In May of 2022, BBB investigated The Vinyl Guy's business practices. This investigation was prompted by complaints and scam tracker reports. Concerning the business agreeing to do work for consumers, taking money, and never doing the work. Here are some of the complaints received:
- "Business picked up my cargo trailer on 12/05/2021 and committed to install a vehicle wrap on it within two weeks. Two months and many excuses later, we still did not get the trailer back. The current situation is that the business didn't pay it's rent, cannot get access to finish the job and the landlord won't release the trailer until the rent is paid. We got to the point where we only want to get our trailer back and do not want the business to complete the job. 50% of the job is already paid."
" I made arrangements with Eric Gordon to have some body work done and a vinyl wrap put on my truck. I provided him with a deposit. I was told that once he had the vehicle that it would take him 2 weeks to complete the work. I dropped the vehicle off on December 21, 2021 and was told he would get it moved into the shop to get started on the work December 23, 2021. He did not get the vehicle moved in to the shop until January 4, 2022. I tried to go to the shop several times to check on the progress of the job. I discovered that he had not done any work on the truck at all nor did he have any of the parts in so I pulled the truck from his shop on January 14, 2022 and took it to another body shop to have the repairs done. This was a repair that was the result of an insurance claim so the funds that were provided to him were part of that settlement. He has yet to refund the money and I am needing help getting my funds back from him. We have had to come up with those funds in order to pay the other body shop. I would also like to be reimbursed for the money I had to spend to have a mobile mechanic come to his shop to remove and then again to reinstall the exhaust for the truck to fit into his shop."
"On December 20, 2021 I was told my car could be wrapped for $2800 and I could have the project started by the next week if I paid half "$1400" DOWN, Which I did and I've got nothing but excuses on why he can't start the job and now he won't answer his phone/email/ text to issue my refund he promised back in April. Since I paid through PayPal its my only receipt"
