I received an email on 6/16 about a 90% reduction for my loan I had already paid over $4900 for a $2000 dollar loan and still owed over $1800 so just to be done I made a payment of $182.29 which was 10% of the amount they said I owed. In the email it stated once payment was made there would be no further obligation. Today 6/24 I received another email with another settlement offer The previous email said I would not have anymore obligations after payment so this account should be closed. I should not be getting more emails. It said right in the email with a link that you could make the payment through the customer portal which is what i did. I have attached a copy of the email from 6/16/25 and 6/24/25 as well of a screen shot showing the payment on their website on 6/16/25 I wish for them to honor the email they sent on 6/16/25 I made the payment and should not have any further obligation per their email.Business Response

This company WebLoan - continues to call my mother and my sister and claims that they have reached out to me MULTIPLE times. Never have a received a call from them, I called twice and left my number and they called my mother and sister AGAIN. They are claiming I look a payday loan, while I lived in the current county that I am in. I have never taken a payday loan from ANY company. They cannot provide any details except the county I lived in when I took this loan out in 2020 - in which I wasn't even living in the state this county is in - They will not stop calling my mother and my sister and harassing them that I will not speak with them. I called and Mr. ********, screamed at me to not interrupt him, then screamed "Get an Attorney!!, Get an Attorney!!" and then hung up on me.Business Response

I received two voicemails from an unknown number, that my phone automatically blocked; I called the number back and it was answered as "Central Dispatch" and then I was transferred to an "Attorney Network" employee ************ Basically she was stating that I got a loan for $900 that was deposited into a Sunflower Bank checking account and that it was through American Web Loan with a supposed docusign on file, and that I'm being taken to court for that amount plus interest for over $3000. When I asked when this loan was taken out, she hung up on me. I would like to say that they had my name, SSN, DOB, former place of employment, phone number, a "fake" account number (verified when I called Sunflower) and an old address (the 1st call) and my current address (2nd call). They also had my mother's name (who lives in a different state than I). These phone calls occurred within 20 minutes of each other and went straight to my voicemail.Business Response

I have received 3 calls from American Web Loan stating that I took out a loan in November 2024 and had it deposited into an account at ***** ***** ****. I've never had any business dealings with American Web Loan. I haven't taken any loans out in the last 12 months. I do not and have never had an account with ***** ***** ****. They have my address and are unable to validate any of my other personal information...they want me to give them my personal information. They would not mail me any information on said loan when I requested it. They said I could access my loan information by signing into my online account - I explained to them that I don't have an online account. They directed me to a government website and said I could download an affidavit and email it back to them. I'm not comfortable emailing any of my personal information to this company. This smells like a scam and information phishing scheme. I asked her to mail me something in the USPS mail and I would be happy to follow through with whatever information they needed. She said, she couldn't do that and as long as I didn't give them the information they needed to open up a case for their fraud department to look into, that the phone calls would continue and the debt would remain open.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: I submitted a notarized affidavit to American Web Loan. They rejected it and wanted it on a specific form. I've since complied and completed their specific form and they still are not closing this case. They have yet to provide me with any written documentation on the supposed loan. I still feel that this is a scam, but am trying to do my part without divulging more of my personal information to them.

American Web Loan has tried everything they can to obfuscate their predatory interest rates as well as the amount I owe to them. After taking out a $1,000 loan from AWL and making bi-monthly payments of 206.45 since October 31, 2024 (totaling $1,238.70), I was told I still owe them over $1,100. I have attempted to log into their customer portal multiple times including password resets, username lookups, and even calling their customer service (which informed me of my balance). I still have no access to the online portal in order to verify the balance or access my loan documentation and after further research, I find out just how predatory AWL really is. Their exorbitant interest rates FAR exceed the legal limits of most, if not all states. Additionally, I've come to find they are not even licensed to lend in my state. After having paid $200 over the initial amount lent to me, I want the remainder of this debt erased.Business Response

I was initially contacted via phone in early December by someone claiming to work for American Web Loan. They claimed I had taken out a loan with them and were wanting me to verify some information over the phone. They had the last four of my social, an old email address, an an old address of mine as well. After stating that I had not taken out such loan they advised me to place a fraud claim with them and to file a report with the FTC which I did. I also gave them my recent email which I feel was a mistake since it just all seems like a scam. Then someone from their fraud team reaches out initially stating I need to pay back the funds taken from loan. I responded only once via email stating for the last time that i did not take out that loan, my credit was never ran, and i have no new lines of credit. After also stating that they should be able to see what account that money was deposited into and who owns that account, they sent me two links with that supposedly one has the account number the funds were deposited into (which screams scam since you are not supposed to be able to just share account numbers via email with anyone). I want this resolved as soon as possible and if it is legitimate, I should not have to do the job of someone on the fraud team.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: AWL saying they take identity theft and fraud seriously and have initiated THEIR process is not enough. THEY need to take the necessary steps to protect consumers. It is THEIR responsibility to provide unequivocal proof of whom this loan belongs to. Reputable lenders work with the institution in which the funds were deposited as both are dealing with a criminal. Sending me emails with attachments and asking to verify the contents is suspicious. Again, it is not my job to prove who AWL loaned the funds to, I know it is not me and have informed them of that. Perhaps AWL needs to restructure the online lending practices to prevent circumstances such as mine and invest in more secure practices. Lastly, AWL is not listed on my credit report nor ANY funds from AWL were deposited into my account.
Sincerely,
******* *****************Business Response
