Contacted ******** in August 2020 regarding an out of state order for 8 bridesmaids gowns for my 2021 wedding after discovering her via *********. After a few back and forth emails, I requested a phone conversation to address additional questions regarding her policies and practices from gown creation to problem resolution due to the fact that the gowns would be made out of state. The agreement was to have the gowns completed a few months prior to my then May 2021 wedding date (typically request) to ensure proper time for delivery, inspection of completed work, and a second fitting or alterations if needed. I was told that I would receive a contract, however, a contract was never sent and I take responsibility for not following up and proceeding without every detail laid out in writing ******* learned on being too trusting). Another red flag- she only accepts payment via *****. It is difficult to dispute transactions using peer-to-peer money exchange services- thus allowing her to avoid financiale liability upfront (another ****** learned). I asked her when she would like me to send in measurements and photos and she provided a deadline of Jan 2021. Being that I was requesting an order well in advance and it being communicated to me that my order was being squeezed into her schedule due to the rescheduling of her 2020 weddings due to COVID, it was understood that she would not begin on the gowns right away. I gave her space as a "professional" and waited for updates from her and checked in occasionally for a status. I was told every time all was well. Time rolls by and it's now April 2021 and my wedding was set for May 2, 2021. In April I get a fitting date (less than a month to have gowns finished, delivered, 2nd fitting, and alterations for 8 gowns...how sway???). My wedding was then postponed due to COVID (a blessing since the gowns weren't completed in a timely manner). It took 3 more months to finally receive the gowns. She never communicated a need for additional time or asked if an alternate delivery date was ok with me. She pretty much disregarded my request to have the gowns in an appropriate amount of time. Gown review- The craftsmanship was sloppy, rushed, inconsistent, and just unprofessional. The finished product was not her best work and clearly a quality check was not done. Some of the gowns had to be re-constructed in areas (this type of work is not considered typical alterations). One of the gowns had a strap that was sewn on twisted! The finishing was rushed, thread color inconsistent, zippers used were too heavy for the weight of the material, seams were broken in places and finishing stitching and lining were grossly visible. To sum it all up, her work was not clean or professional and rushed for no good reason. 5 different seamstresses from multiple states (8 bridesmaids rep 5 different states) made the same observations in their assessment of ****** craftsmanship. She does not put in the level of professionalism and quality for EVERY client she engages with. If you accept a job, you're expected to perform the job 100% no matter who the client is because everyone has a network and word of mouth is a powerful tool. I'm very disappointed with her conduct and finished product because it seemed that she understood where I was coming from and that she was on my same page when it came to professionalism and doing business. **** does not operate with integrity. She is careless, negligent, and shows a lack of concern for the quality of work she puts out which is very concerning since her name is backing her work/product! I made it a point to work with as many minority and small businesses for my wedding. Buyer beware. **** does not stand behind her work. Social media content, pictures, and video DO NOT highlight or emphasize the details and anything can be made to look better than it actually does in person.
