Skillshare charged me for an annual renewal I did not authorize or intend. I had previously contacted them in 2024 regarding an unwanted renewal, and at that time I was told the account would be canceled after agreeing to a partial refund. I believed the subscription was canceled going forward.However, on July 23, 2025, I was unexpectedly charged again for another annual renewal. I received no advance notice or renewal reminder, and the account has not been used. I immediately contacted Skillshare to request a refund, but the company has not responded to my follow-up messages, and they initially offered only a gift card instead of a refundwhich I do not want, as I have no intention of using the service further.Their own support *** acknowledged the subscription had previously been canceled in ************************************* August 2024something I do not recall doing, nor did I receive confirmation of that action.This is an example of a recurring charge model that lacks transparency, and I am now being charged for another full year of service I neither use nor want. Their failure to notify me of the renewal, coupled with a lack of timely customer support, has left me with no choice but to file this complaint.Resolution Sought:I am requesting a full refund of the annual renewal charged on July 23, 2025, and for the account to be fully closed to prevent any future billing.Customer Answer

I signed up for a year membership to Skillshare. They renewed my subscription without sending me notice, per their policy. I searched all of my emails and found no notice. I did some research and found this is happening to many customers. I have contacted them 2 times before today with no response, and sent a third email today. I was charged $119.19 by Skillshare for an automatic renewal on July 14, 2025, without receiving any advance notice or warning. I did not authorize this charge and had no intention to renew the subscription. I have not used the platform at all in the past ******* 2024, I was charged $99 under similar circumstances and reached out multiple times to request a refund and help cancel the subscription. Despite repeated emails, Skillshare denied my request and never followed through on canceling my auto-renewal. Now, a year later, Ive been charged again for a service Ive neither used nor consented to renew.I am in a serious financial crisis and simply cannot afford this charge. Skillshares failure to provide adequate renewal notice, despite my previous outreach and clear intention not to continue, is misleading and unfair. Many other customers have reported similar experiences on BBB and Trustpilot, describing deceptive billing and difficulties obtaining refunds or canceling subscriptions.I am requesting a full refund of $119.19 and confirmation that my account is fully canceled and will never be charged again.Customer Answer

On June 2nd I was in a motivated mood to learn and signed up for a 31 day trial, but life prevented me from ever using this service. The reminder email that was promised 7 days ago was never received. I can't afford a membership, so seeing the charge appear without warning on July 3rd was a shock. If the service was more upfront I wouldnt have a problem, but trying to sneak charges past people with contemptible refund policies is the **** of a scam. I hope the intention of this business is to help people like they claim, and that I'll be able to come to a solution. But I will have to go to my bank to avoid this, and I suggest anyone else steers clear of signing up for any free trials with this sneaky company.Initial Complaint

Date of Transaction: May 31, 2025 Amount Charged: $227.88.00 CAD (Skillshare annual membership)What the Business Committed to Provide: Skillshare offered a 1-month free trial of its online learning platform. At the end of the trial, it would begin charging for an annual membership unless the trial was canceled.Nature of the Dispute: I signed up for a free trial on Skillshare and believed I had canceled before the trial ended. Their cancellation process is very misleading asking the same question in different ways multiple times, which ultimately deceived me into believing I had finally cancelled my subscription during my free trial but it was not successful. I was charged for an annual membership on the last day of the free trial. I had not used the platform a single time since signing up for the trial and did not intend to continue my subscription. Upon seeing the charge, I immediately contacted customer service requesting a *************** Response: Skillshare continuously declined to issue a refund after many back-and-forth emails, citing its no-refund policy over and over in very obviously scripted messages. Despite explaining that I cannot financially handle this charge and had not used the service and that the charge was unintentional, they only offered a 12-month gift card as a one-time courtesy. I do not wish to continue using the platform and am requesting a full refund, not store credit.Advertising/Expectations: The service was advertised as a risk-free trial, but the misleading cancellation process, lack of a clear cancellation reminder, and strict no-refund stance feels deceptive and inconsistent with the spirit of a free trial.Resolution Sought: I am seeking a full refund of the $227.88 CAD charged to my card for a service I did not knowingly renew or use.Initial Complaint

I am filing a complaint against Skillshare for processing an unauthorized renewal charge on a card that expired over two years ago, then refusing to issue a refund.On 05/28/25, Skillshare charged my account for an annual subscription using an expired card. I later found an email in my spam folder stating the payment initially failed and asking me to update my info, yet the charge still went through. I had not used the platform during the previous term and had no intention of renewing. I contacted Skillshare the same day the charge occurred and requested a refund.They denied the refund and instead offered a 12-month gift card or four 3-month gift cards, even after I made it clear I do not plan to use the service again. My husband signed up for a trial period from ************************** in May 2024, watched a 51 minute video, the trial charged as a subscription in May 2024 and then without any reminder, auto renew 5/20/25. My account was auto renewed right after the trial ends in 2024. I immediately attempted to cancel it in 2024. To my surprise, it was automatically renewed again yesterday for $129 on 2025-05-15. I had zero usage in these two years, and informed them within one day after the payment that I need to cancel it, yet I was still denied refund. Im filing this complaint because Skillshare charged me nearly $200 for an annual subscription I didnt authorize. I originally signed up for a free trial and never used the service after that. I hadnt logged in since, and then out of nowhere, I got hit with this charge. I tried to cancel beforehand, but the process was confusing and hard to find. By the time the cancellation finally went through, I was told I wasnt eligible for a refund.This charge was completely unexpected and unfair I wasnt actively using the service, didnt get any heads-up about the renewal, and definitely didnt intend to keep the subscription going. *** reached out to their customer service but havent gotten any real help.
