I was contacted by this business saying they were a lawyers office in attempt to collect a debt from check n go. I do have loans from that company. They are also contacting my friends and family for the same thing to get to me. They need to stop.Business Response

I do not appreciate the fact that they lied and said no one spoke to me. I have call logs and a voicemail proving otherwise. It was from JW Servicing Group. I would like them to admit fault! They even harassed my niece looking for me.

After receiving multiple calls from them I called them back, telling me I owed money for cashnet, he gave me a random amount of $2900 for me to settle out of court or my wages would be garnished but when I tried to get specific info from them he got aggressive and threatened to have the county sheriff come to my home. From my understanding that goes against the fair credit act, attempting to scare and bully people into giving them money should not be tolerated.Business Response

I am continuing to receive harrassing phone calls from JW servicing group even though I have asked them to CEASE AND DESIST any further contact with me and they still continue to violate my rights according to the FDCPA. I have no outstanding debt and any previous debt was discharged during bankruptcy and is at this point time barred. I will be reporting them to the FTC, the CFBP as well as my state Attorney General.Business Response

My family is getting calls from a person named Helen W**** about a debt that I do not owe. I’ve had issues with these types of calls ever since I took out some payday loans about 8 years ago. Received a call from them stating I had received a payday loan from some company (123loan or something of that nature) and was told I had to pay something or else face judgement or wage garnishment. I cut off the agent and asked for clarification on what this was, as I have never taken payday loans before. He brought up an old account from when I was in the Navy (USAA), and I've had Navy Federal for a good while now. I asked to receive documentation verifying the debt, any contracts, correspondence, etc from the company they claim to represent, and all of a sudden he doesn't have that information. I asked, "then I'm supposed to just trust that some random company calling and trying to extort money from me is legit, and you can't even verify the legitimacy of the debt?" All of a sudden it went to "oh, we're not asking for any money, it's just for your information only" and whatever else excuse he had. So the call went from settling this debt that can't be verified to me not having to pay anything, and then something about sending certified mail. I asked them to send that to me for whatever court case they may believe I'm getting, as I've never seen 123whoever on my credit report, never got a payday loan, and have definitely not received any correspondence in the mail regarding non-payment for any accounts. He couldn't even answer when this debt happened nor had contact information for whoever company they were claiming to represent.Business Response

The call was NOT regarding me saying I wasn't paying anything, and I believe those calls are recorded if anyone would like to verify this. The complaint is I asked for verification of the debt as some random business was calling me saying I owed money and would have wages garnished and go to court. I stated I was not going to trust the words of someone random and wanted proof of this debt, which they said they don't have. I asked for the businesses contact information so I can verify the legitimacy of the debt, they said they don't have it. I told them to send whatever it is they need to send to me since the call was "just for my awareness" whatever that means, as I never received a call saying "we're garnishing your wages for a debt we can't verify", especially with no court order, to which I also have not received.If JW Servicing wants to avoid lying and do as I asked, that would be great, otherwise no contact would be fantastic and anything they need to do or say can be done by certified mail to MY mailing address, which I'm assuming they don't have because they claim I was sent something before and it wasn't delivered. I am not paying money to someone who says I owe money and assume it's not a scam. I'll be waiting verification of the debt, all signed contracts for the payday loan, and whatever else they require, as I've also not seen this "debt" on my credit report as an account nor a collection, further leading me to believe the call was a scam or due to fraud.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding unlawful debt collection practices by J.W. Services 12/11/2024 , I was contacted by representatives from this company regarding a debt they claim I owe from approximately 2012. The alleged debt is well beyond Florida’s statute of limitations for debt collection, which is five years for written contracts and four years for open accounts.
Additionally, the company could not provide an exact date for the alleged debt, raising further concerns about the validity of their claim. Despite this, they threatened to contact my employer without my consent and stated that they would serve me legal paperwork at my home, bypassing the court system.
I informed them that I do not recall having this account. Their threats and improper collection tactics are causing unnecessary distress and appear to violate the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
I am requesting that the BBB intervene to hold this company accountable for their actions and prevent further harassment. I also request written confirmation that this matter has been resolved and that no further contact will be made regarding this alleged debt.Business Response

This business has called me several times on multiple numbers telling me that I have an account with them that I need to respond to. This company is such a nuisance! They constantly call and leave messages on my cell and my boyfriend's cell. They claim that I owe an old payday loan debt, which I DO NOT. They have my old bank account information, DL #, SSN, address, and current phone #. These people are scammers of this generation. The person I talked to claimed I took out the loan in 2017 with the old bank account (I had a totally different bank account with a different bank in 2017, SCAMMER) and the last payday loan that I took out would have been in 2014 or 2015 when I still lived in a different state and was still married. They threatened to send someone to my house, to my work, and to file a suit with my local court. Funny because I've never gotten anything from them on paper. If you have my current address, where is the proof you geniuses?!! They call again or anyone associated with me, they will be getting a call from my attorney and I will file another complaint, but with the FTC. I am being harassed by a debt collection agency called JW Servicing Group (or Johnson and Whitner) calling from the following numbers: ###-###-####; ###-###-####; ###-###-####; ###-###-#### and possibly others. They provided a mailing address: ** *********** **** ** *** ****** *** ***, Buffalo, NY 14224 and website: ************************** (****************) Today (Thursday, August 8, 2024) I spoke with an individual named Helen W**** claiming that their office is trying to collect on behalf of ******** *** **** in the amount of $4677.92 and is threatening to come to my house to serve official legal documents and or come to my place of employment, however, the statute of limitations has long since passed. The case # is ********. They have my old (no longer open) checking account number and drivers license number. I would like all communication to cease as this account was already settled with another collection agency.
