1 starFraudulent misrepresentation of Jewelry... I am a seasoned auction buyer. I have a good standing relationship with most of the major auction houses it the USA. I recently purchased a 15ct emerald ring from EBTH... Their description never disclosed that the stone had been broken, repaired and then glued into the platinum setting. Our intentions were to remove the stone from the setting, have the emerald GIA graded, then reset in a nicer setting. Upon removal, which involved cutting the old setting in half so not to stress the stone we discovered the stone had been previously glued together and then glued into its setting. This kind of thing goes against all industry standards as is considered to be fraudulent. The response from EBTH was there was nothing they could do about it. They would however be reviewing other items from the seller. This behavior is what gives the whole business a bad image. Sincerely ****Review fromb. w.

1 starIf I could give less than 1 star, I would. do not deal with these people.i sent two paintings valued at roughly $800 each. they supposedly sold them at auction for $14. i did actually ask for them not to be sold at a ridiculous price. then they called today and said because they didnt sell for a decent price, they wont be sending me a check at all. so i dont even get the $14. another piece of art went to a different auction house and was sold for $1300. I wish i had sent these two paintings to them instead of EBTH. awful awful auction houseEverything But the House

We understand you're disappointed with the sale price of your artwork, and we sincerely apologize for any frustration this has caused. We always aim to satisfy our clients with their consignment experience. We want to clarify a few points regarding the sale. When we received your artwork, our specialists identified it as a hand-colored print, not an original painting. This distinction significantly impacts an item's market value. While you mentioned a previous valuation of $800.00, we were unaware of this expectation before the ******* we discussed when you consigned the item, we did not have a sales history for similar pieces, and we explained that we do not offer reserves or minimums on EBTH sales. You agreed to proceed with the sale under these terms. The final sale price reflects the market's valuation of the item as a hand-colored print, without a reserve. We know this wasn't the outcome you hoped for, and we regret that our assessment and the market's response didn't align with your expectations. We value your business and hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future.b. w.

1 starI found sports cards that could have been very valuable because everything in the ***** 1986 set pretty much is. I was very excited, but realized I made a huge mistake in bidding/winning some sports trading cards because they were ALL LAMINATED..therefore worth NOTHING !! This was on Saturday night (now Tuesday). In the HELP SECTION, there is NOTHING on RETURNS or REFUNDS. They were closed Sunday and I emailed them and called first thing Monday morning. **** Attorney General states RETURN POLICY MUST BE CONSPICUOS TO BUYER. I spoke with CS and explained I was on SS Dis and I would lose that money bc cards no good and asked to please help me. They had plenty of time to stop one order from shipping and I actually spoke with ***** and they were supposed to stop the shipment, but that didn't happen. I had to try and stop the sales before shipment bc EBTH charged me $35 (order total $79) to ship 30 baseball cards when **** would be $5.00-- 2nd order---She did put the $240 on hold, but I haven't heard a word back from them. The order was removed yesterday and now it's back. I MADE THESE HUGE MISTAKES, but they are easily fixed. I will update what happens. I found the return info in the ******************* which is prob 3 pages extra small print and it's their discretion to honor a return. I hope they end up being the type of people you would expect that works with businesses for Charity purposes, but I will update this review.Review fromSarah B

1 starI purchased two paintings from EBTH and when I found they did not compliment my new design scheme, related them for sale at EBTH.This was an unfortunate decision on my part. The photographs that were posted in the resale were of such poor quality that I could hardly recognize them. I called.sent emails requesting that the auction stop until pictures of at least the quality of the pictures posted when I purchased the paintings be posted. No one ever responded to my phone calls or emails until many days after the auction ended. The auction, of course , went poorly. It was one of my worst online experiences.Everything But the House

Good morning,The associate in charge of your contract reached out this morning to convey our deepest apologies. Unfortunately, they were working with a second client with the same name. As such, they believed they had resolved your issues. This was an oversight, and we are taking responsibility. Please see your email for the proposed solution in the form of compensation.Thank you.Review fromAngela K

1 starI contacted EBTH to sell a rare Asian collection. I was told by ***** who called me several tomes from her private cell that she would have a value appraisal done on the collection. They never did it. We had 3 brokers tell us the collection was at a minimum $30k but needed it properly evaluated.
They lied! The entire collection was not given a value appraisal like ***** told me would. It was sold for less than $100. When I contacted them during the auction I was told that it would be pulled so we could discuss, ***** lied. We have recordings of ***** lies but my collection is gone! For nothing ! They're scammers and liars .Review fromWiley B

1 starI have been a customer for over 8 years and have purchased thousands of dollars of items through EBTH, including in the last month. The description for a small listing of only $80 was incomplete and misleading and I asked to return the item, the only one of which in all the 8 years. They refused after both calls and emails, even after offering to pay for return shipping myself. I said I plan to dispute the charge with **** and they said they would cancel my account with **********************. As such, I am no longer a customer and recommend no one else be as well.Review fromTom P

1 starBought a poster, received the wrong one returned it and never got my money or the original poster. You can't talk to anyone of course, left massages to no call backs? Also like everyone **** says, shipping is way to high! I've spent well over ten thousand dollars at Everything But The House, and I can't get a little respect? And now I'm done.Review fromTrudy H

1 starShipping is ridiculously high and out of the bidder’s control. Shipping should not be profit center unless it is clearly stated as such. This is in addition to the auctioneer’s fees, which are to be expected. I work with a number of auction houses, but this is the only one that treats shipping as a way to squeeze more money out of the bidders.Review fromUrsula M

1 starI've bid on several auction sites and had a very positive experience, until EBTH. A $24 item was shipped by some random freight company (not listed with the BBB and no website provided, just a phone # and email address) and the total cost was over $300; more than 5 times the cost of ***** and **** which would arrive earlier (pricing sheets were attached to email to show the vast difference in price). The only way this shipping cost would be appropriate is if the shipper hand carried the item and walked it from **** to **. I contacted them within 48hours of receiving the invoice to have them hold the shipping, but was told it was already shipped but the invoice clearly says pick-up items will be available for pick-up for 8-10 days and they will try to get items shipped within 10 days. If I had 8-10 days to pick up the item, why would it be shipped within 48hrs? Did my 39x28x22" item take up so much room that they had to get it out of their warehouse immediately? Why was the other item not shipped until 10/23? There was no insurance placed on the item, but I was charged for expedited shipping which seems absurd if they view the item as antique/valuable. Also tried to contact the shipping company at the number they gave me, to no avail! I only selected shipping because I wasn't sure if I could get off work during their pick-up window- huge mistake. I would say I won't make that mistake again, but know I WILL NEVER USE THIS SITE AGAIN. This was the most unpleasant experience and cash grab that I've ever encountered. Hopefully, enough bad reviews will cause EBTH and their hand-picked, second-tier shipper will change their shady business practices and stop ripping off customers!Review fromLynda K

1 starSELLERS BEWARE!! Everything But The House is not what it used to be. They take over 30 days to process your items, their commission rates are outrageous. Anything that sells from 0-$30, they keep 100% of the money. You get -0-. Anything that sells $31-60, they charge a $30 commission rate. $60-250, they charge 50% commission.
They will tell you they will group items for a higher selling price, they do not.
They send will cut you a check and sent it in the snail mail....delaying the minuscule proceeds you do make. A complete and utter waste of time and money.
