Hello BBB,I received an email through my school email suggesting that I would be a good fit for next steps with Boardsi. I scheduled a call with them on August 6 expecting to hear a bit more about the service. They claimed to be a business that matches boards with personnel. Given them reaching out to my school email, I assumed they had an agreement with my school. During the call they mentioned a fee of $200 to set up and an ongoing $195 monthly membership fee and requested my credit card number. They charged $395 immediately, with a meeting date of August 27. On Friday, August 9, I submitted a request for a cancellation and a refund. On Monday, August 12, they stated they needed to have me set up a call with a specialist to proceed with next steps as part of their process. Today, August 14, I had a conversation in which it was claimed that they could not refund the initial set-up fee, but that they could credit me $195 as an exception to the terms and conditions. I did not receive any emails outlining terms and conditions until after the call during which I submitted my credit card details. I rejected the offer of the $195 as the setup meeting has not occurred. I have, outside of the initial call and request for cancellation, not used their services. I'm sorry to hear about your frustrating experience with Boardsi. Let's refine your paragraph:"After being laid off, I engaged with Boardsi in January 2024 but only decided to join their membership in June 2024. I paid $200 for the membership fee and an additional $195 for June.Despite challenges like the Houston hurricane and an overseas trip, the onboarding process in July went smoothly. However, since that initial call, I haven't received any further communication from Boardsi. Unfortunately, I can't access their website because my current password isn't accepted, and I can't change it either.In my attempt to cancel my membership, I emailed everyone I had spoken to, including ******************************************** Their response instructed me to schedule a call with a **************** representative to finalize the cancellation. I find it puzzling that a call is necessary for cancellation.Given reports of this company being a scam, I'm concerned they won't honor my request. On 09/20/2024 I received a call from Boardi asking for payment for a job placement as a board member or executive member. Unfortunately, I didn't complete due diligence before paying, but I realized it was a scam after reading all the reviews.Business Response

This company uses a large call center to make appointment to discuss fake "board appointments" but its really just a "service" to get monthly fee for nothing. The individual who contacted me read from a script that was completely off base and clearly had no connection to what is needed to serve on any board. It was also very disrespectful of my time. In my initial call with a Boardsi **** they fraudulently sold themselves as a board match making company, and that they would review my professional experience and help me identify opportunities for board service. I accepted, was billed the initiation fee, and have since been billed for multiple months. During this time, communication was a clear challenge with Boardsi. I was able to access my account once, discovered multiple errors and issues with my profile, asked for assistance, but never again was able to get back into my account. I attempted to change my password, used their 'magic' link to sign in -- and was never let back on to the platform. It has been over a month now. Furthermore, there was no substantiative support and leads for services. I have requested cancellation and refund, as they misrepresented the services they were providing and have a nonfunctional platform.Business Response

In October 2023, I had an introductory call with Boardsi onboarding specialists (******/*****) and was told that I would be a good match for multiple board positions. I had someone spend a few mins with me on the phone taking note to set my profile but my profile is a straight copy paste from my resume and LinkedIn page. I paid $395 for the 1st month for Boardsi to copy paste my resume online and I have not been matched with anything and have not heard from Boardsi until I reached out in May of 2024. A sales person called me and did not even realize I was already subscribed. I was provided zero service for the monthly fees. The website is clunky, there is no way to filter or search by matches (I believe its designed that way on purpose to keep it difficult to get to an answer and realize that this is a scam), and there is no ability to cancel the membership online. I was continuously charged $195/month. When looking at the board positions supposedly available, I can see that nothing seems to be a match while I was sold on the fact that my profile would have a lot of opportunities. I was sold on the fact that they would take care of the match and they are obviously not doing anything to help me. I was contacted in May by a salesperson (******) who didn't even realize I already had a subscription. He told me about this new platform and how it would be easier and I would start seeing opportunities. Nothing changed. After several emails in June/July, I finally was contacted by a customer success manager (***) and the subscription was cancelled with a courtesy refund of 1 month (June/$195). They asked me to try a few more months free of charge and I declined. Their review score is 1.89 of 5 on the BBB website which tells me all I need to know. Original fee of $395 + 7 months that I paid of $195 each for a total of $1,760. The company promises a lot and delivers nothing. I am seeking a refund for the amount I paid.Customer Answer

I engaged with Boardsi on the premise that they would provide a platform to search and find board seats and advisory seats and market myself as a viable candidate for such seats. It was purported to me that the team would update my profile, allow me to update my own profile, search and filter opportunities and also help send opportunities to me. At no point in time has any of this happened (my profile was wrought with error and I have been unable to edit it and apply for any opportunities as a result) and during this entire process the platform has been broken, unavailable, or has not had any of the features I was told it would have. During this time I was charged $590 and have not had any of the features, access or opportunity to use the service because the profile that was setup for me was wrought with error, I was not able to edit it because the platform has had a "known developer issue" for the entirety of my time using it and at no point did anyone contact me to curate any opportunities to me.Business Response

Boardsi offers individuals a service. The service uses your professional background to identify potential board positions for you. They tell you about the opportunities, and then you follow up directly with the companies seeking the new board member.Since my membership was opened in February, until today, I am unaware of any serious leads for board positions presented to me by Boardsi.I can accept that Boardsi does not guarantee that you will be successful in being appointed to a board position. However, it is Boardsi's duty to send me potential opportunities each month. From my perspective, Boardsi has done close to nothing in my case, I feel that Boardsi needs to screen its potential customers and offer membership only to those for whom they know have a reasonable probability of finding potential board opportunities. I feel that they did not do what they said they'd do for USD 785, and therefore need to refund the entire amount. I paid.Business Response

I have become increasingly convinced that boardsi.com is a scam. I signed up for their service three months ago, and I have seen nothing from them during this time. I have contacted them monthly to complain that I havent heard anything from them, and each time they have assured me that they are hard at work and that I will see results. Thats it. That is all that I have received for $980. Just assurances that something will happen. No this has ever shown up in my customer portal, and no communication of any kind has been initiated by them after getting me to subscribe to their service.Customer Answer
