Wildfires across the Los Angeles area are expected to become the costliest such disaster in U.S. history. As victims cope with the aftermath, it is crucial to stay vigilant against opportunistic scammers. In addition, those wishing to help by donating money or supplies should carefully research organizations before contributing. BBB offers guidance to protect both victims and donors. Important information

  • Advertising Review:

In February 2024, BBB contacted Martin's Credit Doctors regarding claims in its advertising.

Its advertising includes claims such as:
"Clean up your credit report and increase your credit score!"
"We help improve your credit scores by disputing…Bankruptcies, Collections, Medical Collections, Repossessions, Child Support, Judgments, Late Payments, Tax Liens, Charged Off Accounts, Inquiries"

The BBB Code of Advertising states that the primary responsibility for truthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisers should be prepared to substantiate any claims or offers made before publication or broadcast and, upon request, present such substantiation promptly to the advertising medium or the Better Business Bureau. Claims relating to performance or results for a product or service should be based on recent and competent testing or other objective data.  The business did not provide substantiation for these claims.

Its advertising includes testimonials from clients, including:
"I didn’t have a credit score until Martin’s Credit Doctors helped me. Now I have a 730 credit score."
"Before I came across Martins page I knew nothing about credit or how to build it! In just a few short months later my credit grew from a low 500s to mid 600s!"
"I told him I wanted to get a car and he got my credit together immediately and I was able to get my car."
"Got 4 accounts and 7 inquiry deleted on first go around."
    "I started with a low 650 and in 3 months I'm at 717."

In general, advertising which uses testimonials or endorsements is likely to mislead or confuse if it contains representations or statements which would be misleading if made directly by the advertiser and if the consumer’s experience represented in an advertisement is not the typical experience of those using the product or service, unless the advertisement clearly and conspicuously discloses what the expected results will be. These are claims that require substantiation. BBB asked the business if these testimonials are examples of typical results and, if not, what results can customers expect on average, but did not receive a reply.

In October 2024, BBB contacted the business again regarding additional claims in its advertising.

Its website includes the statements "#1 Business Coaching Program" and "#1 AI-Powered Credit Repair Company." According to the BBB Code of Advertising, superlative statements in advertisements about the tangible qualities and performance values of a product or service are objective claims for which the advertiser must possess substantiation as they can be based upon accepted standards or tests. As statements of fact, such claims can be proved or disproved.  Consumers may try to verify this status by looking for data to confirm how the '#1' ranking was determined.  The business did not substantiate, modify, or discontinue these claims.
