Refund and Exchange Policy

The policy is written in accordance with Ohio Administrative Code section 3332-1-10.1.  If a student withdraws or is dismissed from school, all efforts will be made to refund pre-paid amounts for books, fees and supplies except for the following:  
Charges for required purchase of books, fees and supplies are non-refundable if the student has consumed or used the books, fees and/or supplies. Consumption of books, fees and supplies shall be defined as:  (1) Items that were special ordered for a particular student and cannot be used by or sold to another student; or, (2) Items that were returned in a condition that prevents them from being used by or sold to new students. (3) Individually documented non-refundable fees for goods or services provided by third party vendors.  A record of the refund determination for books, fees and supplies shall be kept in the student's record.  If the program or class that a student enrolls in is cancelled, the student shall receive the full amount of funds submitted.  
If a student accepted by Academia Medical Institute (AMI) cancels prior to the start of scheduled classes or never attends class (no-show), AMI will refund all monies paid except the application and entrance examination fees.  If a student is not accepted into a training program, all program costs paid by the student shall be refunded. A student who withdraws before the first class before the class starts shall be obligated for the registration fee.   
Refunds shall be based upon the last date of the student’s attendance or participation in an academic school activity.  A student who starts class and withdraws during the first full calendar week of the semester shall be obligated for 25 percent of the tuition and refundable fees for that academic terms plus the registration fee.  A student who withdraws during the second full calendar week of the academic term shall be obligated for fifty (50) percent of the tuition and refundable fees for that academic term plus the registration fee.  A student who withdraws during the third full calendar week of the academic term shall be obligated for seventy-five (75) percent of the tuition and refundable fees for the academic term plus the registration fee.  A student who officially withdraws beginning within the fourth full calendar week of the academic termwill not be entitled to a refund of any portion of the tuition or refundable fees.  The school shall make the appropriate refund within thirty (30) days of the date the school is able to determine that a student has withdrawn or has been terminated from a program. 
VETERANS REFUND POLICY 
In the event that veterans or their eligible persons sponsored as students under Chapters 30, 32, 35 of Title 38 and Chapter 1606 or Title 10 U.S. Code, fail to enter the Program or withdraw or are discontinued therefrom at any time prior to completion, the amount charged for tuition, fees and other charges shall not exceed the approximate pro rata portion of the total charges for tuition, fees and other charges that the length of the non-accredited program bears to it’s total length. A registration fee of $10 need not be refundable: any amount beyond that is subject to pro ration and refund (CFR 21.4254( c) (13)). The pro rata portion may not vary more than 10 percent of the total costs for tuition, fees, and other charges. A copy of this policy will be provided to all students receiving educational benefits from the Veterans Administration.
