Diabetic Alert Dogs of America claims to be able to find and work with any breed that the "buyer" wants. In your contract, you state: "A. Dog matching with Buyer's preferred criteria as it pertains to gender, color, and breed." The cost of the "puppy" was always stated to me as $3000. I personally found the exact breed and gender of the puppy that I wanted for exactly $3000. DADs of America broke the contract when I found a puppy to train. Their service representative demanded that I pick up and transport the puppy that they refused to locate.
They repeatedly used aggressive in communications and try to bully the "buyer" when the "buyer" asks for clarification, or for more information. Avoided contact and failed to respond to direct questions for days.
You attempted multiple times to extort more money than the original agreed upon contract and blame the "buyer" for your failings. Shame on you!
This company poses a disservice to the industry. I will strongly oppose anyone thinking of using this company for a service dog provider. Their tactics and aggressive business model and practices should be audited for abusing disabled and medically fragile individuals.

DADA is a wonderful organization that contributes to the health and safety of diabetics. I am blessed to be able to work with one of their dogs everyday.

I highly recommend using Diabetic Alert Dogs of America. We purchased my Daughters Diabetic alert dog Angel 3 years ago and she continues to amaze us and impress others around us with how well she behaves, how well she is trained and how accurate she is at alerting my Daughter for fluctuations with her blood sugars. In the most distracted environments, while my Daughter is driving, from far distances, strong smelling environments her diabetic alert dog stays focused on my Daughter and will even alert me (Mom/Second handler if not with my Daughter) to Inform me that my Daughters blood sugars are not safe.
My Daughter was once at a dance competition and I was handling Angel while my Daughter was back stage. Angel kept alerting me while I was in the audience a great distance away from my daughter. I thought there is no way she can smell her from here. Angel persisted in alerting me and staring at me with concern that I brought her back stage to my Daughter. As soon as we got close enough to her she alerted her. After quickly checking her blood sugar number we discovered she was dropping fast but she hadn’t felt it yet. We had time to give her glucose before she hit the stage to perform. Angel saved her from a dangerous situation.
With each year that passes Angel continues to strengthen her bond with my Daughter and stays sharp in her training. This does require my daughter to also focus on Angel and make sure she holds her accountable, continues to work on commands with Angel and praise/reward Angel for good behavior, accurate alerts etc. They are a great team together that started with the great Team at Diabetic Alert dogs who loved, cared and trained Angel. They also continue to follow Angel on social media, have helped us many times when we had questions about how to handle situations, and truly continue to show us they care about Angel and the success that we have with her alerting my Daughter. We are so thankful for Diabetic Alert Dogs of America.

Diabetic Alert Dogs of America is a wonderful facility that trained service dogs for diabetic alerts for both low and high blood sugars. My service dog Max is 1 years old and is so very obedient and loving and a great service dog. They not only train the service animal they train the handlers. They can either bring the service animal to you and train at your home or work place or you can go to them for training. The owners and trainers are amazing and I would highly recommend them. They are not only a life changer but make the handlers life so much easier. My service dog a;erts me about 20 minutes before my cgm goes off. Can’t say enough good things about them.

Our experience with Diabetic Alert Dogs of America has been outstanding. The staff were consistently kind, friendly, and genuinely invested in helping us succeed. They were always willing to answer questions, and their communication throughout the process was clear and supportive.
Future families should understand that the wait from joining the list to receiving your dog is not quick—but it shouldn’t be. The time allows trainers to teach new skills, evaluate progress, and ensure every dog meets all requirements. Knowing this made us appreciate the process even more.
We especially valued the matching process. We were given full say, never pressured, and the team truly listened to what we hoped for. They matched us perfectly with Remington, who is even more amazing than we imagined. She is beautifully trained, reliable in her alerts, obedient, and an absolute joy.
Our time with Remington and Shelby, the delivery trainer, was priceless. Shelby is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind. She shared helpful tips, guided us through commands and routines, and made the transition smooth. We learned so much from her and were genuinely sad when she left.
This company is reputable, follows through on what they promise, and delivers an exceptional product. Our experience was entirely positive.
It’s important for new owners to understand that receiving a trained dog is just the beginning. Continued practice and consistency are essential. These dogs are remarkably skilled, but like humans, they can have off moments. That doesn’t mean poor training—it means they’re living beings. Without ongoing commitment from the owner, performance will not stay consistent.
This is a lifelong partnership, and the effort you put in truly matters. We are beyond grateful for Remington and for the entire team at Diabetic Alert Dogs of America. Their dedication and expertise made this experience unforgettable, and we wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone seeking a diabetic alert dog.

If I could give zero stars, I would.
We paid $17,000 to Diabetic Alert Dogs of America for what was promised to be a fully trained diabetic alert service dog for our 2-year-old daughter, who has Type 1 Diabetes. What we received was a dog that was never properly trained, has caused more harm than help, and a company that refuses to take accountability for its failures. From the moment we brought Nugget home, it was clear she was not ready for service work. She never performed a single night alert, one of the company’s biggest promises. She false alerts constantly, breaks commands, and behaves unpredictably around guests. We have documented everything — videos, messages, and repeated attempts to get help. Their answer has always been the same: “We did our part.” When we raised concerns during the initial two-day evaluation, their trainer assured us that the issues would improve with time. Instead, things only got worse. At no point were we told we could use the “money-back guarantee.” Instead, we were pressured into signing papers before their trainer would leave.
Now, after months of struggling, they’ve blamed us for the dog’s behavior, hidden behind their contract, and refused to take any accountability. Their “support” is nothing more than empty policy talk and passing responsibility. We’ve since reported this company to the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission, only to find we are far from the first family to experience these same issues.
Our daughter — who was supposed to have a safety companion — has instead been scratched, frightened, and let down. We’ve now had to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome Nugget to a family member so she can simply live as a pet, because she was never the trained service dog we paid for. This company preys on vulnerable families — exhausted parents desperate to keep their diabetic children safe. Please, please do your research before giving them your trust or your money. They will leave you heartbroken.

I thoroughly researched multiple companies before determining to get my medical alert dog with D.A.D.A. My experience was just as described. I was able to check in regularly to find out where I was on the waitlist and once my dog was selected, received regular updates. I spent two days in Las Vegas with the trainers learning all about how to become the handler, what to expect, and was offered consultation any time. I was able to text or call when needed and the trainer addressed any issues as they arose. I returned at 6 months for a the suggested refresher training and it worked fabulously. I have been able to take my dog anywhere I need - from concerts to airplanes to restaurants to work to any public setting, with no issues at all. My dog's ability to alert was immediate - from the first day. My lab results before and after getting my dog prove that the dog made all the difference. The only thing that changed for me was having my dog and my doctor was floored! I cannot recommend D.A.D.A more highly. It isn't easy - having an alert job is not something you can sit back and relax with, but if you are willing to put in the work, the payoff is enormous!

We had a highly disappointing experience with this company and cannot recommend them.
From the beginning, there were numerous red flags. We were told things verbally that did not match what was in the contract, and when concerns were raised, we were told, “The contract you signed says this.” That reflects a serious lack of transparency and professionalism. It's critical for future clients to read all documents thoroughly and not rely solely on verbal assurances.
Our process took nearly a year, during which communication was inconsistent and often frustrating. There appeared to be a significant disconnect between the owner and the training staff. When we were finally matched with a dog, we appreciated the weekly training updates. However, based on prior discussions, we expected to be much more involved — especially in exposing the dog to our two-year-old child with Type 1 diabetes. That was a key reason we chose a local provider.
The dog was placed in our home at just 10 months old and displayed many age-appropriate but concerning behaviors: nipping at our toddler, chewing, and trying to take toys. It became clear she was not ready to be placed, particularly in a home with a young child. She also showed no signs of real scent alerting and had not been exposed to toddlers before placement. The trainers agreed she needed more time and training.
We did not sign the satisfaction paperwork, as we were not comfortable with the placement or the dog’s readiness. Unfortunately, this led to the owner, Ed, refusing to continue training or support — despite the trainers being willing to work with us. We were issued a refund, and communication was immediately cut off.
Now, we are starting over in our search for a service dog, and sadly, our child has developed a fear of dogs due to this experience. We strongly urge others to do extensive research and proceed with caution when considering this company.

As a Type 1 Diabetic and a nearly fully defrauded client, I feel compelled to warn others about this organization. They do not honor their word, their contracts, or their ethical responsibility to the people they claim to serve. Worse, they are not properly certified or qualified to provide legitimate, accredited international service animals.
If you are seriously looking for a trained service dog that meets federal and international standards, this is not the place. The animals provided here may be little more than overpriced pets. They are not formally recognized and you may have problems with both traveling and accommodations with work/school.
Do not sign any contract with them. Do not pay them a single dime. You will be putting your money and your well-being at risk.
Thankfully, I was able to walk away before they took more of my hard-earned and fundraised money. But others may not be so lucky.
I strongly urge you to instead work with Assistance Dogs International (ADI) or the International Guide Dog Federation (IGDF). Organizations that are recognized worldwide for their rigorous standards, transparency, and genuine commitment to supporting people with disabilities.
Living with a chronic illness like diabetes is already challenging enough. When you seek support, you deserve compassion, professionalism and integrity. Not exploitation! Please stay far away from this organization and place your trust in those who truly want to help, not profit off your need.
RUN!!!!!! Do not walk away from this organization and others like this.

Have been working with Diabetic Alert Dogs of America, LLC (DADA) over several months and could not be happier with the professionalism, the training methodology and the accredited service dog, Loki, that was matched with me. The energy and focus of Loki in alerting my hypoglycemic events is outstanding and highly accurate, even holding superior alerts over my CGMS. Every member of the support team at DADA shares the dedication and desire to matching Loki with me: Kristen's thorough and quick response in all matters, the coordination team of Edwin, Luis and Sean helping in the simplest to unexpected matters, and Joanne & the core trainers!
I could not sing higher praises of their work and professionalism - I will gladly recommend and support other diabetics needing a service animal to work with DADA!
