I backed procolored K series through Kickstarter and paid using my **************** on January 25, 2025. After months of no response I disputed charge with ****************. **************** decided charge was valid and would remain on my account as of June 9, 2025. So my money remained with Kickstarter which is supposed to go to procolored. I am trying to take delivery of my procolored machine however Kickstarter will not close the dispute on my backer number so I can receive the product. I have emailed many times with no response. So now I am out the money for the machine and procolored will not send me the machine because Kickstarter will not close the dispute. They have my money and are not responding to close the dispute so my machine can be shipped. The proof I attached is 1. The **************** shot that proves dispute on my end was closed on June 9th and Kickstarter kept the money. 2. The pledge with reward I am to receive that shows no open dispute on my end. 3. Response from procolored that they show it still disputed in Kickstarter system. So this is a Kickstarter issue. They need to update my pledge to show no longer in dispute asap

    Hi there,

We heard back from our payment provider and they were able to update the status of your chargeback to indicate it was won by Kickstarter. This means you remain as a backer on the project, and the creator can proceed with shipping your reward. As a reminder, it's the project creator's responsibility to complete their project. Kickstarter doesnt step into the creative process itself or manage the fulfillment and shipment of rewards.

Kickstarter takes the privacy of our users seriously, so we don't provide a creator's contact information directly to backers. However, a creators verified name can be publicly found in the creator bio of their project.

Kickstarter's Terms of Use (***************************************************) outline the responsibilities of backers and creators. If you believe a creator is not fulfilling these responsibilities, we recommend reporting the project from the project page, which will flag it to our Trust & Safety team for review. If you believe further legal action is appropriate, please talk to an attorney about how to proceed.

We hope that backers will only consider the above options in cases where they believe that a creator has not made a good faith effort to complete their project as promised. If you havent yet messaged the creator through Kickstarter, you can find the steps for how to do so in this help center article (*******************************************************************************************************).

Hello: I signed up for the robotic mower program. However, it has been 11 months, and I have not received any products. I reached out to Kickstarter and the ************. However, Kickstarter refused to refund it. I also could not get in contact with the company. I understand that the product is not guaranteed when signing up for campaigns on Kickstarter. However, Kickstarter should take some responsibility for failed projects and take care of customers, rather than simply saying "no."

Respectfully, nothing has changed. A direct message was sent to the creator via the Kickstarter platform, and there has been no response whatsoever. The creator has not acknowledged the message, nor has he offered any explanationsuch as stating that the funds have already been used for the project and a refund is not possible.

Kickstarter is a crowd funding company. There was a Hong Kong company that posted on Kickstarter for milk frothers. How Kickstarter works is you pay for a product that Will be manufactured within a certain timeframe which can take many months. The company name ****** posted a campaign and I Purchased three that have never been delivered. Looks like nobody that purchased received delivery and it was a scam. I paid HK 1196 dollars on April 22, 2024 and was backer 406.

    Hi there,

Thank you for following up with us. I'm sorry that your experience with this creator wasnt a positive one.

Kickstarter takes the privacy of our users seriously, so we don't provide a creator's contact information directly to backers. However, a creators verified name can be publicly found in the creator bio of their project.

Kickstarter's Terms of Use outline the responsibilities of backers and creators.

We are always reviewing how best to provide updates on situations like this, while also setting realistic expectations when we have relayed all of the information we currently have available.

I want to clarify the relationship between Kickstarter creators, their backers, and our Community Support team:

Kickstarter creators are responsible for all communication around their campaign, including the fulfillment status of rewards on- and off-site. You as a backer have our on-site tools (such as leaving comments on the project page or project updates, and direct messaging creators), and any off-site contact information the creator wishes to provide.

Our Community Support team is here to help with practical use of the site (whether this is troubleshooting your pledge if it is errored, or resolving a bug in our user tools), and to clear up any potentially gray areas when it comes to our site rules, but we are not able to force any creators to fulfill their project rewards. If a creator does not deliver their promised rewards to backers, our policy is to not let them launch a new project on Kickstarter. I understand that, as in this case, it can be frustrating when things are not going as planned or a creator is not communicating as expected, yet the possibility that a project may have delays (or not come to fruition) is something important to consider when deciding to back a project on Kickstarter.

As an active part of our backer community you may already be aware of this, but we are always open to your thoughts and feedback on how best to convey expectations for the creator-backer relationship.

Finally, I just want to re-confirm that we have received your report about this project, and our experts in project review, the Trust and Safety team, will take action accordingly. Note that actions taken on a project or creator may not be outwardly obvious to other users, and unfortunately we are not able to follow up with each individual backer about the result of a project report.

    Best,

    Kickstarter

On July 13, 2024, I backed a Kickstarter campaign called SwitchLens by ************* $367.00 with the expectation that when fully funded, I would receive the SwitchLens + 3 Lenses Kit. On July 30, I was informed via email from Kickstarter that the SwitchLens campaign had reached it's goal and production would start. On Aug 16, backers were emailed an option to order more equipment at preproduction prices. I chose not to increase my pledge. On Sept 6, they sent an update saying there was a production problem and they estimated delivery by Nov 2024. On Dec 9th we were told delivery would be late Feb 2025 or early March. That was the last update campaign backers received. Based on the messages posted by backers in response to sneaki designs' last message, it is clear no one received anything for their backing and the campaign had been a fraud. I tried contacting sneaki design on the Kickstarter site but never received a response. On April 4 2025 I filed a complaint with Kickstarter, #*******, explained the campaign facilitated by them on their site did not meet any reasonable expectation of fulfillment and I requested a full refund of $367. On April 6th I received a response starting the creator took the money and I'd need to request my refund with them. I replied that messages to sneaki design fail to generate a response, to which Kickstarter replied that while they do enforce their Terms of Use, they cant force anyone to issue refunds. I believe Kickstarter should take responsibility for the claims made on their site and I request they refund my $367.00.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The business accepted the pledge I paid on their site but now claim no responsibility in a reasonable expectation that fulfillment by the product creator will occur. The creator reported being fully funded and product would be shipped by specific dates. They even provided opportunity to increase the original order and payment. Then they disappeared. Attempts to contract them went unanswered and the business response is they are not responsible for anything but technical difficulties with their site. I believe they should fulfill the promise they accepted money for or refund that money.

    Hi there,

Thank you for your follow up. While we work with creators to help them plan and bring their projects to life, getting to the final delivery of a project can come with unexpected hurdles and delayed timelines. Unlike an online shop, creators have control over the timeline and final project delivery. The Trust & Safety page on our website goes into a bit more detail on this. Additionally, project funds are disbursed to the creator after the deadline is reached, so Kickstarter is unable to issue refunds on a creator's behalf.

Backed a product on Kickstarter.June 2023. They say they vet the creators on their site so I trusted them. But the company ************** kept saying they had delays and finally in July 2024 they said theyd sent out all products. Many many people said they still hadnt received the product. And over 30 who did get it all said it didnt work. I contacted the company **** and never heard from them. I contacted Kickstarter who said they werent responsible. A lot of people were scammed. By the time I waited for my product to arrive and realized it was never coming, it was too late for **** to help me.

I backed a project on Kickstarter in 2018, and after much delay the creator (iQSquare / iQ2) finished developing the product and started selling it online before providing the product to all backers. This is a breach of terms of service with Kickstarter. The creator has since shut down their website and all communications channels. They are based in the ***********. When I emailed Kickstarter, they said they are not responsible for this situation and effectively there is nothing they can do. It seems their terms of service say otherwise. I understand that backing a project with companies like Kickstarter involves some risk if a project fails. In this case, however, the project was a success and they have been selling the product online for 2 years now, without delivering the product to all backers first. I consider this to be fraud, and Kickstarter seems to be aware and taking no action to help backers. The transaction was for EUR269 or CAD$417.73 on my credit card on May 24 2018. Yes it was a while back, but backers like myself have been waiting all these years for the product to be delivered. Thanks,****

    Hi there,

We're sorry to hear this hasn't been a good experience for you. Kickstarter isn't a store and we don't have a rule against creators selling their product elsewhere. Kickstarter's Terms of Use outline the responsibilities of backers and creators. Business Response

    Date: 02/17/2025

    Hi there,

We're sorry that working with this creator has turned into a frustrating experience for you. Part of the responsibility creators take on when they launch projects is taking the time to work with backers and make sure these kinds of concerns are handled refunds, items lost in shipping, and all those other service details. It's disappointing that, in this case, it seems that the process isn't quite working out.

Ultimately, creators are responsible for their own behavior from communication and engagement to fulfillment and while we can and do enforce our Terms of Use (***************************************************), we can't force anyone to actually write their book or send off their designs to the manufacturer. A big part of Kickstarter's mission is to support creative freedom and independence; we don't step into the actual creative process itself.

When creators go silent, we know that this can damage backers trust. Its important to remember that each creator will approach their project differently, and issues may come up that delay the process.

Although we are unable to offer refunds on projects, we are constantly working to improve the vetting process for creators and make sure Kickstarter is a beneficial place for both the creator and backer. We will continue to monitor the situation with this project and its creator.

    Best,
    Kickstarter Support

I have made many purchases on this platform in the last two years. Two of them have been from creators that have not shipped my product, or have lost the item and are no longer responding to inquiries. Kickstarter refuses to intervene and will not respond to correspondence in the form of project reports. At this time I have spent:- $130 on September 3rd 2024 as backer #*** on a project by Kaibo Audio - $149 on April 22nd 2024 as backer #1,010 on a project by VTouch While Kaibo has created a product that does not meet standards, that is my fault for not properly vetting the company; however, when the company fumbled dozens of orders with some backers receiving double their order, and many losing their shipment in ************** **** Starter should have stepped in to reassure backers that they would receive their reward or a refund. ***** as a company has already benefited from our initial capital investment by listing this product for sale. I would like a refund or an expedited shipping of my product.VTouch in my opinion has fraudulently lead backers down a road of disappointment. It started off as a titanium AI powered smart ring destined to ship in June of 2024. We are now dealing with an aluminum ring coated in titanium, that may or may not deliver half of the functionality that has still not even deliver a working prototype as we enter 2025. I have no faith I will receive a product, and with backers passing the 1k mark **** starter has done nothing to aid its community.

I have been ripped off by a creator on Kickstarter for $250.00. I have been in disagreement with this creator for his abusive behavior to me and crude ignorant comments. So I was complaining to this creator and he said he was tired of me and the creator offered me a refund. I took him up on his offer, but then he replied back and said he decided not to honor the refund and also not to offer the tier I pledge. So I will not get the reward I pledged $250.00 for. So this creator is stealing $250.00 and I get nothing. I tried to reach out to the creator and he blocked me as spam... So now I am so upset because I am not only getting the refund he offered but also no reward and I am out $250.00!! So, I reported this to Kickstarter and they don't respond or care. They absolutely do not care. I have had issues with Kickstarter before and they tried to lock me out of my account bc I sent too many emails. I am being unfairly targeted and harassed by Kickstarter InfraGard staff members. So I am helpless and I leave a comment on the creators campaign page and I leave a remark calling the creator a scumbag, and not to trust him and to warn future pledgers of this unacceptable behavior and theft. And within an hour I get a message from Kickstarter blocking my account until November 7th. They block me for a comment but let someone rip me off with no punishment to the creator. SO typical with businesses today more concerned about words than creators stealing from people who pledge. Unacceptable and unbelievable!!
