I have been paying this company since June 2022 totaling 3300 to help pay my credit card debit. As of today no credit card has been paid. When I noticed this I cancelled my account I was told my account was not going to be charged and they still took payment. When I called the company I was told I was going to get my money back by *****. today they refunded me only 42 dollars. This company is a scam and not ethical. They should not be in business. ********************************************************* their pocket. I would my all my money backBusiness response

I contracted with Robert Gitmead and Associates PLLC to settle my outstanding debt and communicate with my creditors to negotiate repayment terms and bring all debt to a zero balance. I understood that there would be some legal feesI have been paying $506/month for the past 7 months. To date they have settled one account in full for $314.00 and making small payments on one other negotiated account in the amount of ****** the rest of my money went to Robert Gitmead and Associates for various legal fees??????? The amount that they supposedly sVe you goes back to them in various legal fees. There were $ ******* in legal fees and only 1304 paid on my behalf. I would like a refund of at least $1000.00 back to me and I will chalk up the other ******* as a ****** learned.Business response

These people take your money and do not provide the services they promise. You have hundreds of xomolaints ***** this company. Yet nothing is done about it. This company is destroying people's lives and stealing their money at the same time. What is the point of the BBB if companies like this are allowed to operate right under their noses with no consequences? Gitmeid Law is an absolute scam.Business response

I reached out for help with my credit card debt in May 2023. This lawyer was chosen for me by a debt relief program. I have 6 creditors that are in this program. In August 2023 I received a Summons from Lendmark Associates. I emailed the documents to Gitmeid soon after. I was just notified by my employer on December 15 th that my wages are being garnished and did I know that. I told my employer no. I asked for a copy of the garnishment papers. I emailed them to Gitmeid. They were in contact with me a few times letting me know that this is high priority and they will keep me informed. Well Gitmeid told me that it is too late in the process and that ******** will not negotiate and therefore dropped them from the program. I just got my first check that has been garnished. WOW. Now how am I going to meet my monthly bills?? Gitmeid has only settled 2 of my creditors, one which monthly payments are being made to with my so called account with the money that is taken out of each paycheck. WHERE was the help when I needed it in August? I whole heartedly believe that I have made a huge mistake by entering into this program. I am so frustrated with myself for reaching out for help. Why didnt you help me? Is this going to happen with the remaining creditors? Is this going to force me into bankruptcy? Not sure why I even ask cause you obviously only look out for yourself.Business response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:[I only received one phone call regarding this matter and was told this was not handled properly and will call me with an update. It has been 12 working days and nothing has been done nor have I heard from anyone since. Needless to say, my check is still being garnished! I have lost all faith in Gitmeid Law offices. ]

I was desperate to settle about 50K in debt, my husband had death by suicide in August ************************************ November 2022 I had to hire tax attorney's for 15K due to issues with taxes related to 2021. In March 2023 I hired ******* to help resolve my debt, First they call it a savings account and you can get it whenever you want yet they don't pay interest. They failed to mention the $19 retain fee and the $9.95 fee the account get charged per month. I was told 367 twice a month and it would take approx 3 years to settle. In sept I advised the ******** offer me a settlement that I needed to reply by 10/15. I contact them 3 times each time I was told they were reviewing the docs I sent. 10/15 passed. A settlement to paypal where the original amount was **** was settled for **** plus their fee of 756 =**** less than $900. My ******** offer was $******* in 3 payments which they had me ignore. ******** sold my debt to a collector and ****** sent me an offer for **** plus their fee for about $4000. I told them I would not settle for including their fee except for ******* they didn't off to take a reduced fee to settle the debt. I have $15,500 and I put ****. 867 a month in my account and they sent me two offers one for **** on 10K debt so I'll save nothing plus the payment schedule goes out to nov ****. They had me ruin my credit. I need to know how to have them pay off the **** take their fee and give me back the rest of my money. it says they don't earn anything until they get you a settlement you agree to. This is a scam operating a debt relief. They took advantage that I was a widower and didn't know what to do having lost my husband to ********.Customer response

Thankfully it only took 5 payments to find out they were full of nothing good in 5 months out of **** they paid 600 on my creditor's and the rest was fees for this or that they paid themselves first and if I hadn't been keeping a total of what I've paid in to date then I would have paid for something I wasn't getting when we join we all understand there are fees for a service however this what's supposed to be a law firm only concern must be to pay their self first instead of negotiating a bill then pay it not negotiating then spreading that out over a ridiculous number of months that does not is what anyone signs up for your method does not help credit improve when you spread something out longer then the loam term was to begin with, your company is a rip off and the process to cancel was a hour on the phone where your agent is abusive and disrespectful, your company is a fraud, even the answers you give to the BBB are a script anyone can see that just from reading how you respond to your clients. This business needs to be criminal charged for taking advantage of people who are already struggling.Business response

I used this service believing they would actually help me resolve my debt and come to an agreement. Instead, my credit score dropped by 200 points and none of the creditors I added ever entered into a settlement agreement. They will be refunding a portion of my money, but I want a full refund because they did NOTHING during the entire time I was using their service. I am now more in debt than I was when I started using them. None of my accounts were settled with them.Business response

I heard of them thru ********* advertised would help me fix credit and help me lower debt . Supposedly settled on debt with creditor, I gave funds to pay off that debt. I am still getting bills from that creditor. Another creditor sued to take to court. I opted to pay off that bill. I have decided to stop using their service , they have **** of my money which they refuse to return to me. Have called several times requesting my money and have gotten many responses, was promised would receive in 4 days and when didnt get when I called again was told 1-2 months. I found service did nothing positive for me except stop me from paying bills which made worse. Ended up selling home and caught up most bills that way. All I am asking for is the money they have taken from meBusiness response

This company has had several instances of what they are calling communication errors. Several months ago at this point I was told my accounts were paid in full and settled and that I would be getting $2,000 back. A few days after that I went on to check to see when that might happen and all of a sudden I now owe $600 because they charged me fees that added up to over the $2,000 even though everything was supposed to be finalized. I called and they said that they were solving the problem and then my account was at zero and everything was done. Then yesterday I get another charge for $126 that overdrafted my account as part of paying them for the $600 they're saying I still owe. When I called today one of their employees went ahead and let me know that they are very upset at this happened but there's nothing they could do for me. And that they would be escalating it. So I am posting this to the better Business bureau and hopes that they will make this right.Business response

I have been working with the office since December of 2022 and have been generally satisfied with what they have done in helping me fix my death which was not manageable with my wife's death in June of 2022, so it is with great reluctance that I have to file this complaint. I called the office today 10/31/23 to ask that they not collect the auto debits in November due to a recent surgery 10/25/23 and the fact I'll be out of work for six weeks. This was handled very professionally by the agent. I then asked about the finance agreement with *************** which was established months ago to expedite the settlement because I needed to find out when they would take over. I was informed that due to a missed payment in September that agreement was cancelled. I explained that I received an email from the law office informing me of the bounced payment on 9/20/23. I responded in less than 50 minutes with the reason and since I did not hear from them thought everything was set. I had made 19 consecutive payment since the start of the agreement with the law office, missed the one in September and resumed payments to date. I was told by an agent today that because the person who reached out by email to me only works on the law side, my response was not forwarded to either the consolidation side or ***** financial. I was told the only thing I can do now is set up a new agreement and they will not try to fix the situation. I asked if it's *************** who is the issue and could I work with another company and was told no. I was hoping to get this resolved s the firm has an excellent reputation but it seems they refuse to take any responsibility for not communicating with either me or *****. I was told that robo calls were made to my phone but I don't answer calls from #'s I don't recognize but do respond if a voicemail is left.Business response
