Jason Carter of Fur & Feathers Wildlife Control responded quickly to our request to evaluate our issue with bats in our attic. He provided two estimates. One was for doing a bat exclusion and removal for $2,700 and another for $4,860 for attic restoration. We agreed to go forward with the exclusion and removal and paid a down payment of $1,350 on 5/25/2023. Jason began exclusion work by installing exclusion netting, screens, and caulk on 6/5&6/23. Jason returned on 6/19 and added some additional netting to another area and adjusted some screening based on our observation of continued bat activity. He said the adjustments should solve the problem and we paid the balance of $1350.
We continued to see bats exiting every night and told Jason what we were seeing via phone and text. Jason’s last visit with us was on 6/28 when he adjusted some screens and netting and encouraged us to set a 7/14 date to do the attic restoration. Jason claims to have made two additional visits when we were not home on 7/8&12 and said bats were observed exiting. We continue to see bats exiting and hear bat activity and provided Jason with the details last on 7/12. After several subsequent missed appointments, Jason has stopped returning phone calls and texts.
It seems clear that this company and/or Jason Carter never intended to complete the job of excluding the bats and cleaning up the mess but presented a performance long enough to collect the $2700, completely disregarding the terms of the verbal contract and written invoice.Initial Complaint

I called Jason at Fur and Feathers after finding them on Angi, a reputable site, who I also let know, though they couldn't refund me. I called in May 2023, we had a groundhog issue with a groundhog doing damage to our fence and deck. They advertise groundhog removal services for $250. I described my groundhog issue and he said they could help me. He sent someone else out with ONE TRAP after promising me he'd leave three because of all the entries it had to the yard. I mentioned this and he said he'd come back with more and check the traps periodically, every 2-3 days, to rebait them and he'd come get anything the traps caught and remove it safely. They took payment that first day AND NEVER CAME BACK. Two weeks later the trap and bait were rotting in my yard. So I contacted him and he said he had been by and I must not have seen him but would come again. Nothing. 2 weeks later (now it's been a month) I messaged him and told him no one had been on my property because I am actually stay at home with a great guard dog and no one had been by. He still claimed he'd stop by. Finally, this one trap caught a baby possum that didn't know any better. I contacted Jason, I asked him to come get it, he said he would but not when. 6 hours later he finally showed up for the possum and spun me a line about how he didn't know how I had gotten off his schedule and he'd definitely be out that Monday with 3 traps and even asked where to put them again. He took his trap and left. That Monday came and went, no one came, no traps. That Tuesday I messaged him asking for a refund. Our issue was never solved and we were battling to get anyone to do anything. He said okay and he'd send the refund out in the next day's mail. It's been A MONTH since then and we haven't received ANYTHING and now he won't reply. Completely ghosted. We are beyond unhappy and we feel this experience was the trap. We were scammed and would like our $250 refund. I have a copy of the check and all communication.Initial Complaint

Jason, the owner agreed to remove the skunk(s) living under my house as well as seal off around my back deck and house so no rodents would be able to return. He took the $300 deposit, set a trap and left. The next day he came back to empty the trap, he reset it again and left. After that we set our trap with his trap out there and then caught 2 more rodents. He finally came
Back to empty them and promised to return to complete the job. That was back in November. After many texts and phone calls we have had no resolution and I am currently stuck with having to catch and relocate 4 skunks and seal off the area myself. Completely unprofessional and disturbing! A full refund is only appropriate!Business Response

In response to the complaint it states that there is no warranty on trapping services alone. She terminated the service in April. We never did any exclusion work, she never paid for it. The $300 she paid was for the 2 animals I did trap and remove. As stated the agreement my trapping fees are non refundable.Customer Answer

I have included the text chain along with his agreement in this email. He quoted me $250 for removal of rodents and so based on the removal only I would be due a $50 refund, BUT he also stated he would complete ALL the work for the $300, so being he did not we felt we deserved a larger refund as we did not hire anyone else to do the work. Even in April he sent my husband text messages stating he would come to do the work, then never showed up. I have included those text messages as well. All around this has been the worst experience and I would NEVER want anyone else to go through this.I appreciate your attention to our matter!Initial Complaint

On May 5, 2023, Jason Carter from Fur & Feathers Wildlife Control came to my house at ** ********* **** ************ *** and deposited two raccoon traps in the attic and gave me an estimate for clean up and repair of the attic.I paid him $500 for raccoon removal and he never once came to check the traps. He finally returned May 23 with his crew to clean the attic. No raccoons were caught. The attic insulation that was soiled with raccoon feces and urine was removed and the entry point closed up. When it was time for them to leave they didn’t have a vehicle big enough to transport the 27 bags of hazardous material so they took what they could and left the rest. Jason assured me he would swing by the next day to remove them. Four weeks later and many calls and texts later and the bags still remain. When I actually spoke with someone I was informed that Jason’s mother was ill and he was taking care of her and that the bags would be removed the next day (June 17). Another lie. This company is not reputable! Stay away! Jason Carter is not reputable.Business Response

I have not been contacted by the business as stated. They lie. I have since paid to have the waste removed. My assessment of Fur and Feathers Wildlife Control remains unchanged. They are not reputable. If they want to make it right they can refund me $300 for aggravation and removal of hazardous waste.

10/4/22. Contacted Jason C***** at Fur and Feathers Wildlife to take care of squirrels in attic of apartment building. He quoted me $1029.27 with $600 deposit due immediately. I paid the $600 deposit. He claimed he caught 5 squirrels and would be returning in a week to finish fixing the soffit and removing the traps. He refuses to answer my texts or emails. I went to the apartment into the attic. There were no traps set, nor were there ever. The only access to the attic is through the house and neither me or the tenants gave him access. I asked for a refund, but he won’t respond. I just want my deposit back. ThanksBusiness Response
