I had Granite Transformations resurface my cabinets in early 2021 and they did a fine job at the time. 2 of the cabinets near the stovetop have since warped due to normal cooking (despite using the vent fan while cooking). Since these cabinets are under warranty, I called to get these replaced. The new owner (AJ) stated that since a heat shield isn't installed, he won't honor the warranty. (At the time of installation, there was never a mention of the need for a heat shield.) This seems to be a case where the owner looks for any excuse to perform warranty work.

I am simply looking for the company to honor their warranty and replace these 2 cabinet doors. I do not know the cost of these 2 cabinet doors.

    Hello ********,

The cabinet manufacturer, Decorative Specialties, has determined that the external damage was beyond the warranty, which is out of the manufacturer's 5-year warranty period. The manufacturer mentioned that it is taking on too much direct heat, and the warranty does not cover heat-induced damage. We shared that with the customer, and they are demanding a free replacement.

Sorry, it was Decorative Specialties’ determination.

    Thank you for your support.

    Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because the cabinet refacing damage is indeed within the 5 year warranty period and was not a result of abuse or abnormal use or conditions.  The Granite Transformations Residential Warranty (linked here:  *************************************************************************************************************************************************** specifically states regarding heat damage:

This Lifetime Limited Warranty does not cover uses of
    Product exposed to outside
weather and climate conditions, abnormal use or conditions, or abuse in any way.
“Abnormal use or conditions” includes, but is not limited to, damage from mishandling
    or
misuse, damage from excessive heat or uneven exposure to weather
    conditions, exposure
to ultraviolet light, physical or chemical abuse, and damage from improper
    care and
maintenance, including, but not limited to, cracks and/or chips resulting
    from any
improper care, maintenance or other misuse or abuse.

In all instances when we cooked on the range top, we used the vent fan above the range to properly vent heat.  These cabinets were never exposed to the exterior, weren't misused or abused, and weren't handled improperly.

When the Granite Transformations female representative called me to relay the company's decision, she stated among other things, it was because we didn't have a heat shield installed.  There was never a mention of the need for a heat shield when these were installed in early 2021.

In short, we operate our kitchen in NORMAL conditions and this warranty should therefore apply to us.  It's a simple matter to replace these 2 cabinets.

    Sincerely,

    ***** *******

This company installed granite countertops at my residence in June 2024. In January of 2025, I contracted them with an issue related to the labor when installing. They have refused to send technicians out to examine or correct the issue.
