I paid $3000 to this company back at the beginning of last summer. I was offered 2 matches, whom I met last summer. I have been getting excuses ever since. I have talked to and left voice messages with my matchmaker ***, and the next person up in the organization, ****. All Ive gotten is were working on it and Ill talk to her and you should expect a response next week. Now when I call to ask about progress, I leave a voice messages, there is no response. Their phone numbers for customers are all from the *********, ******* area code but BBB there does not find a business by their name there. This makes it very hard to deal with them. At this point I have lost patience. If theyre not going to carry out the service Ive paid for, I am owed a refund, period. They obviously are not able to provide me with any matches, much less appropriate matches. Ive paid for a service they cannot provide. Prior to signing up for It's Just Lunch on July 8th, I was promised that there was a good amount of men in the *** area that met my qualifications. This did not turn out to be the case. I have no complaints against any of the individuals I worked with: ****** and ******* did a great job in trying to find someone that met what I was looking for.. but unfortunately none of the men who presented to me were anything near what I had described in my call with ******. (Maybe that's where the disconnect was?) In any case, that's my main issue with how this operated.. While I signed the contract, it was under the impression that what I had discussed with easily found. While I should have read the contract better before signing, (bad breakup.. that's on me) I do believe this falls under the terms of "Termination" in the attached contract (also below):"If, despite ***'s efforts, *** is unable to provide Client with the number of Dates agreed to under Client's membership within a period of thirty (30) months from the date of this Agreement, then at ***'s election and sole discretion all remaining monies will be refunded on a pro-rated basis, based upon the total number of remaining Dates (as determined by ***) out of the twenty-four (24) Dates to be provided and less a non-refundable Five Hundred Dollar ($500.00) interview processing charge and this Agreement will automatically be canceled."I can't imagine that this would cover IJL throwing any random guy at me just to avoid defaulting on this clause in their contract..I will say, I was difficult to get a hold of via phone due to work for a large portion of the time, but had requested to stick to email communication during that window.Business Response

I am not saying the men were not "quality" of a sort, I'm sure they were very nice people, but I can assure you that they did not possess the qualities that I had specified and had been told were available.
As I indicated in communication with my specialist, I have a very busy schedule and do not have time to waste on dates with people that I know are not what I'm looking for.
I requested the account be put on hold so that I would not continue to be contacted for men such as this, since it did not appear that *** was able to uphold their end of the contract. If you have since found new members that match what I had requested, I would be interested in taking a look. However, I will not be pressured into going on a date with someone who clearly is not what I had requested.

Stating "The consumer cannot speak to the quality of individuals, as she declined to meet all of them" is quite frankly an asinine double standard. Did my "matchmaker" meet the candidates in person? If the answer is "No", yet they are able to say they're a "quality candidate", I by the same token should be able to determine that they are not a "quality candidate" as pertains to myself without meeting them in person. A picture says a thousand words, and I could tell just based on some of the initial photos that the guys were not what I had requested or what had been indicated was available. I also provided feedback to my matchmaker as to why. (I don't want to violate any privacy of the other individuals by providing any specific details on here.) I never would have signed up if I had known the type of individuals that would be presented.
As I indicated in my previous message, if IJL now feels like they have the type of individuals that I had requested (and was told were available), I'll be happy to look over them. I will however, not be pressured into putting time and effort into going on a date with an individual that clearly does not meet the basic requirements that I provided. I'd just use a far cheaper option like Tinder if that was acceptable.
However, as far as I've seen, it does not appear that you're able to meet the terms of the contract. This is why I'm requesting a refund.

My husband and I have had recurring problems with *** consumers stealing our bank card information using some kind of skimmer technology. We have had at least a dozen new debit cards in the last 6 months. This company just allows anyone to use other peoples card information. Its a scary world when people are going on dates trying to find a partner on someone elses dime and there is no attempt by the company to stop it.Business Response

I joined It's Just Lunch on September 6. I was assigned to a matchmaker and told I would get 3 matches over the course of 3 months. I met with *******, my assigned matchmaker. I had a full interview with her and gave her details on who I wanted to date. The seller who had signed me up for the service had originally picked someone out for me that I wasn't keen on and she said that as this wasn't her choice as the matchmaker he wouldn't count as one of my "matches". A full month went by and I got a match on Oct 4. I went on the date even though the person selected for me wasn't within my requirements. I gave ******* feedback after the date and she said she would contact me again in a month with the next person. A month went by and I didn't hear anything from her. So on Nov 29 I emailed her. A few moments later I received a phone call from ****** It seems ******* was no longer with the company and ***** I guess received my email. She immediately had a match for me, even though I had never spoken to her before. It was someone that didn't fall within my requirements at all. And I had given ******* feedback before on why. I didn't want to date police officers. ***** then immediately rematches me with another person even further removed from what I want. I had specified multiple times that I wanted to date someone latin like me. I reached out to ***** and she said that this ***************** was one of my matches and that since I had rejected that initial guy that was not selected by my matchmaker that I had no dates left. I would have to pay another $1,000 to continue the service. She was so dismissive and rude. It felt like I was being 100% scammed. I paid $1,000 to get matches that were picked at random and no intention was put into figuring out what I had asked them. I'm extremely disappointed and want my money back.Business Response

They never contacted me to provide me with matches. I had to contact them every time and they'd come back with random matches that did not meet my requirements. I was never told that rejecting a candidate was going to count toward my matches until after I had already paid the fee. They purposely omitted details about the process in order to scam me. I provided feedback about my date to my matchmaker *******. I was never told there was another process to provide feedback. They intentionally withheld information and now are adapting the facts to their convenience. This is a scam.

The membership agreement clearly outlines how and when the services will be provided and what constitutes a date. If the consumer had questions on the agreement prior to executing it she had as much time as necessary to do so. The absence of her questions means she fully understood and accepted the terms of the program when executing the agreement. Its Just Lunch is a scheme that claims you are being set up with members, however, the loop hole in their contract is such that they set you up with any date they can find (participants), that is if they find a date. Since engaging this service in May I have been on one date. The run around, lack of communications, poor quality of the matchmakers is a waste of a busy professionals time and money. They send you pictures of men in a bathing suit and the front seat of their car like an on-line dating service and if you decline the date, you are penalized for the number of dates you signed up for. They also lose track of your matches and claim theyve put more people in front of you than is actually the case. The entire operation and customer service manager ****** is a front for unethical business practices. Its not surprising that they have had numerous lawsuits and complaints around the U.S. that unfortunately preys on innocent people simply trying to meet someone outside of their network.I contacted their CEO and Founder *********************** and ************************* with no response.Business Response

IJL regrets to learn the consumer did not enjoy her dating membership. She had a 3 month, 3 date membership agreement. IJL provided the consumer with her three dates, and she is now expired. We provided ****, who she declined to meet due to the fact he shaves his head and is bald. She accepted *******, whom she exchanged numbers with and was planning on seeing again and had a great date, and she declined to meet ***** because he was wearing shorts in his photo, and she did not feel he was a date for her from digital pixels on a page, even after the matchmaker clearly outlined why we felt the two of them would be an excellent date. Anyone that IJL presents to the consumer, accepted, or declined, that is within the general criteria and guidelines provided at the time of acceptance into the program is considered a date. This is clearly outlined in the membership agreement which was sent to the consumer prior to becoming an IJL client. She had as much time as necessary to read and ask questions. She executed the agreement which would indicate she read, understood, and agreed to the terms therein. *** has acted in good faith, provided excellent dates to the consumer, two of which she declined the opportunity to meet. We have provided the service as outlined in the membership agreement in full and the consumer is not eligible for a refund. The consumer has been put in touch with the appropriate team members whom have addressed her concerns. On 8/17- I spoke with ******* from It's Just Lunch who gave a false and inaccurate picture of the services provided by IJL. Under this false pretense, I signed up for a 24 date, one year commitment. Since signing up, I was assigned to a matchmaker "*****" who I am confident has zero qualifications to be a matchmaker. We had a 10 minute phone call and then promptly sent me "a match" despite the service promising to take your wants and needs into consideration when matching someone. I agreed to meet this match and a date was set. I got covid and promptly informed ***** in advance of 3 days of the date I would need to reschedule. I did not hear back from him. I followed up with him to confirm he received my note which he said he did and he would work on rescheduling. 10 days went by with no contact from ***** so I followed up again asking to please be assigned to another matchmaker who had more time. ***** promptly responded he was sorry and then asked when we could get on a call (that seems to be the thing with this company when you are upset so they can read you a pre-written script) 9/12 he sent an e-mail saying he was "working on rescheduling the date" 9/14 asks if Tuesday 9/19 can work and I confirm yes. Hear nothing back, get no confirmation or time or place. Monday 9/18 ***** says date needs to be rescheduled- I propose times and he says he will get back to me. Today, 9/25 I reached out asking for a refund. Get a response asking for a call- I say I would like my attorney on the call and am told this is in violation of their "confidentiality agreement" which I never signed or agreed too. This company talks about their "no refund" policy but neglects to mention that they fail to deliver services promised. ***** for a "matchmaker" who is unresponsive, a single match and no date almost 6 weeks after payment. They are defrauding people. If they won't issue a refund, I plan to pursue legal action just to make sure this doesn't happen to anyone else.Business Response

9/1/2022:I would like to request a refund of $3000 for services not rendered. I feel that the quality of customer service if lacking. When I had my intro call with ****, he was reading from a script, sent me two potentials, in which I returned the requested information and then resent the same information this week. I would like to be removed as a client. I was not made aware of the three day cancellation clause. Contract shows signed date of 8/23/22, The soonest someone contacted me was on 8/26/2022, I have all of the emails requesting a full refund of $3000, I made every attempt to collect the funds. This business is a scheme. October 16, 2022, I fled a dispute with my credit card company, after some time they declined it due to the contract they said I signed, I had not seen the contract prior to filing the dispute. I am requesting a full refund, this business is ultimately preying on the most vulnerable. I believe the days between they said I signed the contract (I sign my documents either **************** or *******************************), their staff member did not reach out to me until 8/26/2022 as part of the scheme to get past the three day cancellation.Business Response

The company offers services and dies not deliver on what is promised. I was promised 12 dates, communication with a matchmaker and results. I signed up back on 9/30/2022. Initially the communication with the salesperson was constant and quick to respond. The matchmaker assigned would only call after I complained of not being called. I went on 1 date in November and ever since then I have been ignored and have not been on another date since November of last year. I voiced my concerns with ****** and went back and forth with her about a refund. She would agree to even a partial refund. I decided to give them another chance in February and the same lack of communication, response or date availability was an issue. This company makes false promises and then refuses to provide a refund for services not used. They should not be allowed to conduct business this way. They have a guarantee on throughout their website and my experience with them is a complete breach of contract for payment exchanged for services not received and false advertisement and misrepresentation.Business Response
