      I received a check from M&T Bank part of a car wrapping advertisement. I called the M&T Bank for them to verify the check, I talked to a live person he put me on a three-way call me him and the automatic service to verify the check, I provided the account number and the number in the right hand corner of the check, the automatic service said the check was good the man on the line said Ms C***** did you hear that the check is good, so I went into my bank and deposited the check. Then someone text me and told me to **** *** $1,500 to a person named Patricia H***, when that didn't happen a guy called me and told me to go withdraw the 1500 out my bank, I text them back and told them that I wasn't doing anything until the check cleared. The check cleared M&T Bank release the money $2,250.25 into my account. My bank told me that I shouldn't send cash but to pay them with a check. That $2,250.25 set in my bank account for 3 days because I was not about to **** *** no one $1,500. The third day came, M&T Bank took that money back. My point is this, I called M&T bank, talked to a live person to verified the check, M&T Bank cleared the check and deposited the money in my account but when I didn't respond like they wanted me to through **** *** or withdraw the cash ($1,500) out of my account M&T took the money back. M&T Bank seem to be involved in the scam because I talked to a person and they verified the check and they deposit the money in my account.

      The mortgage company is worst customer service, try to make it hard for payment to be made for contractor to finish job, will put you on hold for long period of time, then need authorization for information that is needed for the contractor just trying to make it worse then want to deny documents just because a date was not on there but shows homeowner date n the same date which was uploaded n faxed.. then spoke to Shirley Pringle instead of resolving this issue and help her customer as they have been the conflict between homeowner and contractor that needs to be paid for work decides since homeowner has a problem I am scheduling an inspection I expect that but cause u don’t want to pay the contractor now they want to delay more time when the contractor hasn’t been paid over a month and trying to sue …. M&T is the worse!!!!! 1 star is given for the 2 out 10 people was helpful n tried to resolve!!

      I opened a passbook savings account with my high school son in 2009. I was the primary person on the account because he was a minor at the time. Well, we forgot about the passbook savings account and my son has graduated from college and closed his student checking account with People's over 4 years ago. At the end of July 2022 I received a letter from People's informing me that I had an account that needed to be closed before they merged with M&T. I had no idea what they were talking about since my husband and I have joint checking and savings accounts with People's and nothing more. When I went to the bank I was informed that I was the primary person on a passbook savings account with my son and if I closed it they would charge me $10 dollars for the lost passbook. I requested that fee be waived and they did. After printing the new book to close the account I saw that I was charged a $5.00 per month fee since February 2019. I was told that the policy changed and if the balance fell below $350.00 the fee was charged. I never received any letter or email from People's on this fee and I do not personally use on-line banking since my account is joint with my husband who does use the on line banking. My question to the branch manager, Aslyn in Huntington, why wasn't I notified that People's change the policy when the minimal balance changed? She said they did. I asked for a copy of the letter that was sent. She said she did not have a copy and that the information was in the original agreement when we set up the account. Why wasn't my son notified when he closed his savings and checking accounts with people? They said because he was second on the account. And, Why DID THEY TAKE 42 $5.00 payments for a total of $210 in fees from my account for over three years and never notify me that they were doing this? The manager constantly interrupted me and never sent me a copy of the original agreement that I requested on 8/15/2022. Terrible, terrible service for a bank!!!

      Tried to get a 10 day payoff on my RV loan to give to the new owners bank, new bank requires a paper/email copy, called M&T, after over an hour on hold, I finally spoke with someone who said they can't email me a copy of the statement, they would be glad to mail it to me in 3-5 days!
      It's 2022 folks, if you cant email a pdf statement to me, your bank doesnt deserve my business, not to mention the lengthy wait time to speak with anyone! Automated system is a joke, it asks for your account number, but won't accept anything you input. What a horrible customer service exepience, glad I'm closing my account!!!!

      I have banked with M and T for years. My husband and I have 3 separate accounts because we use them for personal and business banking. I have also used mobile banking to make deposits and check account activity. I do this regularly because I had someone make a mobile deposit for $1,000.00 for a check that I had written and it was taken out of my account. Then a couple months later the check was accidentally resubmitted and another $1,000.00 was taken out. When I realized it, the person who cashed the check reimbursed me. So I now check my account regularly. But for some reason, I can no longer access my online account. I have made 3 phone calls with customer service and have had no luck. The one customer service rep was incredibly rude and basically said it must be something I am doing wrong and if I would just type the password correctly it would work. So I gave up. The following day I spoke to another representative who was more helpful, I finally got in, but when I tried to log in again I was locked out. She acknowledged that there is some glitch. So I have spent hours on the phone and have gotten nowhere. Now I am going to close all my accounts as soon as I change all my direct deposits and automatic withdrawals.

      Absolutely horrible bank. For over a year, checks, processed through the bank's online bill payment service, to some of our payees have been delivered with 2-4 weeks delay!
      The ebill payment call center said it is the mail carrier. When I proved that it is not the mail carrier (I hand mailed letters and processed online payments from another bank to the same payee with 5 days delivery), they started to say that its their third party processing company. The local branch, even the leadership say "there is nothing they can do". It's their third party payment processing company. They are mishandling our money. Do not bank with this bank.

      Threes Strikes and M&T Bank is Out
      The Peoples Bank transition to M&T Bank is a total failure and that is why we will be switching both our company accounts nd credit cards to a local bank!
      We have enough to deal with, but having to overcome M&T bank is not worth the effort.
      Strike 1 - requested a check cashing machine with no response. Guess they don't care.
      Strike 2 - transferring the employee health savings accounts has been slow and painful.
      Strike three - received new credit cards, activated them, traveled out of the country only t0 receive a call that they will not be active for a couple of more weeks.
      M&T Bank is out and we will be moving banks as soon as I get back to my office in Connecticut!
