    On 9/2 I signed an agreement with *** ****** of Decking Specialist to replace our deck at our Akron Home - *******************************. He required 50% deposit for materials and the total job was quoted at $12,000 which I gave him in two checks - $5,000 on 9/2 and $1,000 on 9/15. The job was to be completed in late September. On Sept 25 I texted to confirm start date and he said he was running behind and would know by the next day. I didn't hear from him and texted again on 9/29, 10/1, and 10/2. On 10/3 I requested a return of my deposit. He texted back on 10/3 saying he already had purchased some of the materials and would give me a start date by 6 that evening. Not hearing from him I texted again on 10/4 - no reply. I texted again on 10/19 - no reply. I texted again on 10/25 stating I wanted a refund and I would be taking further action if I did not get a reply. He finally texted back saying he was in the hospital and would call when he was out. I have not heard from him again. At this point I do not have any confidence that this job will get done. His lack of communication was very unprofessional. He was supposed to complete the job over a month ago and at this point I just want a return of my deposit. Your assistance is appreciated. (I tried to attach copies of the checks but your system said the were too large.)

    Contacted Decking Specialist to repair porch. The individual came and provided an estimate and send the contract. I sent cash via Zelle in the amount of $1,400. I have not heard back from the contractor.
