On June 19, ******* *******, came out to our house and fixed some masonry cracks that we had noticed. We had a leak in the roof which caused us to take inventory of other places that water could get in. After the work was completed, we began to have water seeping in through the walls rather than dripping down from the ceiling. On 07/06/2023, Shamrock Chimney supposedly "Recrowned" my chimney and installed chimney caps. On 08/10/2024, Shamrock Chimney supposedly installed an insulated stainless steel flue liner for a new woodstove. When the wood stove was delivered, the stove technician inspected the chimney and flues, and would not install the stove as there were very serious defects in the chimney and liner. I was told the chimney and flues were unsafe.******** Chimney did defective work on the crown and cap installations, resulting in leaks into the house and into the chimney, damaging its structure. The steel liner that was installed was NOT insulated even though the invoice and resulting payment were for an insulated liner. The liner was seriously damaged (kinked, torn) upon installation, rendering the chimney unusable and unsafe. The chimney caps were not properly installed and fastened, being merely stuck on the flues with gobs of silicone sealant. The liner was not properly fastened the top of the flue or properly terminated or capped inside the chimney below the stove T-fitting and thimble. Numerous violations of multiple IRC building and NFPA 211 chimney codes were noted by several reputable chimney inspectors/technicians.Repairs to the chimney and flues ranging in the tens of thousands of dollars are required before the stove can be installed. Multiple calls and emails to Shamrock Chimney have been ignored. Photo documentation has been sent to them as they requested, but every time I call, I am told my issue "will be forwarded to management and that I will receive a call back today or tomorrow". It never happens. They always say the last person I spoke with was not the proper party to address the situation. They have given me multiple phone numbers and an email address to which they do not respond. I am out a lot of money and must now pay a reputable contractor about 4X what I already paid Shamrock to fix the mess they made, truly a horrible situation.Business Response

Hiring a different installer to evaluate the existing work can sometimes result in varying conclusions, especially when different scopes and standards are being reviewed. This is a typical part of construction and renovation projects.
The hairline crack in the crown, as shown in the photograph, is merely the cement drying out, which is a normal occurrence in such applications. Our previous contractor also noted this during their inspection, and it does not compromise the integrity of the crown or the safety of the chimney at this stage.
Regarding the liner damage you mentioned, stainless steel chimney liners are designed to withstand high temperatures and are double-walled for insulation. Damage such as kinks or tears, if observed, would be inconsistent with the products typical durability. We stand behind the quality of our work and materials used.
It is also true that we received your emails, but they were sent to an incorrect address multiple times. Only recently did you provide the correct contact information, which we have now received and acknowledged. 1. "All work completed by Shamrock Chimney was fully detailed in the contract, and each step was explained to you prior to beginning the services. We operate transparently and ensure our clients are informed about all procedures and materials involved."
Ther was no contract presented OR approved by me prior to the work being done. The technicians showed up, did the work on the spot, and I paid over the phone to the office, and was sent an invoice from billing/payment service.
2. "It is common in projects involving multiple contractors for opinions and assessments to differ. I had fully qualified and certified (and in in one case contracted) technicians (i.e., one stove installer a two chimney technicians/inspectors) all state the work was not done correctly and created unsafe conditions. In two other instances I had additional parties (certified chimney technicians) review the photo documentation and inspections report and they concluded the same. Five (5) qualified parties all came to the same conclusion. Furthermore, multiple IRC building and NFPA 211 chimney code violations were noted and are NOT "different scopes and standards being questioned. It is evident to even an untrained person without specialized knowledge of chimney construction looking at the photographs provided that the work is not done correctly.

To properly recrown a chimney, the old material needs to be removed, and a form built, and new material poured. This was not done. There are leaks into the house.

A double-walled insulated liner was NOT used. This evident in the photos. A simple 6" corrugated stainless-steel pipe, uninsulated, was used. I have remnant left from the job and multiple inspectors looked at it and said it was not code complaint. Furthermore, and insulated pipe would have been larger in diameter and required removal of flue tiles for installation. This was not done.
5. "It is also true that we received your emails, but they were sent to an incorrect address multiple time. Only recently did you provide the correct contact information, which we have now received and acknowledged. We are committed to resolving your concerns and maintaining clear communication moving forward."
I sued the same email each and every time, and when the business finally responded, it was to correspondence sent to that THAT e-mail address.
6. "Lastly, we offer a warranty on all our work and would be more than happy to return and address any issues or concerns you may have. Our goal is to ensure your chimney and related components meet safety and quality standards.
I assume this means they will come out and fix their work. But, if it was not done correctly the first time, what guarantee do I have that it will be correctly done the second? I have scheduled an inspection.

On Friday April 11, 2025, Shamrock Chimney came for a chimney inspection and sweep, quoted at $49. For ~10 years, there had been no issues with my chimney, though the fireplace was not in use.Shamrock got on the roof, broke off the chimney cap, then said it would be $1350 to repair it or it would fly off. I declined, and the cap - which had been fine for a decade - flew off the next day. I have been trying to get in contact with Shamrock for two weeks; twice they said a manager would call the next day. I have received no calls. I am requesting they either fix the chimney cap or pay for a reputable company to do so. I am attaching pictures before and after their "inspection". Note, based on other reviews, this seems to be a pattern of behavior for Shamrock.Business Response

Shirts said Shamrock ***************** Shamrock Chimney - ****** and **** or ***.Estimate #****-1 - Attached. The fireplace hearth was done using a wood frame and blue stone was put in the fireplace instead if fire brick. They put a two inch blob of concrete under the blue stone and left a 4 inch overhang on the front that will break if anything heavy is placed on the hearth. I had Bricks Chimney come out and they said it was not built to code and if I had started a fire in the fireplace, it could have ignited and burnt the house down. I reached out to ****** at Shamrock directly and he said they could redo but it would cost me additional money. He said they would contact me the next day to schedule and I have not heard from them. When I call ******, it appears as though my number has been blocked. Bricks is going to charge me $4000 to tear down and redo to code. I am attaching the quote from Shamrock for review. I have attached photos of the workmanship provided by Shamrock Chimney. You can see the 2 in wide concrete at the top of the hearth and the hearthstone inside of the firebox. You can also see the varying overhangs and the wide
insert of additional concrete at the top of the hearthstone on either side to account for the additional space due to miscalculation. I have had numerous conversations with ***** who talks over me telling me this was done to code. She promised me twice last week that her manager would call me and I have not heard from anyone. She suggested that they could squeeze i a piece of brick at the top to make it look better but said I would need to compensate them should they crack the
hearthstone in the process. I told her I am seeking an independent inspection of the work and she asked for a copy when I get it.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE NO PICTURES OF THE WOODEN INSERT USED WITHIN THE BASE OF THE HEARTH.
That service will cost me an additional $399.00 and will involve taking the base apart to show the wood inside the hearth. It is scheduled for 4/14 and I will need compensation from Shamrock as well as a refund of the $2900 spent for this shoddy work. I will also follow up with **** with these photos as well.

I do NOT want Shamrock back out here to fix it. the said they would insert pieces of bricks to make it look better but if the hearth stone is damaged, I would need to replace it. ***** said it was not only to code but better than code.
Bricks came out and did the inspection and found a wooden frame in the hearth which is NOT to code. I want the $399 dollars is cost me to prove e it was not to code - they had to cut bricks out to show the wooden insert - and the $2900 cost to give me a shoddy hearth. Hearth stones go on top of the hearth a d should not be incorporated into the fire brick inside the fire place.
**** has been update and Apple will get a call after this message/estimate is forwarded. Please address the hearth inspection. The chimney will need work but this is specifically regarding the hearth replacement with Shamrock.

I had a terrible experience with this so-called "special promotion" for a routine cleaning that ended up costing me $1,150. The technicians who came to my house were friendly and professional, but the real issue lies with their so-called "project manager" ******** and the rest of the company.The work was incomplete, and when I requested an invoice and pictures, I received the pictures immediately but had to wait days for the invoice. When it finally came, it was clearly doctoredshowing work that wasn't completed and pricing that didnt match what I was told. I had to call them five times to speak with her, who was unhelpful and clearly didn't know how to do her job.The invoice listed charges for installation and chimney caps, which were supposed to be free according to the technicians. When I raised this concern, they denied everything and were extremely dismissive. To make matters worse, I even sent them a video of the technicians confirming the free items (captured by my Ring doorbell), but after three days, I've heard nothing from ******* top it all off, if you look at their ****** reviews, they all look suspiciously similar, and many appear to be fake accounts. On 10/7/24 we had Shamrock Chimney install new stainless steel ************** in our chimney. They installed two. The also put new steel caps on both. On 10/21/24 one of the caps blew off and was hanging off the side of the chimney. It took them over a week to come and fix it. Then on 12/6/24 the same cap blew completely off the roof and landed in my driveway, luckily my car was not parked there. It took them until 1/4/25 to fix it. I called they set a time to come out and they would not show. I had 5 different appointments, only to have them not show. We had torrential rains during this time and it was the chimney cap for my pellet stove. I spoke to a guy at one point who threatened not to fix it all because I was angry at the service I was receiving after paying $3,300 for their services. When I asked what would happen with no cap on and rain getting in, his response was what difference does it make you haven't had a cap on the chimney. I lost it on him because YES I DID! There was always a cap on my chimney and it never fell off in the 8 years I have owned this home!! I have never in my life felt like all a company cared about was getting their money and then you can wait if something goes wrong. It took literally a half and hour from start to finish to put the new cap on and they couldn't send someone over in between jobs to do that. Now, every time we have gusts of wind my stomach turns worrying the cap is going to blow off again. We have solar panels on our roof and luckily when the cap flew off it went down the side of the roof without the panels, had it gone down the opposite side it would have broke solar panels and possibly could start a fire! I just do not feel like they took this seriously and I don't feel safe with those caps on my house. I worry all the time now because of this. I am asking for a billing adjustment of $500.00 so that I can have another company inspect the chimney caps and if necessary fix or replace them.Business Response

i hired shamrock chimmney here in ******** ********* now ive seen a ton of complaints here about the buisness and i see there is also a shamrock chimmeny in ********, im curious where these other complaints are out of, had two gentleman show up for what i was told would be $100 flat rate chimmney sweep and inspection, i watched later on my ring camera (only my wife was home at time, first mistake) they carried only a latter around back to chimmney set it up an immediately came back around house where they entered basement, said there was a blockage and it would be an additional $200 to remove it, i guess that isnt considered "cleaning" they then brought a vaccum into the basement walked back out to truck several times and wasted time by standing behind it, all in all they were inside my basement for about 8 minutes, once they said job was completed they then walked back around to chimmney took latter and left i climbed up yesterday to look at chimmney and it is still full of soot build up.Business Response

This company is a ****. DO NOT USE. Shamrock sent ***** to clean and inspect my chimney. ***** looked up the flue and immediately declared there was Stage 3 Cresote everywhere. Ultimately said give him $1400 and he'll take care of it. I declined and asked him to complete the cleaning. I had a chimney expert provide a second opinion and learned there was no Stage 3 creosote and that the chimney had not even been properly cleaned. Subsequently, I reported this to Shamrock's manager, *****. She said they would issue a refund. She never did. COMPLETE SCAM!Customer Answer

I called Shamrock Chimney on November 16, 2024 to get a quote on my Chimney rebuilt and Chimney liner. They came out that same day and quoted me $6,500 to get it all done by that Wednesday. I gave them a deposit of $1,000 which was charged to my credit card. I unfortunately had another emergency within my home that required me to take care of it immediately. So I called Shamrock back on November 17, 2024 to let them know I would be unable to stick to doing my Chimney at the moment and needed my deposit refunded. They told me that they would refund the deposit and even text me link to a receipt stating the refund was issued. After checking my credit card statement for two entire weeks I realized they never issued the refund as they had stated to me over the phone or through the text receipt. I called them twice to find out what was going on and they told me they completed the refund on their end. I had to call my credit card to put in a dispute since it was clear they lied about issuing me a refund. We are now on December ******. The issue has not been resolved nor does it look like they want to give me my refund. I was going to return to them to get my Chimney done later down the line but after this situation I will definitely not go to them for business.Business Response

I used this service to do a chimney sweep-they broke my end cap and never advised me-tried to upsell me on repairs to my outsider-pics below- they said that I needed these done eventually but never told me that I couldnt use the equipment. I tried to start a fire two weeks later and smoke quickly came into the hom due to the broken cap.
