several weeks for parts. During alignment,suspension damage was found. Again, waited two months for parts. For 33 years Portland's legacy bodyshop, ****'s auto collision centers, has served hundreds of thousands of ****** and ********** residents. Representing consumers to insure Allstate along with other insurance companies don't rip off claimants. ****'s has perfected the practice of leading its customers to believe that *********************** will take less time than originally stated. This deception has caused me and my family financial harm because we have now had to rent a car for the reasonably allotted 30 days on my insurance policy. There was never any communication to me about waiting for parts for months. The only representative that I have had contact with is *************************. His boss ****, has coached him well in how to deceive the customer. Every time I asked when the *********************** would be completed, the reply from *** was always "two weeks"... It is no surprise that ****'s gets a "F" on BBB website. It is a failing business that deserves to be shut down due to fraudulent claims. II intend to also take this matter up with the State of Oregon and Multnomah county and report this fraud.I would like a sincere apology from **** directly as well as my $30/ Day I am spending on a rental car for the last 90 days.

I received an estimate of $4,200 from a body shop. I took my car to ****'s and they quoted $23,000 for the same repairs. This increase totaled out my <1 year old $50k car. Once they tear your car apart, no one will touch it. Apparently, I upset them demanding to know how much my car would cost to fix. They told me they don't provide quotes to customers. When I insisted, they came up with an inflated bill knowing it'd total my car out.Another shop looked at their repair bill and said it was bullsh*t. I thought everyone complained because they do tear down estimates, locking you into using them, but no, they are just unethical in every interaction you possibly have. GMC Canyon towed to ****'s on 1/9/2024. Workfile ID#******** USAA claim# *********************. Initial **********/11/24 $446.00 for repair. Estimate adjustment 1/29/24 $10218.43 minus the deductible of $500 = $9718.43 total cost of repair, incl labor and parts/disposal of waste/tow. Primary concern: Overcharging repair labor and parts and VERY poor communication from Leifs, inhibiting insurance coverage of car rental. On 2/22/24, personally went to **** to set eyes on the truck. ****** (supervisor?) could not locate it. Contact with *** on 2/23/24 *** at ****'s: "Car is almost finished. We are waiting for the check from USAA and I have told them to overnight it many times." Car reportedly not completed until 2/28/24. Picked up on 2/28/2024 @ 1230pm from ****. Truck mileage increased by 13 miles, battery required a jump to leave the lot, ************ of truck door has chipped paint, repairs appeared glued and not the replaced items listed on the estimate. Significant increase in estimate for a taillight broken after a fender ******. Very difficult during the entire process to reach ****'s & obtain update on progress. ****'s made several comments which include the denial of my truck in service at ****'s "truck is at this location" "truck isn't in our possession" "your insurance needs to pay us" "we don't have a way for you to leave messages, so you have not messages with us" "We don't contact Enterprise or USAA". When notified of pick up ready on 2/28/24, *** threatened storage fees if not picked up before 4pm. Upon arrival to get my truck, *** had a jump start kit in hand when he parked it. The truck required a jump to leave the ********* became verbally aggressive and yelling after he was asked why the truck battery was dead. "You aren't going to accuse me of stealing your battery" "This happens when your car sits & waits for weeks after complete." This directly incongruent w/ previous reports "not finished yet" on 2/23/2024. Need a 3rd party evaluation of repair.Business Response

Because it was stolen they did a drug screen on the vehicle and told me it will be totaled. My insurance doesnt want to total it. I was told I cant have my car because I owe Leifs $2000 something dollars IN CASH! That was what *********************** told me on the phone when I asked to release my vehicle. I dont have that kind of money so the only option was to get the car biohazard cleaned by a company I had to find on my own, and pay over $4400 out of pocket for! My retired parents had to step in and help because I had no option. When I told Leifs I found a company to clean the car so they could then repair it, they told me they will not let my vehicle be towed to this cleaning facility until they get over $5700! They havent even done a single thing, its insane that they would expect anything! Now they will no longer respond to my insurance representative emails or calls, they will not respond to calls or emails from *** at ************** Northwest and certainly will not respond to me. Because of Leifs dishonesty and criminal behavior I do not have a car to get to work to earn money to pay my car note! I am out of options!Initial Complaint

My car was taken to Leifs to be fixed. My car, a 2022 ****** Outback Wilderness Edition, was there from around 7 October 2023, and I received it around the middle of November 2023. I noticed two parts were missing. One is my hood decal that comes with that specific edition of the car. It comes from the factory with that. The other piece is a side protection strip removed to repair the door. Leifs was paid by my insurance for the door strip and missed the hood decal due to failing to complete research on the car. I dropped my vehicle off on 1/26/24 and was told that someone from ****'s would be contacting me with information regarding my vehicle repairs, the estimate from the insurance company, and a timeline for my vehicle repairs. The only time that I get information about my vehicle is when I contact them. I am getting different answers about the stage of repair that vehicle is in and being told that they don't know when it will be done. They are refusing to communicate information other than "I don't know" and " There's no ETA for completion". I know they can give an estimated timeframe. At this point I am facing having to pay for a rental car out of pocket, which the insurance company is responsible for paying, because they refuse to give a timeline. If ****'s can't give me a timeline and I have to pay for the rental and I can't reimbursed by the insurance company, ****'s should have to reimburse me. ****'s commercials claim that they are on the side of their customers and my current experience tells me that they are falsely advertising that. The "customer service" rep that I am dealing with can't even answer simple questions and her manager is a drunk who reeks so heavily of alcohol that you can smell it from 4 feet away. Regarding your accusation against a manager, after exhaustive interviews of all our employees who are in contact with customers, not one has seen you stop by our shop to meet with any manager nor do we have a record of you stopping by. Please provide a date, time and name of who you are accusing of drinking so we can pull up camera footage and get to the bottom of this accusation. We take these accusations very seriously and have a zero tolerance policy for alcohol and/or illegal substances. Regarding your loss of use, USAA cannot deny you rental coverage without providing proof of their denial. I am rejecting this response because:Not a single person has said anything about my vehicle needing backordered parts. Every time I ask about my vehicle, I'm told that it's in paint. And I have stopped by twice, 2/5 and 2/9. And I did request to speak to someone other than my rep because she isn't helpful. They sent out ***, her manager, who reeked of booze.
When a customer is asleep ng for information that you are required to provide per your own paperwork, they should be given that information. They should not be met with aggression and a flippant attitude. I don't need help with reporting USAA. I needed ****'s assistance with making sure my rental got extended. I didn't need answers to my questions being one of two things, "Nothing is being denied, what's your problem?" and "Your car is in paint. I can't give you any ETA for completion."

Second, the BBB will not remove false, inflammatory,personal, or even fraudulent complaints. Certain insurers use this knowledge to steer consumers to post complaints with the BBB to trash autobody shops across the nation who refuse to keep quiet about the use of imitation parts and underpaying claims.
Now, we want to always resolve any and all customer concerns to their satisfaction. We have interviewed both individuals you accuse and neither one has met or seen you at our facility. I know exactly what the people that I spoke with look like. And please don't blame the insurance company for the lack of service that I have received from ****'s employees. The only person that I have interacted with in a positive way is **** and was told that he was incorrect in any information or paperwork he provided since "he's new".
The insurance company has nothing to do with my complaint to BBB. The lack of answers and proper customer service are what prompted the complaint.

I brought in my 2019 ****** tocoma in for minor dent to the tail right side of the bed in early december of 2023 after having my insurance National had an agent come out and analyze the damage and take photos in which he gave me a claim number and email with findings to which ever auto motive body shop of my choosing. I am not that bright apparently because I went with Leifs due to their snazzy radio commercial that is prevalent in the ******** area. They state they are fast and efficient is one of the key reasons for me choosing Liefs. My only vehicle is still in the shop at Leifs in which they fail to call me back with updates and it feels like they have actually kidnapped my truck this point. After the tragic incident my husband's car had been towed to the Leif collision center in May 2023. And the nightmare began. Their main task was to pull as much money from my insurance company as possible. They constantly blamed me for choosing the wrong insurance. They kept finding more and more new damages and demanded more money. Finally, they got $25,000 from the insurance company and $2000 from my pocket which is more than this car cost. After picking up my car in January **** I found next day the the new paint started to peel. Now they blame ****** manufacturer for their job. The customer service was patronizing , condecending, arrogant, and utterly direspectful. Now, i am waiting for their "research" and decision what to do next. My car is at my garage now with the peeled paint in the middle of **************. They should be out of business. ******************, we take all complaints seriously and have fully investigated the matter.
The delays were a combination of spending months at the dealership for suspension parts and approvals, American Family employees being on sick leave or quitting, parts delays and ******** Familys continued inability to understand how to assess the damage reports we sent them.1 The insurance company decides what to fix and what to total.
2 American Family as well as other insurers decide on the value of your claim based on the policy limits. We have no control over their adjusters or what they want to cover.
3 We did not work on the door with the tiny paint flake off. It is a paint failure. As you know, your vehicle has been repaired several times prior. The paint issue you have is most likely due to a prior paint issue. When you met with us last week, we informed you we would look into this to verify if we painted the door in question. We did not.
4 The bodyshop industrys method and cost of repairs are governed by the standard databases that all shops and insurers share. Shops cannot charge more then the data bases recommendations for repair times or parts. We repair all the damage found during inspections that are a part of the collision claim. American Family sets the cost on the shared data base.
5 You informed us you when dropping your vehicle that you wanted a pre-loss repair.

This car never was repaired previously. We bought it from the *********************** dealership in 2019 with very low mileage. This Prius was made in 2017. VLN number does not show that this car was ever repaired. I do not trust them. They got more than $25000, and now to say the door was not repainted. The inventory list that I got from them shows hey charged ******** for paint. What did they do with it? This business is full of arrogant crooks. Read the reviews. I do not accept their response.
