    According to information in BBB files, The Ohio State University, signed a 50 year lease turning over management of their parking operations to CampusParc in September 2013. CampusParc is responsible for the operation of the OSU parking system including parking access to campus, parking assistance, directions, customer service, parking facility maintenance – including major renovations, management of the permit system, motorist assistance, special events parking management and parking enforcement. 

    For 2013 through 2015, the number of Inquiries, Complaints and Customer Reviews BBB received steadily rose. Specifically, the number of inquiries BBB received from 2013 to 2015 increased by over 2600 per cent. Complaints over the same period increased one-hundred per cent, and Customer Reviews increased one thousand per cent. 

    According to the Columbus Dispatch article of 1.29 16 "Despite complaints, parking deal results in millions for Ohio State", "Customer-service statistics kept by CampusParc suggest the age-old problems of parking on campus — not enough spaces, ticket machines that don't work, long waits on the phone when you need help — aren't improving. For 2013 through 2015, indicators of trouble, such as the average number of calls made per month, the number of times customers gave up on those calls without an answer and the average hold time per call have steadily risen."

    A common complaint in BBB files, more parking permits issued than spaces available, is not likely to get better. According to OSU meeting minutes from the Parking Advisory Committee, another 1900 parking spaces will be lost mid to late 2016 when the Canon Drive project launches.

    According to the CampusParc website, year long parking permit prices range from $115 to $936.

    On January 11, 2024, I received a parking citation from CampusParc with the following violation description "Disregarding Signs, Markings, or Barricades." However, there are no signs, marking, nor barricades that state "No parking" where I had temporarily parked despite other areas of campus specifically being labeled as "No parking" when parking is not permitted. More specifically, I had parked in an area on OSU's campus labelled as a "service area" which by definition is an area with services available to motorists. The other side of the service area is labelled with a no parking sign as it is a fire lane. Absolutely no signs are present on the side in which I I temporarily parked. I submitted an appeal on January 12, 2024, given that I had not disregarded any signs, markings, or barricades (as the violation description stated I had). I never received an update despite my account saying an email had been submitted to me with an update on the appeal status. Given this, I assumed the appeal had been approved. On February 13, 2024, I received another citation from CampusParc for the same reason for temporarily parking in the same area as I had assumed my appeal had been approved and temporary parking for services in the service area was permitte. My hazards were on and I had been parking for approximately 2 minutes to complete my services in the service area. There were still no signs, markings, nor barricades indicating parking is not permitted in this specific side of the service area. I contacted CampusParc on February 15, 2024, regarding the procedural error in the appeal process for my January 12, 2024 citation. I was told "...you unfortunately were part of the group that either did not receive the decision or the decision was sent to the spam folder." An email is not in my spam folder/I did not receive the decision.

    I was issued a citation for parking over a line while no parking spots were available allowing for safe parking. Two vehicles between this spot were over the lines forcing me to follow suite. I appealed my ticket with campusparc on June 21st 2023 and heard nothing until today October 28th 2023. Not only did they fail to respond to my appeal, but they’ve issued a late fee. This system is absolutely broken. No OSU employee should have to deal with such poor management.
