My recent experience with another company that functions like Continental Who's Who alerted me to how the salesperson pitches to us. I already make a bad mistake elsewhere. I got a V mail from Ms. ***** that it was "imperative" that I return her call which I did b/c I'm a conscientious professional responsible in organizations and for many people. As politely as possible, I asked if I were to be paid for my appearance in their publication, and made it clear that if there were any charges or costs in this project, I would not be interested. She requested I not put the cart before the horse and answer her 10 minute interview and offer. She was respectful, and I have no complaints. Her questions were good, and she asked if I wanted contact by phone or email. I asked if she herself writes the press release for ****** and other publications, and she said the editorial staff writes it. The cost for this "Inner Circle" publication and search engine and other benefits is $989, compared to her comparison with other services for $3-4000 a month. When I asked if she would please withhold the plaque, she said she must send it. She cannot take things away from me. I have my free "vanity" ******* "Who's Who in *******" plaque. I said I would like to think further. ***** ***** said she would tell her publication or publishing department about this. It's doubtful that I'll be contacted again b/c I am not a good prospect. My past error with another company apparently made me appear as if I were a good target to pay at least $1000 for ************* Sadly, my previous press release contained many errors and misinformation, I had to spend hours re-writing it to approve it. When you pay first, you can no longer easily withdraw when you do not like the services. This is a legitimate way for a business to make money, even though it's shrewd and slick, ***. It's up to consumers to be cautious. Buyer beware ("caveat emptor") is important.

Financial predators. That is what they are. They call you first to give bogus compliments about being the best because you have been chosen by peers. All lies. Then they charge you thousands of dollars for editing a review about your career. Unprofessional editors! And then they call again on a regular basis for all sorts of charges, asking to authorize to pay thousands of dollars. They offer a useless lifetime membership of an fictive inner circle. Yes they send some plaques that you did not order. All the charges add up to tens of thousands of dollars. They are criminals and should be persecuted by the law. I hope this will happen.

Filled out an application with them based on a LinkedIn ad I saw. Everything about the ad implied this was a networking group and nothing that hinted there would be a cost. Went through a long followup call after submitting my application only to find out they basically want $1000 for membership in whatever this is. I asked if I could find out more information about the organization before I fork over that kind of money and I was told "we have so many wonderfully qualified applicants so we don't go back and forth with them" - basically implying that you pay up right away or you don't...there's no other options. Has scam written all over it. Also, the phone number they called from came up as a robocaller spam number. A little to shady for me to join up. Their sales guy even said "if you don't join right now, it's no sweat off my back, we have so many applicants it won't even matter to me." What kind of a "networking" group pitch is that? Stay away!
