    Pattern of Complaint:

BBB files indicate a pattern of complaints concerning this company's sales tactics, telemarketing and billing practices. Consumers are telling BBB about several issues they experience when dealing with sales representatives from PalmCo. Some of the issues reported to BBB about Palmco's sales personnel: misleading representations of future reductions in energy utility bills from signing up with PalmCo that aren't realized or, in many cases, significantly increased from previous providers and deceptive sales practices in unauthorized changing of the current utility provider to PalmCo/INDRA. Other reported issues stem from consumers claiming they have made repeated requests to PalmCo to remove them from their calling lists but the company doesn't honor those requests.

PUCO Adopts Settlement Agreement Regarding the Marketing Practices of PALMco d/b/a Indra Energy

The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

On 10/20/2021, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) adopted a settlement agreement requiring refunds of overcharges to customers of PALMco Energy OH, LLC and PALMco Power OH, LLC, which are retail energy providers doing business as Indra Energy. The companies will also waive any outstanding unpaid bills.

Under the terms of the agreement, PALMco will refund customers whose rates increased by more than 50% from August – December 2019, totaling more than $215,000. PALMco will also waive uncollected bills of approximately $832,000. Any remaining balances after PALMco issues refunds will be donated to a charity chosen by the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC).

PALMco’s current owners, officers or partners are barred from doing business in Ohio’s retail energy markets for seven years by the terms of the agreement.

The following describes a government action that has been resolved by either a settlement or a decision by a court or administrative agency. If the matter is being appealed, it will be noted below.

On 1/29/2020, the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) today adopted a settlement agreement regarding alleged violations of PUCO regulations by PALMco Energy OH, LLC  and PALMco Power OH, LLC, which are retail energy providers doing business as Indra Energy.

Under the terms of the agreement, PALMco ceased enrolling new customers and will exit the Ohio marketplace when its operating authority from the PUCO expires (Feb. 14, 2020 for natural gas, and March 8, 2020 for electricity). PALMco’s current customers will receive uninterrupted service from their local distribution utility.

PALMco has credited customers who enrolled between Dec. 1, 2018 and April 15, 2019 with approximately $385,000. In its order, the Commission noted PALMco agreed to continue to credit customers who contact the PUCO Call Center.

PALMco’s current owners, officers or partners are barred from doing business in Ohio’s retail energy markets for five years by the terms of the agreement.

I received a letter dated 3/21 from indra addressed to my husband, who passed away in 2021, stating that he changed our electric supplier from PSE&G to indra. I then received a letter on PSE&G letterhead, dated 3/21 addressed to me, stating that I had requested to change my electric supplier from PSE&G and I must notify PSE&G within 7 days if the information is incorrect. Which I did immediately. I used the # published on my legal PSE&G statement. I spoke with a representative of PSE&G by the name of ********. They included a phone # they said was for PSE&G, when I called it, it had been disconnected.I did not receive my PSE&G statement for the April billing cycle but sent a payment to PSE&G in the amount of my budget plan. I will not pay any bill that is sent to me by indra ENERY.

Indra Energy forged my signature and put themselves on my electric bill without my consent or authorization. I didn't find out for several months until my bill got outrageous. They committed a felony. Plus, they basically stole $900 by accepting my payment to my electric company, ******** which is fraud or theft by deception. I received no notification either verbal or written. I requested and received a copy of the forged document. I am in the process of setting up an appointment with the county prosecutor and talking to a lawyer. I've made numerous calls to Indra because I refuse to pay the last 2 bills which were $517 and $586. I live in a one bedroom apartment and they want me to pay more than if I had a three bedroom house. When I called them about this they said they would escalate my request. The first time they took $175 off. After the second call and "escalation" they took $185 off. After I called a couple of times I was told there wouldn't be any more escalations. I tried to do it the right way but they didn't seem to care. Now, I'm going to take them to court and file several lW suits. I'm done talking to them.

      PALMco Response

      03/14/2024

Indra Energy (Indra or the Company) appreciates you bringing this matter to our attention. In response to your concerns, we researched our records which confirmed your electric account was enrolled with Indra on May 30, 2023. Per your request, on January 4, 2024, Indra submitted a cancellation request to your electric utility, which provided a service end-date of January 30, 2024. You were not charged a cancellation fee. Please be assured that the sales agents marketing on behalf of the Company are trained to completely adhere to our policies and guidelines. Indra takes these matters seriously, and upon receipt of your concerns, we immediately reached out to its sales team and marketing vendor. Based on their response, the sales agent associated with the enrollment has been removed from marketing on Indras behalf for reasons unrelated to this complaint. Out of an abundance of caution, the sales agents continuously undergo monthly scheduled retraining sessions to ensure they remain fully compliant.Indra has also placed your phone number and address on its internal Do-Not-Call and Do-Not-Knock lists, and your account number on its internal Do-Not-Enroll list to prevent any future enrollment.Thank you for speaking with us on March 11, 2024 regarding your concerns and Indras resolutions. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced and appreciate the opportunity to help resolve this matter for you. Should you have any future questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at **************************************
