1 starThis bank is coming off as a badly run accounting scam as I am finding they don't keep very detailed logs of anything. They are trying to gaslight me into thinking it's my or my bank's mistakes but are unable to show me what I entered in despite me having updated/reviewed the payment info 3 times in 5 months to *make sure* it was correct for automation- my bank info I've had for a decade and use to pay for everything with no problems. I called customer service to figure this issue out and being neither helpful nor forthcoming, the female agent said I probably entered my payment info correct or had insufficient funds. Then she kept defaulting to "you'll need to make a payment to bring this account current" and left it at that. I told her that as the late fees may be a system issue and not because of my failure to pay, I wouldn't be making a payment on my balance until they were looked at, the issue resolved and When I refuted the above standard excuses and pointed out I needed better information from them to compare with my bank and my own records if I was going to be responsible for the late fees, she hung up on me. The agent clearly didn't try to problem solve NOR at any point ask her supervisor for support or help. I called again and reached a supervisor. He tried to dig a little further into their systems but was unable to find any useful information to support or deny their responsibility. He also regurgitated the standard excuses during our sleuthing. He waived 1/3 late fees, but we didn't resolve much at all. Either way, once this is resolved I am closing this account. Don't play with my credit and reputation like that.Review fromDeiadora B

1 starI am publicly documenting a deeply unethical and obstructive experience I had with Synchrony Bank while seeking financial hardship assistance on my TJX Rewards credit account.
After waiting over one hour to reach a human being, I was told by their outsourced call center that the only way to receive hardship assistance was to close my account — and even then, only if I could prove I had a second income source. Not only is this absurd, it's discriminatory toward anyone experiencing real hardship. It penalizes you for being honest about your financial situation.
What followed was a scripted, circular maze of misdirection and gaslighting. I was lied to, given no options, and ultimately left with nothing but exhaustion and frustration. The experience was designed to make me give up — not to help me.
Let me be clear:
- I was actively seeking help
- I was met with denial, miscommunication, and silence
- Their rep left a voicemail, but refuses to respond in writing
Synchrony’s policies appear intentionally misleading. They advertise support but weaponize silence and procedural confusion to avoid giving it. Their refusal to respond to follow-up emails or provide documentation tells me everything I need to know: this is a performance, not a solution.
If you’re considering working with TJMaxx, Synchrony, or any credit line attached to them — don’t. I’ll be filing a complaint with the CFPB and continuing to speak out until this system is seen for what it is: predatory, performative, and energetically abusive.

1 starFIRST and foremost, this “bank” is an extremely sexist organization. They refuse to speak with my wife without my “permission.” Considering the fact that she is the one that makes sure that all the bills are paid this is a purely sexist and archaic practice. SHE is the one that makes sure payments are made and they penalize and degrade her (implying that she is only property) for her diligence.
SECOND: Synchrony is refusing to follow the terms of the loan they purchased and that we agreed to when we took out the loan with ALLY LENDING, December 2, 2022. By law they must honor the terms a debtor agreed to prior their purchase of a loan. Instead Synchrony has changed our agreed monthly payment amount so that they can extend the length of our loan and collect more interest.
THIRD: The account number for our loan was changed by Synchrony so we don’t know if the money taken from our bank account (via auto pay) is actually being applied to our loan or is going to some other non-existent account. They have never sent us a statement with a new account number. They have penalized us for THEIR purchase of our loan and THEIR “transition.” When our mortgage was purchased by another company we did not experience any of these issues. Never have we seen such disreputable business practices.
Our demands are that they follow the terms that we agreed to with ALLY LENDING and they write a letter of apology for their sexist attitude and business practices. We have been married for 40 years and my wife deserves to be treated as a living person not a piece of property.Review fromChristopher R

1 starTo Whom It May Concern at Synchrony Bank and Lowe’s Corporate Offices,
I am writing to express my complete dissatisfaction and outrage regarding the Lowe’s Advantage Credit Card, issued by Synchrony Bank, and the fraudulent bait-and-switch practices associated with its so-called “promotional financing.”
When I used the Lowe’s credit card for a recent purchase, it was under the clear impression—and advertised promise—of receiving 6 months interest-free financing. At no point during the transaction was I advised otherwise, nor were any disclaimers provided at checkout that I would be ineligible. Yet now, after being lured into using this card under false pretenses, I am being charged interest as if no promotion ever existed.
This is not just a mistake—it is a blatant act of consumer deception. I followed the steps. I used your card. I trusted your partnership. And instead, I’ve been met with dishonesty, hidden terms, and a calculated effort to manipulate consumers into high-interest debt.
This experience has exposed what appears to be a pattern of predatory behavior by Synchrony Bank—a bank that thrives on confusion, ambiguity, and “gotcha” clauses buried deep within the fine print. The fact that Lowe’s, a nationally trusted retailer, has chosen to align with such an institution reflects extremely poor judgment and an utter disregard for your customers’ financial well-being.
I am immediately canceling my account and will never do business with Synchrony Bank again. Furthermore, I am reconsidering future business with Lowe’s unless this partnership is reevaluated. I also plan to file complaints with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and I will not hesitate to warn others about these predatory practices through public review channels.
This was not financing. This was fraud.
You’ve lost my trust, my business, and any recommendation I would have given.Review fromLeonidas J

1 starNegative stars if I could.
I paid my account off to $0 balance. But I was still billed interest for the following billing cycle. Why am I still paying interest on a closed account?
Absolutely no help at all from customer service nor from the manager as well.Review fromTre B

1 starThey said I had fraud on my Lowe's account. To verify myself they wanted a video of DL front & back, or I could mail in Bank Statement, Mortgage Statement , or picture of DL. What bank ask for personal info? NotReview fromDanielle B

1 starIf I could give them zero stars I would. I made a large purchase at Lowes. 2 weeks later when I closed my house, I had my bank cut a cashiers check and took the check directly to Lowes to which they credited my account back to zero. I just went back to make another large purchase of appliances and my card declined. When the associate got Synchrony on the phone they said that they were holding my credit for 2 more weeks to wait for a cashier's check to clear. To which I responded "It's the same as cash, I don't understand, Cashiers check's clear in a day" Long story short, they are probably holding onto it so they can collect interest on my money. They outright refused to release my credit. BEWARE. Don't use Synchrony. I am canceling every account I have with them. I will not give them a dime more of my hard earned money.Review fromMaripaz Y

1 starI agreed to a financing plan recommended by a Dr.Yu who administered stem cell treatment on me Dec 2023 with Care Credit of Synchrony Bank. They were sending me statements of how much I have to pay monthly with the balance which I deligently paid on time. But Apparently, they did not calculate the total amount to be paid within the promo period of 18 months and I was never forwarned of the deadline. All of a sudden, I'm penalized with a huge amount because the deadline was yesterday June 22,2025. Now they are giving me a grace period of 1 month. My question is why did they not make a good computation from the start so that I don't have to go beyond the deadline. They scammed me for giving a low minimum monthly payment only to be slapped with a huge penalty. Synchrony Bank should be transparent and give the consumer a clear understanding of the contract.Review fromJerry K

1 starHorrible experience! Account closed unexpectedly after over 20 years of ontime payments, paid in full every month. Customer Service agent said I had 2 stop payments in a row and nothing can be done. I have no idea what they are talking about. I wasn't notified about any issue with my account until I received a letter stating my account was closed. I have excellent credit and I like to keep it that way. Sam's Club needs to reconsider their relationship with Synchrony because they are going to lose a customer over this situation. Synchrony has NO common sense or any idea how to treat good paying customers. They only want customers they can generate interest, fees and penalties on. They should be ashamed.
