I was initially cold messaged through a recruiter on LinkedIn for BoardSi in September 2024, stating how I was a candidate for their platform based on my board service experience. I set up a call with a recruiter and decided to try it out. The day that I had paid for my initial subscription (Sept 28, 2024), I discovered a bunch of negative reviews online for this company and decided to back out. When I called to cancel, they dropped the initial fee to half the cost, both for my initial profile setup and then a substantial discount on monthly membership, which swayed me to stick around. However, I discovered many negative things within one month, detailed below: > Having a tone deaf AI generated profile that I could have created myself based off my LinkedIn profile only. > Having a platform that doesn't have an app (seems this should be an easy win for most platforms)> Having a platform that does not allow me to edit my own information easily > Having job listings on a platform that are difficult to navigate for several reasons including but not limited to 1) no way to display a total list of all opportunities 2) no way to change the view of job listings (into a list format, grid format, etc) 3) no way to keep track of place when going back and forth within job listings (AKA, every time you click into a job listing, then go back to the main search, whether choosing the BoardSi button to go back or selecting back on the browser window, it refreshes the search. Incredibly frustrating)> Being recruited by BoardSi recruiters on ******** - even after already having a membership - making it seem impersonal and like I was just a number The whole experience felt like a scam. I was in a regular email exchange with support stating these things as they were coming up, and I was told this is just how it works. Boardsi charged me $395 to start a monthly subscription service for a board seat matching, however, no service has been provided and I now need to wait another 7+ days for them to create my profile. In the meantime I'm getting no benefit from this subscription and no refund is available It's clear from my research that many others have been scammed by this business. When I reach out about my profile, someone different responds to me and incorrectly identifies me as another person with a similar but different name. I'd like a full refund and my details to be removed from their system.Business Response

It is very important to note that landing a board role is not an overnight process. It generally takes 3-6 months for traction on the platform. This is why we always set expectations prior to the onboarding call. As for the profile it can take up to 5-7 business days after onboarding depending on any edits you may want etc. Again, this is why we always set expectations prior to bringing on a new client. In early August I joined Boardsi, a business that claims to help executives secure board positions at various firms. They require an upfront payment of $200 for account setup, plus an additional $195 per month (paid in advance) for their services. Thus the initial start up is $395 to establish an account. They explicitly set the expectation that placement success takes between one and three months, with them reaching out to their network and "selling" them on behalf of their members. There is also the ability to search openings from within their network, to apply directly through the Boardsi site. After one "onboarding" call, they set up the initial version of my profile. There were minor issues I wanted to correct, however their "edit" function doesn't work, so I'd have to go through them to make any changes. To this day, no updates have been made, nor has anything been done to remedy the unusable "edit" function, I haven't heard one word from them since the end of that initial onboarding call -- apart from when I've called them to either complain about the lack of edit rights, or to inquire about my status with any potential positions. They claim there are "dozens" of prospective board seats in progress, but I've never heard a word; nor have I ever received a report or anything else that identifies who all of those potential companies are. I've never received a single dollar of value from Boardsi. I've since conducted online searches and found dozens of stories exactly like mine. It's very disappointing and seems to be a flat-out scam. Since they haven't done anything they said they would, I'm looking for a full refund.Business Response

**** M reached out with the sales pitch as follows verbally and in writing: Board Compensation Averages: Start-Up Advisory Positions: $10K+ Annually and/or a variable equity position Small to Mid-Cap Advisory Positions: $10K-$60K annually and/or a variable equity position ************ Seats: $20K-$100K+ (higher when Public companies) Matches are created through three methods: Click to apply through the platform. We proactively reach out to companies, incubators, accelerators, *** and *************** firms. Companies can directly contact you upon viewing your profile. in our conversation, **** shared most people of my skill-set have a board seat within 6 months. ***** W followed up 2 weeks later and stated via email "We will gather more detailed information during the On-boarding process and use that internally to make the connections for you. " About 4 months later ****** F reaches out to try to sell me on joining Boardsi when I already had a profile. Never once did Boardsi make any connections that they promised. The website for opportunities is very difficult to navigate and filter towards your skill sets. The ** review stated I was 100% or high 90% matches for opportunities yet Boardsi never made any connections. Also, Boardsi has added a lot of Non-profit board seats (30%) where the list mentions in passing this is non-compensated due to non-profit nature but this was never mentioned by **** *. They will make promises of paid seats within first 6 months and that they will make connections. Neither of which materialized.Business Response

Sometimes this can take longer depending on the background of a client and needs of the companies etc. It is also important that while the team is very efficient at getting your background in front of companies they think are a good match for you, it is equally as important to log onto the platform and apply for roles you may think are a good fit as well to help with the outreach. This company is a ****. DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR SCAM. They won't let you stop your subscription and require a call with their stupid customer service. Worst, you cannot schedule a call with their customer service until months away so that they can charge you for more monthsBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because: this did not resolve anything. I don't understand why a business requires a minimum 15 minute phone call to cancel a subscription. If you have to pull these kind of tactics to keep the business, then it's basically a scam. Not everyone has time for a scheduled phone call, why would a business who did not provide any service felt entitled to someone else's time and efforts?Attached screenshot for business response.

Signed up for Boardsi and from the initial email I received there were issues. The intial login link did not work, and even though a verification code was supposed to be included to help me login if there was an issue with the link, this code was missing from the email. Once I received a call asking why I had not logged in yet I had to explain that the email had multiple errors. Once into Boardsi I was able to apply to a board position and was told my monthly fee was to go towards a team member working on my behalf to find a board seat. In the three weeks since I had not heard a single thing so I decided to log in and see if there was anything on the portal. I am unable to log in and cannot reset my password or request a working link to access my account. I am in a perpetual loop and cannot access something I paid hundreds of dollars to use. I am requesting a refund of my money as I feel the level of service shown to me is not what I was promised.Customer Answer

On August 21, 2024, BoardSI called me. I had never heard about that company. The solicitor promised to arrange appointments to Board of **************** at one or more existing companies. Despite multiple requests, BoardSI has never provided me with the name and BOD position of anyone they ever placed. Not a single one. Since ****** ********** BoardSI has done nothing on my behalf, they have not earned that setup fee, To resolve this complaint, I expect a full refund of the $396 initiation fee.Customer Answer

Boardsi offered me to be placed in the boards and proposed to review my CV and qualifications before they can place in front of boards. Some sales guy talked to me as if they will charge me a one time fee and got my credit card. After that I tried to setup meetings and I didn't receive any response and I forgot about the whole episode only to see them charging me 195$ every month without offering any services or follow-up or reached out to me. I was on-boarded in May of this year with the promise of a quick turn around of setting up my profile followed by a personal listing of board opportunities.- I never received an email with board opportunities - more than 50% of the time I tried to log in, I was unable to access the website - the services available online when I was able to log in were very poorly designed, not what I would expect from a $200 per month service.Customer Answer

I did hear from Boardsi and they have refunded all of my costs, including the initial setup fee as well as all of the monthly fees. They apologized for the poor experience I had with them. This satisfies my complaint and have no desire to pursue any complaint any further than this
