    Starting with my July utility **** from Central ******, my electricity supplier was changed to Columbia Utilities without my knowledge or consent, increasing my electricity **** by almost 50%. I am told that I had to opt out of this change, although I was never made aware of the change and therefore could not opt out. I have three utility bills that are 50% higher than they were before my supplier was changed to Columbia Utilities. I cannot afford to pay this extra money, and I did not consent to have my supplier changed. I have officially opted out, so hopefully this will not happen in the future, but I cannot pay the extra charges on my last three bills, and I do not want my electricity to be turned off.

    I was told by my utility company that I was being switched to Columbia Power when I never authorized any such change. Good thing I called, now there is a block on my account. The company sound like poachers......beware.

    In response to the customer’s complaint, we researched our records and confirmed that your electric account was enrolled with Columbia Utilities Power, LLC (“Columbia”) on June 16, 2021, through a Beacon Community Choice Aggregation (“CCA”) on a 100% Renewable fixed rate plan of $0.06573 per kWh. Our records show a notice informing residents of this aggregation, including their option to opt-out, was sent to you by mail on May 19, 2021. Based on our research, we were not able to locate an opt-out notice completed by you. Upon receipt of your BBB review, Columbia immediately submitted the cancellation of your electric account to the utility and received a service end date from the utility of July 8, 2021. No early termination fee will be assessed neither your energy account will receive service from Columbia. Additionally, on June 30, 2021, a representative from Columbia’s compliance department attempted to contact you; however, the calls were unsuccessful and there was no option to leave a voicemail. We hope you find this information responsive to your concerns.
