      I am filing a complaint against Hungryroot due to misleading billing practices, poor customer service, and unauthorized charges.I rejoined Hungryroot earlier this year and noticed significant negative changes in their business model. The service operates on a credit system, requiring customers to prepay for a set number of credits weekly. However, key policies are unclear, leading to unintended charges.For my first order, I selected meals before the deadline, but because I didnt manually hit save, the system reverted to automated selections. This was not clearly communicated, and I received meals I didnt want. While I took responsibility, the lack of an auto-save feature in 2025 is unacceptable.The biggest issue arose when I intentionally placed a smaller order (about 25 credits) to reduce my weekly expense. Despite this, I was still charged the full $108 for 46 credits, with the unused 21 credits marked as rollover credits. At no point was it made clear that I would be charged the full amount regardless of how many credits I used. When I contacted customer service, it took days to get a response, and they refused to refund me, forcing me to use extra credits in a future order.While waiting for a resolution, I missed the deadline to ************ and I was charged another $108 for meals I didnt choose. Worse, when I tried to cancel my account, I was informed I would lose my paid-for rollover credits, meaning Id forfeit money I never intended to spend.This policy is hidden in fine print, not explained upfront, and was not in place when I used Hungryroot in the past. Additionally, food quality has declined, portion sizes are misleading, and customer service is unresponsive.Requested:- A refund for the 21 unused credits and the most recent $108 charge.- Greater transparency in billing and rollover credit policies.Hungryroots deceptive practices force customers into unnecessary charges, and I request BBBs assistance in holding them accountable.

      I received my first order. Now I want to cancel my subscription for the portions are too small. I purchased 4 servings, these meals only fed 2. I tried to cancel on their website on a safari and chrome browser, it just had the 3 dots bouncing forever never completing the process. Went to app on phone and got exact same response. This is very scammy to not allow us to cancel our subscription. I did send an email to support but they take forever to get back. I skipped what I could on future deliveries but this is very shady business.

      I have registered with Hungryroot meal service to check out their menus. The next thing I know is they have loaded up $70+ dollars weekly meal delivery without my consent. I have tried all day to cancel this subscription. There is no option to cancel and my credit card has been charged. I have had to report my card stolen because you can only talk to a chat box which is not helpful at all. I actually think this company is only computer generated and they dont acknowledge a resolution to your problem. I have also deleted the items in the cart at least12 times today and the items keep showing up back in the cart. This company is scamming elderly people and I dont appreciate it. **************** grade is definitely a fail.

      We received 8 different messages from this customer on February 19th. We responded on February 20th and canceled the subscription. We also issued a full refund in the amount of $74.94. When signing up, you'll be prompted to choose your plan and enter your card information making it clear that we'll charge for the first box.

      Hungryroot, *** continued shipments after service was cancelled. Another shipment from Hungryroot was received today 2/19/2025. Tracking # listed below.There is no live customer service agent at the phone number listed in their website. All communication is robotic. No reply to my message was received.

      The customer reached out on February 17th to cancel their subscription. We canceled it for them on February 20th. Their last order finalized on February 13th, before they reached out, and we were unable to cancel that shipment. As the subscription has been canceled, no further charges will be made and no further boxes will be sent.

      Attempted to talk to Hungryroots customer service (human) after making a meal using the ingredients they sent to me. My intent was to express my frustration over the selection of ingredients and meal plan. Unfortunately Hungryroot uses artificial intelligence to communicate with their customers.  It could not adequately address my concerns. My next step was to cancel the next shipment using their website tools. After several hours returned to their website. It indicated that my next shipment was reinstated. Three shipments were sent and received. After numerous attempts to cancel led me to review the BBB information about Hungryroot. The large number of complaints filed with the BBB was a catalyst for filling my complaint. The items shipped to me are being stored in; room temperature, refrigerated, and frozen environments. They did not address refunding the payments received.

While our ticketing system utilizes artificial intelligence, inquiries are forwarded to our ************* team. We received messages on the 13th and the 17th, and our agents replied. The first outreach we received only contained one word, so the agent prompted a follow-up to assist further, but there was no reply. The second was a cancellation request and the agent replied with a confirmation and cancelled the subscription. We're sorry if these replies weren't seen. They may have been filtered into spam. We've fully refunded the second and third orders to the card on file. Refunds can take 5-10 business days from the date of issue to process, and we recommend checking in with the bank or credit issuer to verify receipt. We appreciate your understanding.

      The company charged me without any warning I was going to be charged for just looking at food options They did refund 1x *****, but then charged me again for ***** **************** is done through text and representative very rude

      We can confirm that the original charge was made on February 15th. This was then refunded on February 18th and the subscription was canceled on the same day. Looking into our payment processing system, we can confirm only one charge of $91.12 was made to the card ending **** and this was refunded. We also looked into any other transactions with the card ending in ****, and we are only able to locate the refunded charged of $91.12.

      For any other charges, we'd be happy to investigate this. To do so, we'll need the full charge amount, last four digits of the card charged and the date of the charge.

      2/16/2025 Placed an order today with hungryroot, They stated change or cancel anytime. Attempted to cancel order and subscription but are charging my credit card. There is no business phone number available. Can only send texts and iam getting no response. Iam not authorizing this payment. Website clearly states changes or cancellation must be done before 7pm on 2/17/2025.

      02/12/2025 I made the decision to give Hungryroot a try. I bought more groceries than actual meals. I wanted to add something else, but couldnt gain access to my account. So I simply decided to reset password. I entered my email address and got a link to click (presumably) to take you to a reset page. But no, that is not what happened I was taken back to the same input email address page again Id just filled out, my email address already loaded. Its a vicious circle. The same reset email I got says if you need more help click here. That too takes you back to the same input email.. and there is no way to reset.Not a problem contact the company from my welcome email. That does allow me to tell them exactly what Ive written here. I get an automated response that while we wait please reply with the email address connected to your account. I replied and Ive waited and waited and waited. Nothing. Today is 02/15/2025 and still nothing. We are long past being able to add anything to the order. To top it off I no longer want to do business with a company that can NOT even get a password reset correct, let alone go days with zero support, while they charge my card. Is this going to require a card replacement to end this nightmare, since clearly this company isnt interested?

      On January 17th/18th, I ordered from Hungryroot since this was the only way to see their options. After seeing their selection, I sent a request to cancel the order and my subscription. You can only reach out to them through text or email, I received a message that it could take up to 72hrs for a response. I followed up 72hrs later and then had to follow-up several more times before receiving a response on the 24th. They confirmed they would cancel and issue a refund (could take up to 10 business days later). So on February 7th, 10 business days later I had not received my refund so I followed up again and received the same 72hr message. I waited until the 13th to see if they would respond and still nothing from them. Reference my complaint #*******

      *********** meal provider asks for payment before showing meal options. I assumed it would be easy to cancel the payment if I didnt like the meal options. After reviewing the meals I realized they didnt have what I was looking for, so I looked for a refund option; there wasnt one. Then I reached out via their customer service form, twice within a week, but there was no response other than an email saying Be patient, were more popular than we thought wed be.Within four days I was notified that a meal would be delivered on Saturday, 15 Feb, though I hadnt chosen or ordered one. Eight days since I first contacted **************** and they still havent replied to help.

      I've been trying to contact Hungryroot for weeks due to late deliveries, no deliveries at all and sudden drop in quality/damage of products. Are they out of business? I think the customers deserve to know whats going on, my last 2 boxes were damaged and days late, this box didnt arrive at all and the tracking info vanished. All I get is an automated response when I try and use the email or chat contact info for them, stating that it may take up to 72 hours to get back to me. They haven't gotten back to me for weeks. Something obviously happened, or some big changes were made on their end. It would be nice to know what's happening as a customer. They should've sent out an email weeks ago to everyone stating what was going on.
