    Oct 22, 2024 **** ******** owner of JJ Asphalt and Seal Coating drove up our driveway while I was cleaning pine needles from the ditch and said he could seal the recycled asphalt driveway which would prevent further cracking. I asked where he was from as there was no address on his business card and he said Flora Vista, New Mexico. His worker named ***** (who **** said had worked for him for 20 years) and one other sprayed the entire driveway with a VERY thin coat of sealer for which ******** was paid $5,000. **** ******** came back after the job was finished and agreed that the seal coat was too thin, and they would come back and spray it again at no further cost.
    They also sprayed the existing asphalt around the house for an additional $1,500 and said they would fill the cracks between the concrete walkway and the asphalt with asphalt repair. They filled the cracks with black sand (not asphalt repair) and some liquid on top which never solidified. Most of this sand has since washed/ blown away.
    A majority of the sealant on the recycled asphalt driveway has also disappeared.
    The receipt for both jobs was hand written on the back of a ******** flyer - not an official receipt document - see attached - which refers to a 6 year warranty. I asked ***** what that covered and he said he didn't know!!
    My husband called the 4 numbers on the business card several times and finally got **** ******** to answer on the Ruidoso number. He said he would come back and complete the job but has never shown up.

    I apologize it’s been so long since replied to the complaint had a lot of personal stuff going on. It got really late in the year and I have not talked to the customers the Ruidoso number I think that is my father, but the weather is going to be breaking in the next few weeks so the first week in AprilI can redo the whole job if they’d like I apologize again thank you sincerely, **** ********

    We have given **** ******** months to contact us to redo the driveway job which his two employees did October 22, 2024.  After his inspection of the job in October he agreed there wasn't sufficient material sprayed onto the driveway and he would re-do it at no additional cost.

    Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience with this driveway/asphalt repair contractor, “Asphalt Seal Coating” (aka “JJ Asphalt & Seal Coating”) operated by John J*******. They used an oil-based sealer along with some type of powder to “fill” the cracks. The sealer never cured and is now a sticky mess and the cracks opened back up almost immediately. Our driveway is worse than before his treatment and we now have a black oil-based mess tracked into our garage. John J******* returned one time to review the job. At that time he indicated there was a problem with the work that he “had never experienced before” and that he would not let us down and would fix it. Despite this promise and “All Work Guaranteed” being displayed on his business card, he refuses to resolve the issue and now will not return our calls after many attempts to reach him.

    JJ was given an advance of $8,500 to finish a seal coat job on 6/9/2023. He stopped taking our calls and has not scheduled the work. We tried to contact him multiple times. No response from him for months.

    We've agreed back in August that it was too wet to do with the monsoons. We are doing the job at the end of October.

    JJ Asphalt did my driveway 3/2021
    The "2 coat" job came with a 5 yr warranty. The worker used a split nozzle so they considered this "2" coats?
    I have called "Johnny" trying to work things out to no avail. He has promised to come check things out, but never does. Since this was during the COVID outbreak I have tried to be understanding.
    Last communication 1/5/23 was that the manufacturer would pay 1/2 of the cost, but they would have to wait till March to do anything because of weather and temperature. I guess Johnny pocketed the $$ from the manufacturer
    I have either spoken to them or left messages 31 times. They are no longer taking any of my calls.
    I have given up on believing ANYTHING they say. I hope this will prevent others from getting scammed.

    On May 7, 2022, JJ Asphalt sealed our parking lot at our business location in Ruidoso, NM. We gave him half ($3,500) up front on May 3rd, and an additional $3,500 on May 9th after the work was completed. We have repeatedly, Nov 18, Dec. 1, Dec. 20, and Jan 25 texted him and his father to get us a W9 for our tax accountant, to which I've received no answer. I did receive a text back from the father that he would get us a W9 as soon as his son came back from Christmas. I attempted 3 times to call both phone numbers, and no answer, and was unable to leave voicemails. All we are needing is a W9 from the Business!
