Initial contract for debt settlement for the monthly withdrawal of $924.00 I called to cancel after job loss (April 2023) and the representative convinced me to leave the account open. I explicitly told them over a recorded line NOT to withdraw and funds without my consent hereafter that phone conversation (date unknown Apr/May 2023). They withdrew the last of the money in my account on 9/30/2023. This was to be used in getting to my new job. I called on Sat 9/30/2023 to resolve and try and get a return of the money to no avail. Was told to call back during business hours.Business Response

I signed a contract with Gitmeid when I had signed up with ******************** on August 14, 2023. I sent an email on August 15, **** to Gitmeid stating that I wish to have the contract terminated. ******************** is still proceeding with my account despite sending ******************** a Notice of Cancellation as well and so it stands reason to believe so is Gitmeid. As no money has been exchanged as of yet and I do not expect any work to have been done in a less than 48 hour window, I want confirmation that my contract is terminated with Gitmeid and that I will not owe anything as no services were rendered. Im incredibly concerned that they will start to act on my behalf and incur expenses when I have already submitted the request. By speaking to them via BBB I know that I will get the resolution I requireBusiness Response

I spoke to a representative before my last settlement was due to find out if I missed the settlement what would happen and what other money I would owe. They stated NOTHING additional was owed and I just need to finish paying the $2,700 and some change due to the creditor and I would be finished with the program. Now I missed the settlement because based on the customer service previous response they made it sound like I had options and time so I would not have to borrow money and not pay other bills to make the payment happen. Now I am being told that I still owe them $600 in fees that were never listed anywhere or told to me by anyone. On top of that I am being told that I have to pay my creditor's balance in full before they will even contact them to renegotiate. They have already been paid to negotiate this account in full and are telling me I have no options and they will not negotiate without the full creditor amount. This was not what I agreed to in our original contract.Business Response

I was desperate to get out of debt. Gitmead law offered resolution. They told me to stop paying my credit cards and would start an escrow account to settle the accounts. Well, this practice destroyed my life. My credit score dropped to poor, I had outstanding no payments for months. I got sued twice. I was forced to file bankruptcy. Turns out, ******* took out a loan in my name. They listed their office number as my place of residence, when its actually an office. This loan is also on non-payment status. In essence, Gitmead has some shady practices and are actively ruing peoples lives. A simple ****** search turned up numerous stories similar to mine.Business Response

I REACHED OUT FOR DEBT CONSILADATION MID FEBRUARY. THE EXPLAINATION OF HOW THE ** WORKED AND WHAT HAPPEND WERE NOT THE SAME. I CALLED TO CANCEL ON 03.10.23. I ASKED FOR MY FUNDS TO RETURNED TO ME. NOW THEY HAVE DONE ABSOUTLEY NOTHING WITH MY ACCOUNTS AS THIS WAS MY FIRST DEPOSIT. I WAS INFORMED THAT $18 AND $9.95, would be deducted because I signed ** in the month of February. Fine. I was told the funds would be return 03.15.2023. Guess what no return of funds. I was talked to rudely by the representative on the phone. I asked for a supervisor and was left on hold for over 30 minutes when I hung up.Customer Answer

I set up with this company back in July. They told me that they were going to settle my dad for me. So far out of 12 collectors they have only settled two. Theyve only charged me three total payments and they charged me $570 a month since July. They have made 2 $240 payments and one $25 payment to the settlements and I somehow only have $900 left in my account. They charged me to settlement fees totaling $2100 plus and neither of those settlement fees were listed in the settlement summary. I want to cancel my account and get a lawyer and file bankruptcy. They are saying that since they started making payments, they will not refund my money. However, like I said, they have only made three total payments since July, which only totaled less than $500. This company is a scam and I cant believe that theyre getting away with us and taking on vulnerable people and robbing them of their money. I will be getting a lawyer. never answer emails and when you get through on the phone they do not speak or understand English appropriately. I have told him I wanted to cancel several times, including before they started making payments. And they are not canceling my account. I have called my bank and stopped payments, but I want my money back so I can get a lawyer.Business Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:[Your Answer Here]
They did respond yes, but only AFTER I told them I reported them you the BBB, reviewed the documents they sent showing charges they did not inform me of that I did not agree too, reported them to the bar association AND threatened to retain my own lawyer. Than they refused to give me all my money back until I AGAIN provided more documentation and retained a lawyer of my own to ****** charges on them. It has been a total nightmare. I hope no one uses them again.

Dear Better Business Bureau,
Thank you for allowing our office the opportunity to carefully investigate and properly address ******************** matter. Importantly, we appreciate the opportunity to respond to her correspondence as it contained some inaccuracies that require clarification and correction.
As a brief background, ****************** initially hired our law firm to resolve 9 creditor-related matters for her. Her client agreement carefully explained how our legal fee would be earned, and that no fee would be earned unless a matter was resolved with her approval. Also, because ****************** engaged our law firm for numerous matters, it was explained that our representation would be relatively long and may take 4 years to complete this time estimate was stated in her client agreement as well. However, ****************** terminated our engagement after only 8 months. As she stated in her correspondence, our office already resolved two of her matters by that time, which were her largest creditors. Specifically, we successfully lowered her debt obligations by more than $7,000.00, effectively reducing them by half. ****************** expressly approved these settlements and began making payments to the creditors; accordingly, our legal fees for the two matters were duly earned.
****************** also mentions that she previously wanted to cancel, before payments to the above-two creditors began this is correct. She did previously state her desire to terminate our representation, but she quickly reversed her decision and e-mailed our office with clear instructions to continue working on her matters its important to note that no legal fees were yet charged at that time. Upon receiving her new instructions to continue, our office continued and quickly resolved the two matters described above. However, after making a few creditor payments, ****************** abruptly terminated our services again. One of our managing attorneys contacted ****************** to walk her through the termination process, to answer any questions, and to provide her with all necessary information regarding her two settlement agreements, so as to preserve the substantial savings they conferred. Despite those positive results, ****************** responded that she was dissatisfied with our representation and demanded a full refund of our duly-earned fees.
Respectfully, considering the substantial amount of work performed, the results achieved, and that all of ******************** prior instructions had been followed, we felt that a full refund was not appropriate. The managing attorney continued to communicate closely with ****************** and devoted a substantial amount of time in finding a resolution that was reasonable under the circumstances. Regardless of our efforts, ****************** refused to engage in further discussions and insisted that she receive a full refund. She effectively rejected our communications and our numerous attempts at resolution.
Needless to say, we strongly disagree with ******************** characterization of our law firm and the significant work we performed for her. We ultimately provided an accommodation but we respectfully disagree with ******************** assessment. At this time, we believe we've expended all possible efforts at resolving this matter to her satisfaction. We, therefore, kindly request that this matter be closed as resolved. We thank ****************** for having been our client and we wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors.

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:[Your Answer Here]
They can disagree as strongly as they would like, however the 60+ other IDENTICAL complaints to mine on this website alone speak for themselves. The only reason I reversed my decision was because within an hour of me telling them that I wanted to terminate our agreement after months of no settlement offers, they just so happened to have an offer for me. It was like they were waiting for me to say something to give me the offer. So, I said OK if you have an offer go ahead. Then nothing happened again and no payments were made towards it. I told them to cancel AGAIN, they said that since they had made no payments towards the company, yet I would be given a full refund. They never processed my request to terminate. They waited until they made a $20 payment and charged me settlement fees before they processed it, therefore, stating I no longer qualified for a full refund. I also found out that once they did make the two settlements they charged me over $1000 in fees just for settling (per settlement). And that they had three more fees lined up, not to mention SEVERAL monthly fees they were charging me for them. So I had paid them almost $5000 and I only had maybe $1000 left in my bank after paying for almost a year, because they used my money to pay for settlement fees that were not discussed in the contract. I pulled the contract, reviewed it myself and contacted another lawyer. The only reason that they gave me a full refund was because I reported them to the *************** and I threaten to *** them based off of the complaints on this website, and the way that they had charged me fees that were not discussed upfront- and the fact that I had asked on SEVERAL occasions to cancel and it was NOT honored. They are scammers and I feel bad for anybody who gets caught up believing that they are not. As you can tell by the other complaints, again, which are almost identical to mine, that they do not do what they say they are going to. They did not save me any money. My credit has been damaged significantly, and over a year of my life has been wasted when I couldve filed bankruptcy and dealt with this along time ago. Do not use this company, do your research first! They would not have given me a full refund after I pulled the paperwork noticing that these fees had not been discussed ahead of time had I not gotten a separate lawyer to review the is***s at hand and filed a BAR association complaint against them, not to mention this complaint. I am now filing bankruptcy, and I am on the correct track to repaying my debt and rebuilding my credit. I do not have any of the stress that I had with this company, and it will be handled in a TIMELY manner with hardly any waiting, no games, no BS and straightforward answers and a CLEAR PLAN forward.
In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.
Sincerely,

I enrolled with Robert Gitmeid program to settle debits. My debit actual amount 16k. started with them as of March 2022, and yet they didn't negotiate or start paying me creditor until the took all their negotiating fees upfront. Also, sent them my debit information to negotiate but yet they didn't act on it, and kept collecting negotiating fees for the whole year. I called after enrolling and they took 2k fees upfront to cancel, which they advised I can cancel anytime, but when I called they advised if I cancel I will loose my money. ****, I was advised by them they would take fees when my whole debt being settled not taking it upfront and without negotiating with creditors. For the entire year they didn't pay or negoiate all my creditors and i've been left with more debt in total of 24k!! they are stealing people money, Please Help. I demand refund of all negotiating fees since I cancelled the entire program and no actions are required by Robert Gitmeid in regards to my debt.Business Response
