It seems this company is engaged in deceptive marketing tactics. I started a monthly plan in May. WW did not suit my needs and I decided to cancel. Only then did I find out that I'm locked into a one year agreement. I asked the representative to point out where the member ship said I'd be locked in for an entire year and I went through my email to find it. Of course its in teeny tiny script. I have to pay every month now until next May for a program that I'm not using because I clicked on what I thought was a monthly membership. It's been an awful experience from using the app and being redirected a bunch of times just to chat with an AI, to trouble with signing in with that ridiculous link. All that this company can offer is their corporate reply of "you should have read it better". If you are tricking people into buying your product, the product must not be effective. Writing the important part in tiny script is unethical. Shame on WW. Buyer Beware! WW is very shady! I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else.Business Response

On our website, one must specifically select the plan one wants. The longer duration selected, the more reduced the price is. Our cancel Terms are very clearly stated on the website. In fact, during the sign up process, there is a box that must be checked before submitting that has two short paragraphs and in bold it states While you may cancel your subscription at any time, cancellation will not go into effect until the end of your Commitment Plan. After submitting, the next screen says Welcome to the Community and under Order Confirmation it shows again that same paragraph with the canceling message in bold. And yet again, it is in the sign up receipt email.

Complaint Details:I am filing this complaint because Weight Watchers charged my account in July 2025, despite the fact that I canceled my membership in June 2025.I have documentation proving that my membership was canceled, and the app confirmed my cancellation with the message:> Your membership has been canceled. You can continue using your account until June 27, 2026.Despite this, Weight Watchers processed a charge after cancellation, which is unauthorized and unacceptable. When I attempted to reach out to their chat support, I was told that refund requests could not be processed at that time, and that I had to wait for live coaches to be available which are only accessible during weekday hours. There is no after-hours escalation or proper customer service for billing disputes, leaving customers without recourse on weekends.I am requesting a full refund for the July charge, and assurance that no future charges will be made.If this is not resolved promptly, I will pursue further legal escalation under unauthorized billing practices and deceptive business conduct.Business Response

There are several subscription durations available, with longer plans offering the best value. The member has signed up for a 12 month membership. Before activating a membership, a short summary outlining the payment plan and cancellation policy is displayed (multi-month plans may only be canceled for the end of the plan). Below this summary, there is a mandatory checkbox confirming agreement with these terms. The membership activation is contingent upon this box being checked.
The charges are the subscription fee, which will occur monthly through the duration of the long-term commitment period (6/27/2026). The cancellation request has been submitted, and the membership will terminate at the end of the commitment period.Sincerely,

On 4/26/25 I signed up for WW clinic for a GLP. When I asked about costs for tirzepatide they only had a very expensive option. I have a cancellation email on 5/1/25 after the clinician got back to me with prices. Still they have continued to charge me $74/mo for a year even though I cancelled right away and didnt order even one time due to the cost. Their site is very misleading for the costs and Im beyond frustrated. I rarely take the time for complaints but this has been one of the most misleading and unfriendly customer service that Ive encountered.Business Response

The approximate cost of the medications is listed on our website. We're sorry the member missed that. Our WW Clinic memberships have more to offer than just GLP-1 prescriptions, and not getting these prescriptions is not a valid reason for us to terminate a commitment plan early. We can confirm the membership will be terminated at the end of the commitment period.Sincerely,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:The information on the costs of the GLP1s was not easily found on the site when I signed up. I tried multiple times looking for the costs and even asked the clinician right away, including telling them I would not be able to use the service with the costs they outlined when they did finally respond. The clinician when I told them I wouldnt be using the service did not tell me I was still within the short window to cancel, and WW should have been clear about that and allow me to cancel. The monthly membership fee I am being billed is for those that want access to the GLP1s-its $74/mo, which is not even including the medicine. It is not $74/mo or more for the regular access to their site I would understand a bit more if I had ordered GLP1s through them but I never did because their prices were too high for the one that doesnt give terrible side effects. The standard response WW sent to my complaint is not okay. There is a reason why there are multiple complaints about this company for the same reason. *** never sent in a formal complaint about any business but WW is clearly taking advantage of customers with this program and its unwillingness to work with customers that are unsatisfied. In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

The cost of the GLP-1 medication can vary widely per member based on various factors. It is a separate fee from the membership fee. Unfortunately, the cost of GLP-1 prescriptions is not a valid reason for early membership termination. Our Clinic memberships have more to offer than just GLP-1 prescriptions. We understand the member's feedback regarding their experience, and we can confirm that the membership will be terminated at the end of the commitment period.
While we understand the members frustration, the membership terms were agreed to. Prior to activating a membership, a short summary outlining the payment plan and cancellation policy is displayed, with key details emphasized in bold. The state laws governing "cooling off periods," which allow for termination, in some states, within a short time period after subscription sign up, only apply to a certain specific subset of subscription services and do not apply to medical services.Sincerely,

I am unwillingly being charged a monthly premium for membership in Weight Watchers. I just became aware of this Monday. I initiated contact with WW, where I was chatting with a virtual ********** this was unsuccessful I was connected with a coach who was also unable to resolve my complaint. The chat ended with the coach virtually hanging up on **** asked for proof that I agreed to or signed up for this plan starting in May 2025. as I did not agree or signed up for any such ridiculous monthly premium.I have confirmation fromWW acknowledging my previous plan would be cancelled April 23, 2025 on October 21, 2024..They started billing me $15.00 a month in May 2025. They advised me I would have had to agree to the new plan starting in May 2025. They then advised me that I would have received a confirmation from them saying I agreed to this new plan, but AGAIN could not show me proof of this confirmation they supposedly sent. I checked my email, including my trash and archived messages and there is no confirmation they said I would have received from them that I signed up for the plan I am being billed for.I have saved a copy of the transcript between the virtual assistant and this coach.I will not let this go until I have a satisfactory outcome, which would be to cease the monthly chRge from my credit cardBusiness Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I still contend that I did not sign up or agree to a WW plan. They advise that I would have had to tick a box, but cant provide proof of this, nor can they provide the proof that they sent me an email confirming. I received no such email and have checked my inbox, my trash, my spam and my archived messages. I believe this to be a rather underhanded attempt to corral people into paying for something they did not sign up for. This is a scam.

I signed up for WW Clinic under the impression that I was enrolling in a standard monthly subscription. At no point during the sign-up process was it clearly communicated that I was entering into a long-term contract that would extend until mid-2026.I have not used any services from the clinic I have not messaged a provider, scheduled an appointment, received medical advice, or filled any prescriptions. When I contacted their support team to cancel and request a refund, they denied my request and informed me that early cancellation is not allowed due to the long-term nature of the plan. They also stated they would not respond to any further emails on this issue.Additionally, I have an email confirmation that my standard WeightWatchers (WW) membership was canceled, which added to my belief that all related services, including WW Clinic, were terminated. This makes the $74 charge feel even more misleading and unexpected.I believe the companys practices are unclear and deceptive, especially since I have not used the service at all. I should not be locked into a long-term financial obligation for a medical service I have never accessed.Desired Resolution: Full refund of the $74 charge and immediate cancellation of the WW Clinic plan.Supporting Documents: I can provide the WW membership cancellation email and the WW Clinic support denial response upon request.Business Response

I signed up for WW through a phone call with a customer service agent, and at no point was I informed I was committing to a 12-month contract. Had this been disclosed, I would not have agreed. After learning of the unexpected 12-month commitment, I immediately contacted WW to cancel.I was told I could downgrade to a 3-month plan, but after following their instructions to escalate via email, I was denied both cancellation and the option to switch to a 3-month plan. WW representatives have been inconsistent in their responses and unwilling to offer a fair resolution despite multiple attempts on my part.I feel I was misled at the point of sale and have exhausted all attempts to resolve this directly. I am now filing this complaint due to misrepresentation and refusal to honor a fair cancellation policy.Desired Resolution:I am requesting that WW cancel my membership immediately with no further charges or, at minimum, switch my plan to the 3-month term as originally offered to me during my cancellation attempts.Business Response

After reviewing the member's past communications, we found that on February 20, 2025, she chatted with a live agent as she was concerned that she was paying standard pricing. During this conversation, the agent offered to switch her membership to a 12-month commitment plan at the reduced price of $11.00. The member had a few questions about the plan, which the agent answered, and she then agreed to the switch.
Upon completion of the switch, the member received a system-generated email confirmation, which our records show was opened. At that time, the member also received a refund for the last charge at the standard price.Sincerely,

Id reached out to Weight Watchers to see if I might be eligible to purchase GLP-1meds from them. They said yes after I completed an assessment. They failed to disclose the membership didnt include the medication, only that theyd work with my insurance. Id advised them prior to joining, as a non-diabetic, my insurance plan would not cover any of these type meds. After they misled me, and provided zero meds/services, i requested my membership be canceled, and a refund. Several calls/correspondence sent later, they still refused, saying Id be obligated to a one yr contract, ending in March 2026. Theyve continued to debit my acct monthly, to the tune of $786.52.Business Response

I signed up for a Weight Watchers membership on March 27, 2025 and canceled just hours after signing up. Despite this immediate cancellation, I have continued to be charged ********** of today, I have been charged a total of $279. I called customer service on May 5, 2025, after the second unauthorized charge hit my account. During the call, I clearly requested a full refund and confirmation of my cancellation. I was assured it would be taken care of.However, the charges have continued, and I have received no refund or written confirmation of cancellation. This situation is extremely frustrating and unacceptable. I have done my part in canceling promptly, communicating clearly, and following up. Yet, the company has failed to resolve the issue and continues to take money from my account. This appears to be a pattern of unethical billing practices and a lack of accountability in handling cancellations. I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I need to be extremely clear: You are asking me to continue paying $74 per month for 12 monthstotaling nearly $900for a service I canceled within hours of signing up and have never used. How is that ethical?
This is not simply a matter of policyits a matter of fairness and integrity. I canceled my account immediately. I submitted a refund request, and that request was ignored. Instead, Ive continued to be charged for a service I never accessed, and now Im being told Im locked into a year-long financial obligation?
Let me be honest: I cannot afford to hand over $74 per month for a service that provides me with nothing in return. I didnt receive any real benefit, support, or carejust recurring charges and canned replies.
If your company is collecting money for services never rendered, thats not customer serviceits exploitation disguised as policy.
I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I will be escalating this through my credit card company and consumer protection agencies. This includes the ************************ and my state attorney general. I will also explore filing a chargeback for all unauthorized charges incurred after my cancellation in March.
This situation deserves more than a scripted, dismissive response. It deserves a fair review and an ethical resolution. I am asking once again for:
A full refund of all charges after cancellation
Immediate termination of my account
Written confirmation that no further charges will be made
I hope your company chooses to resolve this fairly, before more formal steps are required. In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:The company continues to dodge accountability and refuses to acknowledge the unethical nature of charging a customer $74/month for a full year$888 totalfor a service that was canceled within hours of signup and never used.
They now claim that:
Financial hardship is not a reason for early termination
State cooling off laws dont apply to their service
A checkbox at signup constitutes binding, long-term consent, even if cancellation occurs immediately
This is an unacceptable and predatory business practice. Their terms are intentionally confusing, their signup process is misleading, and their customer service offers no flexibility or fairness, even when a customer acts promptly and in good faith.
This is not a simple policy dispute. This is a matter of ethics and legality:
I canceled within hours of signup (March 27, 2025)
I was told my account would be handled (call made May 5, 2025)
I have been charged $279 to date, with more charges pending
I have never used the service
I have received nothing of value
If a company charges a consumer for a year of unused medical services with no recourse or refund processeven after immediate cancellationthat is not just bad customer service, it is potentially unlawful and exploitative.
I am proceeding with the following actions:
Filing a chargeback for all charges since March 27
Submitting complaints to the ************************ (***)
Contacting the *********************************** (or appropriate state, if outside **)
Leaving public reviews to warn other consumers
Requested Resolution (remains unchanged):
Full refund of all charges to date
Immediate cancellation of all future billing
Written confirmation of account closure
This company should not be permitted to operate with such inflexible, anti-consumer policies that punish customers for acting responsibly and in good faith. Their behavior reflects a disregard for ethical standards and fair business practices.
