We contacted this company which I think is a scam to replace broken and falling bricks on our front porch. The estimate said they would shave down the bottom steps to accommodate their bricks, which they didnt do so now the step is 13 inches high which is to high for me cause Im disabled. They say they are veteran owned, which my husband is and have contacted them several times and they wont fix the issue. I even called them today to find out their physical address here in ******** and they refused to give it to me. I have proof they didnt shave down the bottom step because I have pictures where you can see the nail glue from the old bricks.Initial Complaint

In July we had two chimney caps installed. Within a week one of the caps fell off. I called and let them know about the situation. A follow up visit was scheduled to repair the issue. It is now October and the issue is not resolved. We are on our 4th rescheduled appointment. I paid for a chimney cap installation and as of now the cap is not installed.Business Response

We signed a contract with this company. They came out and gave us an estimate of ******The first time they came out they broughtthe wrong lift and had to re-order another lift to do the job. The new lift arrived and then we got a call from them sayingthat it was gonna more money after they came out twice and looked at the job. They claim that we misrepresented a job they refusing to give us back at $2500 deposit. Theybreach the contract by not doing the job and they also ordered the lift and our name and didn't pay for it. We have a lien notice the lift company for $4500 the lift was in quoted in the quote. All they've given us right now is a runaround. we're looking to get paid for the deposit and the cost of the lift to prevent a lien on our property.Business Response

Shamrock Chimney was hired to clean my wood stove chimney. They did half the job and after knocking the debris down from the upper part of the chimney they refused to clean the bottom portion where everything from above landed. I was informed that they couldnt remove the existing chimney cap so they cut it off and installed a cap that was the wrong size and of an inferior material than the stainless steel that I was informed it was made of. This cap was never fastened down and a good wind would have blown it off. Everyone that *** dealt with in this company were uncooperative and nasty people.Business Response

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. I am deeply sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the service you received from Shamrock Chimney, and I would like to address the issues you raised.
It's concerning to hear that our team only completed half the cleaning job and that they refused to clean the bottom portion of your wood stove chimney after knocking the debris down. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide.
I also want to apologize for the issue with the chimney cap. You mentioned that our team couldnt remove the existing cap and proceeded to cut it off, then installed a cap that was the wrong size and made of inferior material. Your concerns about this matter is well placed, particularly with the cap not being fastened down, and I'm committed to ensuring that this is addressed.
I would like to understand the full extent of what occurred and the impact these events had on your satisfaction with our services. Please reach out to me directly at ********************************** Its essential that I review the circumstances and have the opportunity to correct this matter.
Thank you for your time and understanding, and I hope to hear from you soon.

I had a chimney repointed, then they recommended I have a liner and cap installed. After a heavy rain I noticed signs of leaking/moisture. I contacted them to come evaluate the problem. They could not schedule me for 2 weeks, I wanted a sooner appointment and was yelled at by the technician telling me it was likely because my basement is damp, even though I run a dehumidifier 24/7. They finally scheduled me, then did not show up despite me taking a vacation day to sit at home. They rescheduled me and the same thing happened. No I have to wait another 2 weeks. I have noticed several complaints here for leaking after liner installations. It is unacceptable, I just had a new roof installed and any water damage to my roof and/or attic will be a direct result from their bad work. I am going to pay out of pocket for an inspection and to assess for any water damage to my home/new roof.Business Response
Date: 08/08/2025
Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns. We sincerely apologize for the frustration caused by the scheduling issues and the inconvenience you've experienced.
Please be assured that water infiltration into your home is not related to the chimney liner installation. The chimney liner and caps are designed to prevent water entry into the chimney itself, but they do not typically impact leaks originating from other areas of your roof or attic. Water leaks after roof work can be caused by various factors, and we understand your concern about potential water damage.
Regarding the scheduling, we want to clarify that our team works outside, navigating many external factors such as weather and traffic conditions, which can sometimes affect our ability to keep to exact appointment times. We depend on a range of external factors beyond our control, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience this has caused.
We are committed to resolving your issues as promptly as possible and appreciate your patience. If you have already scheduled an inspection outside our services, we understand your decision to ensure your homes safety and integrity. Please feel free to contact us should you need further assistance or clarification.
Thank you for your understanding.

On June 19, ******* *******, came out to our house and fixed some masonry cracks that we had noticed. We had a leak in the roof which caused us to take inventory of other places that water could get in. After the work was completed, we began to have water seeping in through the walls rather than dripping down from the ceiling. I attempted to reach out to the company, but no one has responded.Business Response

On 07/06/2023, Shamrock Chimney supposedly "Recrowned" my chimney and installed chimney caps. On 08/10/2024, Shamrock Chimney supposedly installed an insulated stainless steel flue liner for a new woodstove. When the wood stove was delivered, the stove technician inspected the chimney and flues, and would not install the stove as there were very serious defects in the chimney and liner. I was told the chimney and flues were unsafe.******** Chimney did defective work on the crown and cap installations, resulting in leaks into the house and into the chimney, damaging its structure. The steel liner that was installed was NOT insulated even though the invoice and resulting payment were for an insulated liner. The liner was seriously damaged (kinked, torn) upon installation, rendering the chimney unusable and unsafe. The chimney caps were not properly installed and fastened, being merely stuck on the flues with gobs of silicone sealant. The liner was not properly fastened the top of the flue or properly terminated or capped inside the chimney below the stove T-fitting and thimble. Numerous violations of multiple IRC building and NFPA 211 chimney codes were noted by several reputable chimney inspectors/technicians.Repairs to the chimney and flues ranging in the tens of thousands of dollars are required before the stove can be installed. Multiple calls and emails to Shamrock Chimney have been ignored. Photo documentation has been sent to them as they requested, but every time I call, I am told my issue "will be forwarded to management and that I will receive a call back today or tomorrow". It never happens. They always say the last person I spoke with was not the proper party to address the situation. They have given me multiple phone numbers and an email address to which they do not respond. I am out a lot of money and must now pay a reputable contractor about 4X what I already paid Shamrock to fix the mess they made, truly a horrible situation.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out and providing your concerns. We appreciate the opportunity to clarify our position regarding the work performed.
All work completed by Shamrock Chimney was fully detailed in the contract, and each step was explained to you prior to beginning the services. We operate transparently and ensure our clients are informed about all procedures and materials involved.
It is common in projects involving multiple contractors for opinions and assessments to differ. Hiring a different installer to evaluate the existing work can sometimes result in varying conclusions, especially when different scopes and standards are being reviewed. This is a typical part of construction and renovation projects.
The hairline crack in the crown, as shown in the photograph, is merely the cement drying out, which is a normal occurrence in such applications. Our previous contractor also noted this during their inspection, and it does not compromise the integrity of the crown or the safety of the chimney at this stage.
Regarding the liner damage you mentioned, stainless steel chimney liners are designed to withstand high temperatures and are double-walled for insulation. Damage such as kinks or tears, if observed, would be inconsistent with the products typical durability. We stand behind the quality of our work and materials used.
It is also true that we received your emails, but they were sent to an incorrect address multiple times. Only recently did you provide the correct contact information, which we have now received and acknowledged. We are committed to resolving your concerns and maintaining clear communication moving forward.
Lastly, we offer a warranty on all our work and would be more than happy to return and address any issues or concerns you may have. Our goal is to ensure your chimney and related components meet safety and quality standards.
We hope this clarifies our position. Please contact us at your earliest convenience so we can arrange for a professional assessment and work towards a satisfactory resolution.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:Addressing the six (6) points in the business's response:
1. "All work completed by Shamrock Chimney was fully detailed in the contract, and each step was explained to you prior to beginning the services. We operate transparently and ensure our clients are informed about all procedures and materials involved."
Ther was no contract presented OR approved by me prior to the work being done. The technicians showed up, did the work on the spot, and I paid over the phone to the office, and was sent an invoice from billing/payment service.
2. "It is common in projects involving multiple contractors for opinions and assessments to differ. Hiring a different installer to evaluate the existing work can sometimes result in varying conclusions, especially when different scopes and standards are being reviewed. This is a typical part of construction and renovation projects."
I had fully qualified and certified (and in in one case contracted) technicians (i.e., one stove installer a two chimney technicians/inspectors) all state the work was not done correctly and created unsafe conditions. In two other instances I had additional parties (certified chimney technicians) review the photo documentation and inspections report and they concluded the same. Five (5) qualified parties all came to the same conclusion. Furthermore, multiple IRC building and NFPA 211 chimney code violations were noted and are NOT "different scopes and standards being questioned. It is evident to even an untrained person without specialized knowledge of chimney construction looking at the photographs provided that the work is not done correctly.
3. "The hairline crack in the crown, as shown in the photograph, is merely the cement drying out, which is a normal occurrence in such applications. Our previous contractor also noted this during their inspection, and it does not compromise the integrity of the crown or the safety of the chimney at this stage."
To properly recrown a chimney, the old material needs to be removed, and a form built, and new material poured. This was not done. There are leaks into the house.
4. "Regarding the liner damage you mentioned, stainless steel chimney liners are designed to withstand high temperatures and are double walled for insulation. Damage such as kinks or tears, if observed, would be inconsistent with the products typical durability. We stand behind the quality of our work and materials used."
A double-walled insulated liner was NOT used. This evident in the photos. A simple 6" corrugated stainless-steel pipe, uninsulated, was used. I have remnant left from the job and multiple inspectors looked at it and said it was not code complaint. Furthermore, and insulated pipe would have been larger in diameter and required removal of flue tiles for installation. This was not done.
5. "It is also true that we received your emails, but they were sent to an incorrect address multiple time. Only recently did you provide the correct contact information, which we have now received and acknowledged. We are committed to resolving your concerns and maintaining clear communication moving forward."
I sued the same email each and every time, and when the business finally responded, it was to correspondence sent to that THAT e-mail address.
6. "Lastly, we offer a warranty on all our work and would be more than happy to return and address any issues or concerns you may have. Our goal is to ensure your chimney and related components meet safety and quality standards.
I assume this means they will come out and fix their work. But, if it was not done correctly the first time, what guarantee do I have that it will be correctly done the second? I have scheduled an inspection.

On Friday April 11, 2025, Shamrock Chimney came for a chimney inspection and sweep, quoted at $49. For ~10 years, there had been no issues with my chimney, though the fireplace was not in use.Shamrock got on the roof, broke off the chimney cap, then said it would be $1350 to repair it or it would fly off. I declined, and the cap - which had been fine for a decade - flew off the next day. I have been trying to get in contact with Shamrock for two weeks; twice they said a manager would call the next day. I have received no calls. I am requesting they either fix the chimney cap or pay for a reputable company to do so. I am attaching pictures before and after their "inspection". Note, based on other reviews, this seems to be a pattern of behavior for Shamrock.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your concerns about the chimney cap.
I want to take a moment to clarify the situation regarding your chimney cap. During the inspection, we noticed that the cap was quite old and had significant rust. When components like this are removed for cleaning, there is a risk that rusted parts may not fit back as securely as they originally were.
Unfortunately, due to the age and condition of the cap, it's possible that its integrity was compromised during the removal process. We take our work seriously and aim to provide the best service possible, and I regret any frustration this situation has caused.
If you would like us to assist with the repair or discuss your options, please let us know. We appreciate your understanding as we work through this matter together.
Thank you for your patience.
