    With Mother’s Day approaching, the Metro New York Better Business Bureau is warning consumers to be wary of florist and jewelry scammers that advertise on social media and mimic legitimate businesses.

    “Scammers anticipate that people will look for last-minute Mother’s Day gifts online and they can try to trick buyers with phony deals. Before you buy, check the legitimacy and reliability of the business,” said Claire Rosenzweig, President & CEO of the BBB® Serving Metropolitan New York. “See what others have reported to BBB about a florist or jeweler before you order.”

    A recent example of a company investigated by Metro New York BBB is Sarata Flowers, which has an F rating on BBB.org as of April 2024, with more than 500 complaints filed against the flower delivery company in the last 12 months. Many of the complaints claim that the company cancels orders quickly after consumers place them, and then never issues the promised refund.

    Sarata Flowers claims that their company is located on Long Island, but the posted address appears to be that of another business. Metro New York BBB’s investigation found that Sarata is using the same address and phone number as that of two other F-rated florists with similar complaints, Roger Florist and Baby Blue Florist.

    Misuse of BBB Name and/or Logo:
    This firm has misrepresented itself as a BBB Accredited Business on its websites at https://www.sarataflorist.com/ and https://www.sarataflowers.com/. On 12/15/2023, BBB requested that Sarata Florist/Sarata Flowers cease and desist all unauthorized use of the BBB trademarks, such as the Accredited Business Seal and BBB Torch Logo, on its website. THIS FIRM IS NOT CURRENTLY A BBB ACCREDITED BUSINESS with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Serving Metropolitan New York, the service area in which it is headquartered. As of 1/10/2024, the business has responded to BBB and appears to have discontinued the unauthorized use of BBB trademarks on its websites.

    Ordered flowers for a friend that was scheduled to have surgery the next day. I got an email two days later that said the flowers were undeliverable and I would have a full refund within two business days. That was the end of April, I have called the business numerous times and they always say the refund will be in my account in 2 business days which never happens. Tried calling them again yesterday but now they will not take any of my phone calls.

    I order flowers on 5/15/24 online and immediately got a email stating the flowers were not delivered and that I would receive a full refund. Contact the number that was provided and the guy said it takes 10 business days and it was 15 day past it is now 6/11/24 and still have not received a refund.
